Again, I agree with you and have to say open world Spidey in my pocket.
    Super cool.
Plus it looks to me as though the controls are the same, or at least very very close, to Total Mayhem which I thoroughly enjoyed and had an absolute blast with.
If Gameloft is good at one thing, it's touch screen controls (for the most part anyway).

(And your Android point is spot on. Android hardware is top notch and has massive power for mobile devices and they are brilliant in almost every way. But developing software, games and apps, anything, is an absolute pain in the ass because optimising for the separate devices is a massive task.)

I dunno. The VA sounded somewhat like an eunuch who is trying to enunciate every word clearly and slowly.

An open world Spiderman game is really something great to look forward to though.

After watching the new trailer, I really want to punch whoever is doing the voice acting in the face. Gameloft seriously picked the guy with one of the most annoying voices in the world. It's just bad.

Oh crap, the curse of bad voice acting for a Gameloft game strikes again.

Lol, here we are bitching about a whiny person on a video game. And so am I. GL, why can't you at least hire half decent actors instead of these high school dropouts? It makes what seems like a polished game appear to be #.

And you think that's easy to build in??
You really think optimising a game on a development level is as simple as allowing the user to select a button to customise the visuals??
    Really??
Do you believe that is air you're breathing?

You do realise it needs to be rendered and optimised first for all supported devices before that option can be put in the game.

I'm not sure why I bothered typing a response. Deleted it and decided to just write pointless gibberish instead.
Then deleted that as well. Too lazy to bother deleting this now.

I do have one question though. What have you developed or contributed to or experience do you have because I don't see any actual real experience of game or visual effects development in any of your comments?

And in ref to the God of War on a ps2 in comparison to Nova 3 on an iPhone 4s, try picking up that ps2 and carrying it out the door. Try cooling the CPU on it when it's running highly rendered games in your pocket. How do you plan on charging it? Powering it? What pocket are you going to put the screen and the power generator in?

Also, if you run visuals on a game that do maximise the CPU, ram, bus controller and gpu, what do you think that does to the heat of the device? How long do you think you're battery would last? Not very long. How then can it be called a mobile device if it needs to be plugged in to even play the game? As things stand NOVA 3 is a massive drain on the battery on an iPhone 4s.

    Here's my opinion.
I dislike the voice acting. I REALLY dislike it.
I'm fine with the graphics, they're alright to me.
    The gameplay looks alright.
But really, THIS IS GONNA HAVE FREAKING FREE ROAMING! That in itself makes the voice acting stuff fine, in my opinion! I mean, in every Spider-man game I've played, I can explore and find tokens and have fun challenges, and I'll have this all in my pocket! It's going to be amazing. That's all.

Had to watch the video three times, so perplexed I was about the comments here and elsewhere. Gameloft is certainly guilty of putting out laughable VO tracks in the past. This ain't one of them. There is literally nothing wrong with it. In fact, I would call that one of the better Spider-Man voices I've heard in ages. May I remind folks that, in a comic-book generation known for its whinny characters (the Fantasic 4 and the X-Men in particular), Spider-Man was by far the whinniest. The reason it succeeded as well as it did was that it captured the insecurities and self-pity of 1960's teen-nerd culture and gave it a brilliant fantasy release. Peter Parker was always a huge whiner; to make him sound badass or heroic is to completely betray the spirit of the character. The only thing I can say "negative" is that the delivery gets a little wooden in the end, like a high-school student delivering a speech. Well, guess what: that's exactly what Peter Parker is doing.

I'm not trying to be a GL apologist here: they have published games with terrible VO in the past. But people who think that that was terrible voice acting simply do not understand Spider-Man as a character. (And by the way, I'm writing this as someone who published an official Spider-Man novel about 12 years ago.)

Your assessment is kinda what I thought they should be going for.
By the way, which of the novels was it if you can tell us? That is a very cool and admirable thing to have achieved.

Totally agree, didn't hear anything wrong with it when I first heard it, doesn't sound any worse than the VOs they used for Total Mayhem.

Thanks! It's called "Venom's Wrath," and you can still find it in Amazon (probably through a dealer). It's co-written with Keith DeCandido. And before you ask, that's the only book I ever published -- I soon discovered that I didn't have the temperament to be a professional novelist.

To assume Max Payne pushes the capabilities of the PS2 is such a grossly uninformed opinion that it shouldn't even be taken seriously. The game is simply poorly optimized.

And I did finish Max Payne Mobile on my iPad 2, and it doesn't even come close to being a 60 fps game, sorry. It barely can hold 30 fps without drops (well, it does hold 30 fps for most of the time, to be fair). Granted, I didn't try on the new iPad, but I doubt it's the case unless they released a kickass upgrade after I finished the game.

Not that I think a PS2 is more capable than a new iPad or even the iPad 2, far from it, but using Max Payne as an example is simply hilarious.

Exactly, this is what spiderman should sound like. Big fan of the comics, still have some early 80s ones :)

Probably will never happen...I'd love to see "The Scorpion" appear as a villian.

Squarezero, I was a huge fan of 70s and 80s Spiderman comics. I really enjoyed "Sin Eater" and "The Scorpion" Mac Gargan version when he broke out of Prison during the mid 80s. A certain darkness was put into those story lines back then.

Spiderman 64 my friend, if you don't have the N64 get the ROM because scorpion is the first villain you encounter. But seeing him in a newer game would be nice too... Heck I'm off to go relive some childhood memories!
