Just needs to be optimized, I suppose. Just hope an update will arrive sooner than later. The console/PC version isn't looking good as well. Outdated graphics being one of the many concerns from those who have played it. Swinging mechanics is the only thing to look forward to. Now if only GL made the game with the same left and right web swinging mechanics as well, that'd be epic. But sort out the framerate issue first though.
I'm glad Gameloft made this game and had an internet connection requirement, how else would I get to enjoy a thread as great as this one. I have purchased Gameloft games for many years, since my Windows mobile 6.1 phone actually, but if this always online model is the future then I guess that this is the end of the line for me and Gameloft. Mobile games are for mobile devices, not all mobile devices have an always connected option, not all areas have data connections or connections can fluctuate like on a train or in a car, wifi isn't everywhere. When I purchase a single player game then I expect to play it wherever and whenever I wish, take this option away from me and I won't purchase the game. A great many mobile devices are not cellular, having the internet as a requirement reduces your potential sales, the pirates will still pirate the game, they number of potential real sales will diminish. I am a missed sale, there will be many others like me. Badly constructed games that push IAP's with paywalls and timers are putting the nail in the coffin of mobile gaming (especially games that have a premium initial pricetag), always online requirements will finish the job. Edit : I just checked some sites and pirate copies of this game already exist (as does the Captain America game) and it works (online) so you can download the pirate version and play it the same as a person who purchased it. How has the online only option worked in this instance with regards to solving the piracy problem.... In short, it hasn't, the pirated version has modded shopping as we'll so they have even circumvented the IAP's as far as I can see. It's a failed protection method by the look of it. Please remove this online madness requirement....
I'll ask and see. I know that it's something a lot of people have been asking for and I believe the Game CM made note of it in his community feedback report so the Dev team is aware of it. I've addressed this testing topic several times already in this thread. We do internal testing and QA, but as I've stated and others have as well, some issues aren't realized until a large release. Also, some issues are device specific. Since the game is optimized for the iPhone 5S, I'm surprised to see you're having issues. However, as we update it we are able to improve performance across all devices. Definitely doable with game updates!
Hi all! I'm Kyle, the Game Community Manager that Ryan has been mentioning recently. I'm located at our NYC Studio, so I work directly with the Product Manager and developers on our games. Hopefully this will help streamline communication between the community, users, and development team for TASM2 and our other games. I'm also active on the game's Facebook page, plus I update the in-game news too. Ryan will still be around here as well, so now you've got two 'Gamelofters' to chat with in this thread. I know the online requirement for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a big discussion point. This is currently one of the main things the team is looking into based on community feedback since launch. There is the piracy/cheater side to it, but above all a positive player experience is crucial. I can't promise any changes at the moment because the discussion is still ongoing internally (there is more to it than just "disabling it"), but hopefully we'll have more info soon! As Ryan mentioned, other issues related to performance and various bugs are being investigated too. We've also scooped up all your suggestions and passed them along. If you've got any questions, let me know!
Does this game have timers we would have to wait for upgrades or energy? If so, I imagine the online requirement is partially there so we can't set our internal clock ahead to get around the timers and speed up the waiting.
You are asking as if you don't own the game... You don't know this yet gave the game a one star? I personally don't agree with the games direction and online requirement, I made note of it in the upcoming thread but I didn't go as far as rate it negatively on this site because I haven't played it. I imagine if they removed the online requirement I would live up to my promise and buy this no questions asked. I just find it odd to leave a bad rating for a game one hasn't even played. Leave a comment, sure, but to rate something you haven't played seems very disingenuous...
No, there is no timers in the game for anything. And as Bool Zero said, rating with no experience or purchase of the game (you would know the answer to your own question if you had it) just invalidates the rating system and proves it pointless. Try and at least honour the purpose of a rating system rather than invalidating it. Welcome Kyle. Good luck with it.
So I need to spend $5 on a game that I won't play because it needs a constant connection and lags on my hardware?! Why in the world would I waste my money in order to tell everyone that I am gravely disappointed in this game and Gameloft's choices? Anyway, I took off my one star in hopes I won't be accosted in the future for my honest and unhostile opinion. And no, I will not be paying for this until it becomes the game I want. I already fell for their Captain America. So, I tried this gameplay model.
Hi thanks for stopping by, it's great to have someone to whom you can ask these questions to, so here goes.... As the game has already been pirated and the pirate version works for both iOS and Android, the IAP's have also been hacked, doesn't that make the online requirement for anti-piracy a fail? I want to buy this game but I can't as I play most games whilst travelling and I play on a tablet or iPod, you have effectively lost a sale as the people who install pirate versions were not going to buy it anyway. I know I am not alone and others feel the same, Gameloft have just decreased the install base of the game to those willing to pay for it. I was going to buy Captain America as we'll so that is two games you have lost a sale on.
Starting to wonder if I spend too much time at home. Everyone else in this thread seems to be out of the house all the time
I just lost 769 Spider-Points for stopping a car theft. Was one of the guys I punched a lawyer or something?
What the f<ck, I'm so fed up with this game, it keeps dropping on my iphone 5c, so I have come here for a refund, how do I get one? this stuipd always online sucks. Help me gameloft.
You really went to the effort to register an account to come here and say that and couldn't just type in "how to get a refund from the App Store" in to Google to get an answer quicker? Interesting. Just a note, expletives don't help your case and Google is a pretty effective tool.
------Google? What is google? Let me google up Google and see what I find. Sounds interesting.--- Anyway, any news on the internet connection thing, as this is just gonna sit in my wishlist until it's removed...
Refer back to previous page and post from Gameloft Kyle. Almost as easy as Google. Or just read it below.
All I am saying is that it compromises the validity and legitimacy of the rating system here on this site if all we ever do is down rate games we don't like with no experience of playing them (and likewise for games that we like but haven't played). Apple doesn't let you rate games without purchase for a reason (funnily enough though, they will let you rate music and movies without owning them) and the rating system still suffers problems with blind purchasers spending no time and just 5 starring a game because they bought it or vice versa, 1 starring a game because they didn't pay attention to the supported devices. Point is, I agree with your sentiment (I bought Captain America like an idiot thinking I would try to tolerate the online requirement and it's one of the few regretted purchases in a while and I buy games constantly for this platform) , I am just suggesting that it is not helpful to the community to rate a game you haven't personally played and claim to have a leg to stand on so staunchly against it. It's places ones credibility of position in the argument into question regardless of how well argued their opinion is. We don't like the online requirement... But since we haven't purchased the game the only people considering our opinions are the ones that already agree; leaving the ones that don't less likely to even entertain our opinion. At the end of the day, ones credibility on an argument has as much importance as what they have to say. Sorry, college debate has always stuck with me, even some 15 years after graduating...
Wait, which one? The swinging mechanics or just the framerate issue or both? One of the most jarring bug is the lost of voice/sound in cutscenes. I experienced it twice so far, once during the Aleksei encounter and another during the first encounter with the black cat. Hope this gets fixed on the upcoming update.
How is the performance on iPad mini 1st Gen and how big is it when it is installed on the device? Slowly I get ou of memory...
