Runs extremely well, sound is clear. Low res cutscenes still are but look as good as they’re going to. I haven’t compared the two versions side by side but my guess is this one is far smoother in its animations based on memory. However. The switch to a touch based UI is 90% awesome and 10% infuriating. Trying to turn and face the stairs sent me to both side doors multiple times because the touch points for turning and the doors overlap. Trying to solve the 3/5 letter puzzle has been horrible, because if you mistap the “highlight your touches” spectacles just a little, it exits and resets the puzzle because the touch point to do that is very close to the icon. Same if you’re not careful about touching outside the letters. And since if you don’t pick all the right letters in the right order it resets the puzzle, I’ve been through it more times than is fun now—almost solving it but not quite as I hit yet another wrong spot (not letter, spot) in the last stretch. As a pro tip for players, by the way, the dialog skip is the watch on the upper left. You’ll want that because each of these resets came with five lines of dialog to sit through. I was about ready to chuck my phone into the wall until I figured that out. In general the game has shown early issues with touch points that are either too close or completely overlapping. My hope is those will be quickly tuned, as the presentation otherwise is very good. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
