This. Those commercials are idiotic. Cherry picking dull games to make the PSP games look better. And of course making the iDevice owner look like a dork. But Marcus really needs a nice big steaming cup of STFU.
It's not worth doing the time for friend, put the sledgehammer down and move back slowly. You're going to get through this with a little anger management.
MARCUS!!! I WILL FIND YOU, AND KILL YOU, AND EAT YOUR FIRSTBORN! And BTW, PSPgo games are $20-$40 - only games 9.99 are the Minis.
Wait, you mean I can buy a brand new PSP with a game for 9.99? No? So I can't actually be playing that awesome looking golf game for 9.99 then? So I'll buy up to 10 different golf games on my iDevice instead? Also, I know he's a young kid, but do any of your grandparents know how to text? I tried to teach my Grandad how to text, so every now and then I get blank messages from him, or ones that just don't make sense.
Actually, that "golf game" is Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 - which by looking at the Store right now - costs $40.
Saw this commercial last night during the Jets v Giants game (sad game... ) and I couldn't help but think to myself: "OH SH!T ITS ON IT IS ON!!! RACE WARRRRRRR!!!! RACCCCEEEEE WAAAARRRRRRRR!!!!!!"
Laughed so hard this just made my day (even if it's hardly began). Marcus poor kid you'll be the bully's favorite in school hahaha. I feel so sorry for that girl sitting next to him on the bus. Btw, he looks like Tracy Jordan's son in 30 Rock.
The PSP sold less than 90,000 units in the US last quarter. That's pretty much all that needs to be said about this particular ad campaign. Outside of Japan, Sony's handheld has been in freefall for a while. The fact that they can't even identify who their real competition is (hint: it starts with N) explains a lot.
I think picking their battle against Apple instead of Nintendo is a smokescreen for being unable to come up with an effective campaign that can tear down the DS enough to make the PSP look better -- the strawman of the ad campaign world, you might say.
As annoying as the Marcus campaign is, I still think that the PSP doesn't get enough credit. I personally love my PSP, and so far it's the only system where I can download and play a few of my favorite PS1 games (although they could use a few more games), not to mention that it does have some great games, like Crisis Core. While it may not have as big of a selection as the DS or iPhone, it still has plenty of good games. Not only that, but it's technically fantastic, having some of the best graphics I've ever seen in a portable console. Just take a look at some games like SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny, Burnout Legends, or Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. I still find the PSP's latest ad campaign to be incredibly annoying, but I do like the PSP quite a bit, and it just doesn't seem to get enough credit for what it is capable of, rather than its lacking sales. I'm not trying to make it sound better than the iPhone or DS, since I enjoy all 3, but it just does what it does best, being recreating a console experience on a portable device.
