    Greetings everyone!

First off, I'd like to offer my thanks. I'm about to leave on a three-week trip and this forum has really helped me out in terms of recommending games for my iPhone. I grabbed about 30 or so based on recommendations here, and I'm very much looking forward to trying them.

    Now for the warning:

Being an avid gamer, I already had many games and an assortment of other apps on the phone. As I was synching up the new games and getting them off iTunes, I noticed something odd - some of the games didn't show up on the iPhone screen menus. They were just missing, even though iTunes claimed to have synched them in.

After some confusion, I got the idea that maybe the iPhone's screens were limited and did a search on the topic.

The answer: Yes. And you are in trouble if, like I did, you go beyond the limit of 9 screens worth of apps. They are on the iPhone, but you can't scroll over to them. Even worse? Apparently if you attempt to reboot the phone with too many apps (the number is about 130 or so), it will hang on the boot screen forever (I didn't test this myself - I don't want a locked phone).

After reading that, I was able to avoid that fate by deleting some apps, then going to the settings menu and resetting the home screen (which completely changed where everything was, but it did get every app left back onto existing screens). I rebooted successfully just to be sure, and the phone still works fine.

Hopefully they fix the 9-screen limit when they update the OS. It's bad enough having a limit at all - it's far worse to get a locked phone for going over it. Just thought I'd let you all know so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Anyway, I still love the iPhone, and am looking forward to the games you guys have recommended (and Zenonia, now that I've heard about it - I have a few spare spots on my 9th screen now :) ). Thanks again!

Yea, I really hate the 9-page limit, BUT Apple does have a reason for it. I think they are implementing a 13-page limit in the 3.0 update to fix that though. Your problem hasn't happened to me, mainly because I rarely sync my iPhone. Actually I haven't synced in about 5 months :p, so going over the limit hasn't been a problem for me yet.

  5. I have 300+ apps/games on my ipod touch 2G running beta 3.0 b5. No problems just use spotlight to search to bring them up. No crashes either. So bottom line just wait another month or so for OS 3.0 and all problems you have with 2.2.1 down the toilet.

Meh, I wish that were my problem. I've run out of memory after having to downgrade to an 8gb model after having my 16gb stolen. My music takes up about 4-5 gigs. And my apps are almost at 3. I had to get rid of Yes Man! Saving up spare change for the the iTouch 3G. *sigh*

The 13 page new limit under 3.0 will be great - as will the spotlight search action.

I have never understood this. Do you really need 148 apps on your iPod touch at a time? Are you going to use each one of those? I don't think so.

The real number is 131.. Apple uses the other 17.. It is not how many you will use.. it is how many you have not finished. You lose all progress when you remove an app.

No you don't, I have removed a game before and I still had all of my Progress when I re-installed it.
Also, to people who want extra pages now, just jailbreak

Not sure why you want to argue this point.. most games save in the app but there are a few that save it in the preferences on the iphone/ipod.

I agree with you there, some apps save within the apps, and some don't.

I have 111 paid games + 1 free game (Go TTR2) so that is 7 pages

The remaining 4 pages are for native apps and various other apps which I use daily either for work or entertainment purposes. Sure I don't use all the games and such, but they are there if I want them
