So, it's been covered before, but what happened to id software promising 2 classic games ported to the iPhone by the end of '08? I know early attempts of fpsay have worried them (zombie mansion), but alien mangle and the updates to cube have given hope to this fps infancy on the idevices. Any news??

Actually, iirc, it was one port and one all original game meant to push the platform's hardware. And id usually takes their sweet ass time with development (DOOM 3 was announced to be in development long before it was released). So...maybe this year.

It's more likely that they started development and had a product near gold status. Them Apple approached them about making it a premium game.

Haha yeah you're exactly right! Leaning on all the big game companies to make big games for their new 19.99 category. Still, maybeake the one classic port for normal app store to wet the pallet, and the all original game saved for the premium big name 1999 section.
