Textropolis is a persistent, free-play word discovery game. Travel around the word to different cities and discover as many words as you can from the letters of their names. Finding more words builds up each city, unlocks new ones, and adds to your total Textropolis population. Not shown in the video is a cool feature where you can email a postcard to a friend from within any city letting you show them your progress. You can also get hints for unfound words by shaking (at a price). One of the coolest features of all is that there are definitions for every word (I hate coming across new words without knowing what they mean)!

30 cities in the game, and believe me it will take you awhile to get high-stars on all of them. Also there are only so many 9-letter city names in the world and it took me awhile to find 30 with a large number of anagrams hidden in their letters!

    First Impressions:

Man this game is hard. The first city has 95 words and I can only find 14.

    EDIT: woot! 20 words

    EDIT AGAIN: 30 words

So the point of the game is to spell words using the letters from a city name?

Love it. Just what I expected from this game. Simple design puts you straight into the game without unnecessary clutter. Large keys make it very easy to type, and the plane flying across providing definitions after finding out a word is a nice touch, as some words I already discovered - I didn't know existed. :p

What I like the most though, is that the game is not a race. Just kick back relax and enjoy it. I'm sure if the game is successful, in the future you might want to implement Time Modes for those who enjoy that, but this is a nice easy going word game where you don't have to be stressed out and rush your thoughts because of a time limit. Good change of pace from a lot of other word games where it is all about how quick you are.

One thing that might be interesting and add a little more depth to the game is implementing fun facts/history about the cities you unlock every time you reach a new star. I thought that may be sort of a cool achievement, especially for those of us who are interested in geography.

All in all, this is great. Great job!

    ----

You have to find x words to unlock a new city. Also, the more words you discover, the more people move into your Textropolis and more buildings will be constructed on your screen. There is also a star rating - comparable to the system of rating apps - that reflects how many words you have found, and trust me, once you get all the easy words out of the way, finding all of them will be a great challenge. No worries about how long the game will last you.
