Is there any way to tether your iPhone without jailbreaking it? I had my first iPhone Jailbroken but I really don't want to deal with that anymore since I now have the data plan w/ ATT and don't care about changing the theme. The only thing i need is tethering and I know netShare is gone  any Ideas??

  2. You're SOL. Apple won't approve tethering apps, bottom line. It's jailbreak or nothing.

It's AT&T who won't allow it, not Apple: AT&T charges extra for tethering (on any phone), so the feature must be tied to an AT&T plan. It can't be a standalone app or people would get that services for free. (In AT&T's mind, people will generate more data traffic if they tether than if they don't. Could be true.)

I expect Apple and AT&T are working that out--probably as a built-in feature of the iPhone software. That doesn't mean it's top priority, but I have little doubt that tethering--as a paid AT&T plan--will come at some point.

I believe an upcoming tethering option has already been announced.

Could be. I probably put it out of my mind since there's no WAY it's worth what AT&T charges for me :p I'd love laptop tethering... for $5 a month. Just on the months when I travel. Otherwise, there's not much I can't do on my iPhone already--and that includes emergency Photoshop and Flash edits for my clients, in a pinch.

There's a rumor that it will be $30 a month.

But you could always jailbreak. :D

I say stick to legal stuff with jailbreaking... don't give Apple a reason why they have to stop you... even if that reason is AT&T :)

$30 or even $20 is way too much for me. Clearly not a consumer-oriented option. I hope they add the option for serious business users who need it though.
