Like others I'm now experience the freezing when trying to load my file on my iPad Mini after recent update and I also installed the iOS 7 update. Might want to hold off on updating until this is resolved.
Restarting the phone didn't resolve the freezing so I ended up backing up the Documents folder using iFunbox. Reinstalled and then restored the Documents folder and things are now working again.
Uninstalling/reinstalling worked but deleted my save. I had to fully erase and start my iPad mini from a previous backup to get the game/game saves to work. Tho if you go that route be sure you have a recent backup on iCloud.
Uninstall and reinstall. It worked for me. You'll have to use ifunbox or something to backup your save files though. It's kind of a pain but I got mine working. iPhone 5s and iOS 7.0.1 Edit: The update didn't fix any of my problems. Still can't make the spectre boots, game still crashes when I try to buy something from the merchant. I didn't check my other problems, but I'm guessing they aren't fixed either. It doesn't look like they did much of anything except make it worse.
Did you properly try what I recommended? Crafting spectre boots didn't work for me either until I did it. The Merchant crashes for me too. I regret updating because I have to use iFunBox now to save my data. So question, what files do I drag?
This is terrible!!! I seriously just put like 15 hours into this game mining hours on end building a kicka$$ castle. I can't even get past the play screen so I'm not sure if my save is effected buy the bugs in the update. It's such a great game I definitely going to rebuild if needed but, I really hope I don't have to. At least shadowrun is out to tide me over until the issues are resolved.
Yeah. I tried all the suggested tricks to get it to show up. I never got it to work. Soooo.... about the other problem... I'm having problems this morning. For some reason when I got up this morning I looked at my App Store and Terraria had an available update. I think what happened was that I updated to 1.0.1, then experienced the problem, deleted the app and then went back to the App Store to re-download. Except the app wasn't updated on the App Store doing a regular search. So I ended up downloading the old version. I've never seen this happen before, yet I have never had to delete a game and re-download for something like this either. Anyways... After I did the update again this morning it broke again. I was able to get it working though, but only if you have one character and one world file. I have a few other ideas to get it working so I'll probably test a couple other things tonight. I'll post if I get something else working. But for now, try this... Just in case do an iTunes backup before proceeding. Download ifunbox, plug your phone in. Go to the Terraria folder and open Documents. Save all of the files in this folder to your desktop. Then after they are saved, delete the files. Open Terraria on your phone, it should let you get past the "play" button now. Make a new character (doesn't matter what he looks like) and call him the exact same thing you called your old character. Once you create your character create a world using the same exact name of the world you wish to play. The map should load up. Now exit to main menu and close the app. Go back to ifunbox, open the documents folder and copy the two files from your desktop into the documents folder. Open Terraria on your phone and hit play, it should let you past the freezing point now. It may freeze for a second here but mine loaded after a couple seconds. If I try this same method and add my other characters and maps it breaks it again. I think this break has something to do with the save files. They added a bug fix that fixes corrupt save files with this update. I'm assuming it has something to do with this. When you hit play it converts the files or something but for whatever reason it's hanging up on this process. Like I said I have a couple other ideas I'll try tonight when I get back from work. Let me know if this works for you. Also, for those of you that have used the ifunbox transfer how did you get it to work?
It really pains me to see you guys trying to recover your old saves, which were probably a lot more advanced than mine, and yet here I am, with my old version of terraria :/
Same I feel bad that I didn't update. However I just found a shadow key does anyone know where shadow chests are?
Terraria keeps freezing/crashing on my iPod Touch 5G after update; similar problems here. Worst update ever.
The underworld or the area at the bottom of the map where the background becomes a dark wall with red veins over it.
I still have the previous .ipa file on my laptop. So I'll delete this one and resync that version after I give up on this. Between the previous bugs and this problem I've been a little frustrated with this game lately. I stopped playing for a little while because of the bugs so when the update was available I rushed to download it. Who knew it was going to make it worse...
It's so painful when you really get into the game and get a bit addicted to it and then you can't play it at all, I really hope this is all patched by next week. I really miss playing it.
Oh I really hope so. 1.2 looks great. I really want to get Terraria on PC, but all I have is a Mac, so no Terraria or Fc3 for me. At least Mark of the ninja is supported. I love that game so much.
