This is interesting. Not sure who grave is because my starter archer is just called "archer" So is this to say that this type of archer is contributing nothing if chained from afar? And that megabow and gigaboe do nothing if chained from afar? Like don't even activate. I haven't noticed yet. If so....is that not really misleading? How are we to know which attacking character will actually contribute and which will not?
Grace is one of two starting characters you get. I am guessing you got Bahl. Every character in the chain attacks, but having a bow adds no range or anything. Megabow and gigabow do not activate unless next to the enemy. The only abilities that do are those that affect stats or status or attacks that specifically delineate a longer range (shadow might be misleading in this regard).
Thanks. So let me get this straight. So any character chained will contribute their base attack, but if their skill isn't a ranged type like megabow apparently isnt, then it won't activate the skill unless they are next to the enemy So my archer with megabow does not activate in chain yet my piz'fer with first skill being ice, pincer area, 50% will activate chained from afar (I've seen it). So...like....how do we decipher which will and which won't? This is an example of where I feel like this game needs more on screen information. Such as those question marks next to skills which apparently explain what they do. Just looked at the one from megabow, it says "attack with a bow". Ok thanks. Seriously, so how do we tell which character can activate skill from afar?
Yep! You got it. Yeah I agree generally though most area skills or column/rows can be assumed to attack from afar. Besides a few pincer exceptions, everything else is close range.
Wow. Mind blown. Did not know that. With so much flashing up during every mini battle and which all those chances of skills actually happening (like 50% and what not), I was just assuming that the bow stuff was actually long distance, it's just that my luck was really bad when I was watching out for it. This changes a lot of things. And this app deadset needs to explain stuff like this. Those little question marks could be used to explain so much more. Frustrating how every description is just like "attack with a bow" "attack with ice" "a sword". Lol. Seriously devs, I've thought that from day one. So then next question: What is the difference between using your average bow guy vs using your average sword guy if both need to be next to the enemy in order to activate their abilities. Must admit, I'm a little dissapointed if a bow character is really no dif to a sword character. Edit: apart from that triangle relationship of sword beats bow, bow beats spear, and spear beats sword l. (Hope I got that right because it's not totally logical.
I've been using the metal zones but only really for my best team (they're all 33-35). It feels like a waste to use it to level up my C class guys but I think that it will be necessary to progress.
Any other tips for the 12-2 boss? I seem to miss his flails an inordinate amount, should I be aiming only at the stonekin? I don't have a ton of elemental characters either so focusing on leveling my C spearmen.
Glad I'm not the only one who hadn't realized this right away. I would have SWORN that I'd seen megabow work in a chain. Again, it was during pudding time runs with fewer than 6 characters that I realized something was screwy.
Oh those flails are indestructable. DO NOT attack them. It's a waste of a turn. If you want you can spread out your team (which is a bit difficult) in order to avoid having so many people in the flail hitbox. Only attack the boss and make sure your healer is never inside one of the hitboxes. I'll give him a try later today and see if I can figure out some other tips. Maybe attacking him with the weapon he is weakest to help? I can't remember what weapon he was off the top of my head.
This is correct; Any archer who has "Megabow (area)" doesn't have to be next to the monster (but they still need to be included in a chain) for that skill to activate. However, it has limited range. Btw, there's going to be more new characters added to the game since there was another milestone that was reached today (not talking about Sheena since she can already be recruited). Not sure when, though.
Loving the gameplay on this one. Still haven't gotten an S or SS though. The only big downside to this so far is that every time I play, I hit the stamina wall and have to stop playing in 30 minutes or less. Really disappointing when I'm getting on a roll. Is there any way to increase your overall stamina? I just wish we could have a separate stamina for every team we create (meaning each team would have different characters), sort of like in Injustice. I feel like that would alleviate some of the waiting.
Hey Curt! It does increase after each chapter complete but stamina costs increase for each new chapter. Unfortunately there's not much you can do once you get addicted besides $$$.
Makes me wonder how they'll handle a console version if it indeed comes to that. I'm just excited for the guide book and soundtrack releases... again, if they get enough downloads. Since I rerolled a few times, I probably count as 5 so far. Better put it on the iPads too. Dang free to play.
Got my unasag to job 3 in one go...His abilities are so bad im not sure how I can handle it. Finding out job 3 had higher stats made this game so complicated. Like how long should I raise previous jobs? Until I get the abilities I want? Are the new jobs even worth it? Also someone PLEASE tell me what demoralization guard does...
Demoralization makes units miss their attacks, guard (obviously) protects the character(s) from this.
I guess it's a matter of choice. Look what are the skills you'll have when up. If they you like them. Then raise the level. What's cool about jobs (as in FF series) you can merge them with other jobs. Unasag has pretty good skills in the 2nd job.
I might be wrong, but: It seems like just playing the regular chapter stages actually yields more drops in the long run (than the hunting grounds, at least at Hunt 1 stage). Plus, you get a chance to get a monster drop and a little bit of exp and gold. I just played 5-5 for funsies and got 400 gold, 5k exp, and five drops (Bowstring, Benev Fang , Lightning Ring, Claw of Fate , Serenity Shoot). No chance at the more rare drops, but... And this was with a party of Lvl 18 to 26, so you don't have to use low-level scrubs to get the drops, it seems. . . (decided to try some more) . And: 3-2 gave me Swordsteel, Beneveloent Fang, and White Ring, and a Lizardman Knight drop to boot! He can keep the Human Knight, Beastman Knight, Sabretooth King, Sabretooth, White Sabretooth, Ra'prow, Spinetrich, and Triscorp company. And: 3-5 gave me Claw of Fate and Ice Ring.
Trust me. Hunting Zone 2 and Metal zone 2 gives you more exp, coins and rare items that you ever seen in chapters.
