    Tutorial

    Hello Dudecoolguyman, did you go through the tutorial once or twice? It explains all the active abilities and how combat works. Shields that are left over at the end of combat are gone, so use them when you think your enemy will hit you pretty hard. If you do not know if your enemy will hit you hard, that is part of the game. Learning which critters are nasty and which are easy.

    Trying going through the tutorial once again, and let me know if you have any more questions. All feedback is appreciated. Other people have said to include maybe a quick tool tip description for the abilities, so that is on the list, but not at the top.

    Would it be possible to have the player sprite come in different colors you could select? Just add a bit of customization.

    I find that now I recognize the enemies to run from and ones weak to bows, magic or swords. It breaks down to if it looks like it'll beat you down it probably will. If they have a stave the use Magic, have a shield and spear they use physical attacks, etc.

    And if you're having more issues pump up your identify skill a lot. It'll help big time with enemies, shrines, and items.

    By the way the new sprites look fantastic. The variety of enemies surprises me, I always seem to run into something new.

    Edit: have a little "I" button that allows a person to click an icon and have it say what it does. That'd probably resolve the issue. Sometimes I do forget what sometimes what the stats are and do. But honestly it doesn't matter as there's no real cap so putting points in the wrong thing can't hurt you. Or an inventory screen so you know what buffs, curses and items you've picked up would be nice.

    Customization

    Hello V Koulema, being honest I will probably not add customization to the templar in the near future, but I do plan to down the line. Before I add customization to the current Templar I will add a female templar(Kick ass armored female templar, not bikini armored templar). I wanted to include female templar at launch but was unable to. I do want to represent females in the game, so female templar will happen before customization(no solid ETA on this).

    There are a ton of monsters/items in the game and I enjoy variety so I do see a lot of customization in the future. Not only visual, but adding different classes, skills, etc. I do have to take this process one step at a time however. Again I see this a long term project, not a quick buck(small one at that currently LOL). I think the game is already worth the 1.99 but I do want to give the users even more bang for their bucks. After I feel the game is what I want it to be I will move on to another game(might be templar Infinite Crusade 2, who knows).

    End Game direction

    Hello everyone. I need some feedback on a particular issue. A friend of mine is currently #1 on the leaderboards and has killed about 17 or so elder ones. During my playtests I never made it past 8 due to time/testing issues. I will explain the issue both in math terms, and for folks who hate math I will also give a general description.

    **Math description**Difficulty scales in a linear fashion, distance gold rewards and some bonus rewards scale exponentially, combat gold and some bonus rewards scale in a linear manner. After you reach far enough into the game maybe 12 or 13 bosses is an estimate, the exponential increase in rewards outpaces the linear increases in difficulty thus effectively making the game easier and easier due to the availability of excess gold to train skills. Not to mention the crusades gets absurdly long which is not what I had in mind for a "mobile game". Walking 340 screens to reach a boss is too much.**End of math Description**

    **general description** In the early game difficulty scales pretty well. After killing 12 or so bosses the game becomes easier and easier due to the huge gold rewards. Also crusades become way to long in my opinion.**end of general description**

    While many people will not ever kill these many elder ones I do want to keep as many people as possible happy and playing the game. If I do not correct this, there will come a time when the crusades will be so long this will feel more like a chore than a "quick game". Here I am proposing some solutions. I would appreciate feedback. Keep in mind that whatever changes occur, I will try to keep the leaderboards unaffected so leaderboards progress will not be lost, but it might change a bit.

    Solution 1(I think is my favorite)*************************************

    Rebirth/prestige

    - After killing a set amount of bosses the templar will "reset" back to level zero but have a "rebirth" point added. There would be infinite rebirth. The bosses , distances and difficulties also reset(keeping the games short), but overall there will also be a small increase in difficulty. So a level 1 templar at rebirth 1 will have a slightly harder time than a a level 1 templar at rebirth zero. The benefit is that for each rebirth point once per crusade a templar can use that point to use whatever skill he needs. Did you run out of fireballs and heals? Use your rebirth point for whatever one you need the most. Each skill would consume a rebirth point. Rebirth points a re replenished at the start of every crusade.

    PROS- Shorter games, difficulty is always there, more skill uses with rebirth points.Leaderboards for rebirths/skills.

    Cons- Feeling of loosing your progress(statwise, as rebirthing itself does feel like progress.)

    Solution 2
    Rebalance gold/difficulty

    Less gold at higher difficulties.

    pros- no progress lost.

    Cons- games can get pretty long and feel like a chore. No rebirth points (due to leaderboards the rebirth has to be mandatory for everyone after a set amount of bosses or not be in the game).

    ***************************************************************
    Solution 3

    Leave game as is.

    Pros- no progress lost, end game is easier.

    Cons - very very long games near end game. Absurd amount of time spent raising skills due to huge amounts of gold vs playing the game.
    ****************************************************************

    I believe the rebirth mechanic would be best as it would keep the game from becoming a chore. Short difficult bursts is what I am aiming for. Rebirth points used for skills also sounds like another fun way to keep the game fresh. More flexibility for the templars to counter the increase in difficulty. Maybe rebirth after every 5 or 6 bosses.

    This was a long read, but I do like to ask folks what they think, and not just change the game willy nilly. Please post thoughts here.

    Alright I've killed two elders so far so my opinions are a little tempered. I don't mind the long trudges to bosses but when i trudge 60+ screens and get enough gold to raise two stars it's frustrating. If I slay 17 elders and I'm super godlike I wouldn't mind because I've fought in the trenches and now I'm a master Templar badass. It does suck for leaderboards as the leader is 300+ steps ahead of me so I've lost faith of reaching the top. Id leave the game as is.

    If you do opt for rebirth, or a new game+ deal, maybe add titles or something. Something like squire, journeyman, Sargent Templar... I don't know. Something trivial to add but helps you feel like you're still progressing. Dark souls for new game pluses adds new enemies and equipment. So maybe that's an option? Add a unique "endboss" elder that you need to slay to reach the next rebirth. I would beg that if you do decide this route you keep maybe a separate counter. One for the current rebirth and one for the grand total. So when in rebirth 20 I can see the 3000 elders I've slain in total. I weirdly love to see the massive stats I amass in games.

    I wouldn't go for the Lower gold option. It'll turn into a massively painful grind fest.

    Anyways sorry for the ramble.

    Tomorrow my friend is coming over. I will be playing the game myself at that level. He is currently distance 300+. I might leave the game as is, that is why I am asking folks what they think. If a rebirth is added, all the leaderboard stats will be from total skill ups across all rebirths, so say you have rebirthed 3 times and have raised your sword 200 in each rebirth the leaderboard number would be 600.The number will always go up, giving you the same "race to the top" feeling. Of Course there will also be a rebirth leaderboard. Current progress in leaderboards will probably remain.

    The lowering of the gold(assuming I balance this) would only come into play very late in the game, after 13 or so elders, anything below that will remain untouched. I will playtest quite a bit tomorrow and see how the 300+ distance game feels. Will provide info after I play.

    Rebirth

    Hello all. After playing the game in what I consider end game(After killing 15 or so elders), the excess gold makes it way too easy and it becomes a tap fest with zero thinking. To avoid this I will have to implement the rebirth system. Leaderboards will add all stats across the rebirth so numbers will always rise, difficulty will increase a bit after a rebirth, but you will either get points to distribute or an extra skill use per rebirth. Will be working on this now, hope to submit patch to apple near the end of december. If you have any questions please let me know.

    I am doing this for two reasons. 1 - keep games short and difficult. 2- Rebirth levels are probably a better if not the best way to measure progress via leaderboards instead of other stats.

    Hey there,

    First thanks for the code however I just bought the game. So you can still use that code for someone else.

    I've played the game for several hours. I have yet to be strong enough to kill an elder. I'll just have to keep at it! I like the game. I cannot wait until you get the better art work. I have not had any issues playing the game. There hasn't been a single crash or slowdown. I like the upgrades and and the gameplay. I think the only thing I would change is having to constantly press to go to the next screen after defeating an enemy. Maybe put a toggle so you could choose whether it moves forward on it own or keep the same button. Also just a spelling issue. It's lose not loose. It's a good game and has a little bit of everything from turn based combat to the rogue like elements. It all comes together nicely
