I consider myself fairly adept at squad level tactics but this game is making me question that as I've now repeatedly failed the bomb-delivery mission that comes fairly early. It's not that I don't understand what to do, it's always because either the captain or the NPC guy gets ambushed by a newly spawned mob who gets a lucky crit. So, cheers for not making it a cake-walk; definitely an old-school trait.
I'm glad your enjoy the challenge! The spawning location are all marked in the map with a nest or whole in the ground, so you should be able to at least anticipate where they will come from. Drop an Overwatch on a nearby spawning location and your Soldiers will get free fire when the enemies spawn. The release after next includes the ability for Hydra's to "cap" a spawning location with their flame throwing ability. Vae Victus Templar, you'll make them pay!
We always include a real difficulty scale in all of our games. If you've mastered a lower difficulty, there is a real change in stepping up and trying harder levels. If you go down to Easy, you can get a cakewalk of sorts, and if you go up to Nightmare or Ironman, you're asking for punishment (and the glory that comes with it)
I completed on normal difficulty, but only by being very cautious with the key chars, rather than the bomb itself. I found the subsequent missions a breeze, believe I was overthinking the bomb mission.
Awesome! Glad you're back on the move Having an escort like that can shake up the squad protection priorities in a dangerous way, and as you said, put your Captain at undue risk. The titan bomb is actually pretty tough and can take a few hits. Later, you'll face missions with squishier escort objectives!
The "cannot scroll or zoom" bug happens for me after I get an iOS notification. Once it kicks in I have to restart the game to get zoom back. iPhone 6+ latest iOS.

cool, I am kind of a "burn them all and let Shalun sort them out" kinda soldier. I love the extent of the tech tree, I am going to experiment with a "heavy squad" if I ever beat the game
Hahaha, burn them up! Don't miss trying out the Neptune too. If you want a quick start to try other setups, start a new game and there is a checkbox "skip initial deploy (5 levels)" which can get you right into the game with a higher level squad and enough RP to try out any one of the Templar types.

Hi can't think of anything in particular that causes it to happen it is not from leaving the app it could possibly be from a notification as i have noticed somebody else has the same proplem after a notification. I will see if that is what it is or not and post a reply. Cheers
