Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but im going mad and am just appealing for help with this one. Is it normal that every time I sync my ipad2 with itunes it re-installs every app that is already on the ipad? This is causing me major headache! E.g If I am away from the house and update one of my apps via wifi, when I get home and plug the ipad2 into the computer, itunes will re-install the app on the ipad, but it is the version stored on the computer, NOT the updated version which I downloaded on the ipad! Also, this results in syncing taking forever since some of the larger apps take several minutes to be (re)installed. I would really be grateful if someone could help me out with this because it's starting to drive me insane. I have tried restoring to factory settings, also reinstalling itunes. Many thanks for any help anyone can provide me
Nope doesn't sound right to me but I can't be of much help putting it right unfortunately. All I can suggest is making sure you have itunes authorise the computer. I've found itunes to be seriously annoying on occasion and even claim my account had never been used once but nothing quite so serious. Might be worth taking this one to apple store and having them check it out.
Ok, I did some digging around and found a program called iphone explorer, which enabled me to look at the files on my ipad and I found these 3 present in the Media folder. They are all "LOCK" files which doesnt sound good! com.apple.dbaccess.lock com.apple.itdbprep.postprocess.lock com.apple.itunes.lock_sync I deleted the files and the problem went away completely, the sync worked perfectly and all of the purchases I made transferred properly. However, Once it had synced correctly and I had disconnected the ipad, upon re-connecting it, the files were back again and the problem had returned! DOH! What could be causing these files to re-occur?!? I feel like im onto something here, but I just need a bit of help identifying what to do. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated Edit:- New INTEL - OK, ive checked how my iphone 4 works when I check it in iphone explorer, turns out, I was not on the right track exactly. These files are supposed to be there, as they were all present on my iphone 4 as well. There is actually a file missing - com.apple.itunes.syncing. This file is NOT present on the ipad, but is present on the iphone. I then decided to copy the file to the ipad, the sync again worked perfectly. so I am thinking that the file is necessary for preventing the problem I am experiencing. Again, the problem occurs when I disconnect the ipad and then re-connect the ipad, the file dissapears and I am left with the 3 remaining files and the sync is broken again. I am getting close I can feel it, but no cigar yet
