Has been my go-to game this week. Myrkul likes this. stubbieoz Well-Known Member Jun 23, 2015 1,880 358 83 Male Grey haired gamer NSW Australia #4 stubbieoz, Mar 11, 2021 Wow! Check out all the iap’s Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,616 377 83 #5 Talbs, Mar 11, 2021 They are basically unlocks for each character though. Considering that we get the game for free, having a direct path to pay for characters if we want makes some sense does it not? That said I’d understand an opinion that they are pricey. However there’s basically 4 (and more) characters obtainable for about $8-9 (currency) vs StS ~$12. It’s near the market rate, and you CAN obtain the characters to play with for the price or you can even entirely gain them from gems which are given from playing or in bulk for watching ads. IMO, not the best way for me, but I understand it and the opportunity to obtain characters is there for everyone. stubbieoz Well-Known Member Jun 23, 2015 1,880 358 83 Male Grey haired gamer NSW Australia #6 stubbieoz, Mar 12, 2021 It’s not just the need to purchase other “characters”, though the iap’s sound like guilds or clans, it’s the total $28.93AUD that is required to get them all (which knowing the completest in me, I would probably want). It’s the availability to also purchase gems that concerns me. Games that have in game currency available for real money always makes me feel somewhat nervous. With that being said the game looks interesting so I’ll give it a go. mgambino Well-Known Member Aug 13, 2014 159 95 28 #7 mgambino, Mar 12, 2021 I’m sort of the same. If I see IAPs, and they are unlocks for expansions/characters/remove ads and things like that, I have no problem. I get nervous when I see that AND premium currency. Not saying it can’t be done, but I’m less likely to try it out. Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,616 377 83 #8 Talbs, Mar 13, 2021 I think you should take a look at how the gems work. I think you might be thinking that they purposed for something else. The gems help you buy characters if you want to do part ad watching and part with gems, or part from your gem rewards in game. The iap offers many options. Also, like I said, you can literally buy 4 characters for ~$9. If you want to buy more characters, all in for about ~$20, then that’s your call. But 4 characters which can be had for $9 vs 4 in StS at ~$12 means this is on par, though this game just offers more characters as well if you want to make that choice. You can collect a lot just by playing and watching those goddamn ads. I will also unlock a 5k faction today. I bought the 10k faction for support. actually the game have been released on android for a while. There are multiple booster pack à la Pirate Outlaws wich costs money. Then you have other play mode. Like pre determined heroes and deck, competition and more. So gems will be more useful and serves more purpose as the game get updated. The game is damn good. I really love it. I’d pay 15$ just to get rid of all in game ads. Then would get a more premium feeling. But the game is so fun to play. For once I’ll let this « not so good » business model slide... stubbieoz Well-Known Member Jun 23, 2015 1,880 358 83 Male Grey haired gamer NSW Australia #10 stubbieoz, Mar 13, 2021 If ads remain, even if just as a choice, I probably will end up giving it a miss, even though I still will try the free version when I get a chance. I have learned from past games that continue to offer ads, that I will always be inclined to watch them, to get the rewards. I now prefer to just play a game with no option whatsoever of watching ads (I already have heaps of unfinished bought games that have no ads anyways) ...... apart from taking away any immersion you get when playing, they waste too much of my already, very limited, gaming time. ThirdMoon Well-Known Member May 21, 2014 124 18 18 #12 ThirdMoon, Mar 13, 2021 While I do get where you are coming from, this is one game that is not ruined by the ads. You really can ignore them and the IAPs and still have a lot of fun while unlocking everything. It’s a good solid StS / lane combat game with some real depth, given away free. Of course it’s up to you whether it’s worth adding to your backlog, but I wouldn’t dismiss it based on the monetisation model. Talbs and Ijipop like this.
