You'll be hard pressed to get an argument out of me on the whole crashing or not working situation, I think that's unacceptable for any app to not work as expected after Apple approving it/testing it themselves. I would be side- ways as stated whether $.99 or $99. But as far as the comparisons/file size, let's take a look at the original: -Game consists of a couple different colored sprites w/2 frames of animation. -The scenery consists of pixelated polish. -There's 3 diferent 5 color pixelated scene's. The original tapper will hold a place in my heart forever. Like games you mentioned, Q-Bert, etc, it was one of few games you could pop a quarter into and for a few moments have a blast playing it, no matter how many times you've already played it, strangely creating some kind of cult replay value. The remake has: -11 brightly colored lush sceneries. -Don Bluth smooth animation for each sprite. -Touch controls (I know duh) -Different characters is a useless mention. -Drink swapping and power-ups (not just tips like the original). -Customers wanting specific drinks, making harder/varied gameplay. -Mini games/Trophy/Drink Room -HD graphics/Retina Display I'm not a developer so I can't say all that stuff justifies the file size, but I can say it differentiates itself enough from the original to not just be considered a "polished mame" game. As I said above, look at the abomination we got with Double Dragon on iOs. Yes, it's new, different and still fun to play but I'll call that one a "polished mame" game with you all day.
Fourth level Nashville is impossible for me to beat! Any tips? And if this level is so hard I shutter to see the rest! Edit: it is the post a problem phenomenon - as soon as I post this, I go back and play and boom unlock Whistler. This is interesting as I had been expecting a crash in Nashville somewhere on the iPod Touch but didn't get one. I thought if it was bad I could always play on the phone for the time being, but I made it through what appears to be the dreaded zone!
http://www.gamezebo.com/news/2009/05/22/interview-plants-vs-zombies-creator-george-fan It gave George Fan the idea of 5 multitasking lanes! I saw this in 2009 and it made me realize why I love PvZ so much. It's offtopic, but here's another interesting interview about PvZ: http://www.next-gen.biz/features/flower-defence It even shows the Zombie Dog that got cut! I really love Tapper!
I'm slightly annoyed with this game. While I was happy to see an update, it didn't correct my issue. I am not a Verizon customer and am using s 3GS. The game crashes for me on every level. The last game I played it crashed then immediately after another app randomly opened. I really want to play this and hope to see some resolve.
Still won't work on my legacy device, even after a reset. The screen goes black after the push notification and touching the device throws you back to the iOS menu. Frustrating.
I'm having occasional crashes but at the ends of levels. My main concern here is that they've totally missed the point of the original; the gameplay is much less engaging, the combo requirement is incomprehensible and my powerups appear to break combo. So I sit there working out how many points are required for expert, and what the best combination of combo score plus tips is to get it, and then aim at that. Very dull and surely not what was intended? And I've been playing Tapper, since, er, 1983. Feels like a game where they lost the gameplay in their rush to update the graphics.
Did anyone here manage to get pass the 5th level of the Dublin stage?? it loops back to last level at casual..Hence, i cannot unlocked the Munich stage...
Had this game since launch but never really got around to playing it much. Since the iTunes Connect freeze this past week I've been able to catch up on a bunch of backlogged games, this being one of them, and WOW is this fun! Very fast and frantic! Once I learned to use my powerups correctly (only when you need them since they break current combos) I've been playing every level nonstop until I 3-star them. Anyone know if there are plans for more future content updates like that Halloween one or anything else? Just wondering if I should delete after I beat all current levels or keep it on for a while. That 400+ mb file size is taunting me... Edit: Make that 553 mb...
I’m sorry I’ve been going through my favorite iOS games folders and have been progressively getting sadder and sadder. Tapper, Emberwind, Frogatto, both Rolando’s, Castle of Illusion, Glowfish, Rocketcat’s Hook Trilogy, Midway Arcade, Project 83113, everything Llamasoft. I could go on but it’s just so increasingly frustrating to think about the history of fantastic mobile gaming that is (likely) forever lost and will never be played again. Even worse, not archived in any significant way.
