mojojojo82 - Can you confirm your OS is also iOS 9? sandemann - thanks for giving us device stats. We think we have at least narrowed down this random crash to iOS 9 devices. None of our debug builds have been able to replicate it yet, so tracking this one down is proving to be very difficult. We have done some research and found that some warnings have turned into error/crashes from iOS 8 to iOS 9 (it seems Apple is always changing stuff). If you have iOS 9 and ran into this bug, and you really want to keep playing, unfortunately the only current work around is to delete the app and reinstall it. IAP is retrievable since they are non-consumable. We hope to squish this bug as soon as one of our debug build tests runs into it. Never thought I would be spending this weekend working on Tap Transcend, but we really want this experience to be as good as we intended it to be. Thanks for your patience.
Deleted right as I saw iad. There are far better ways to gain revenue as a free game. The banner on top really takes away from the experience. If the dev actually care change it to an video function for extra points or whatever.
What? Listen it's a good game. The devs have to eat. I am very anti ad. If they didn't provide a way to pay to get rid of the ads I could see your point. But you have no point. You can easily click the button, pay a dollar, and never see another ad ever again. It takes a lot of time and effort to code. From reading this thread it's pretty apparent these devs actually care about their game. They are on top of every bug. They are making every effort to incorporate feedback. These are the people we should be supporting. I paid $2 for the package deal AND I still watch the ads for the bonus. This game is worth it. Billy
Thanks guys, Yes, we chose iAd since they are very reliable and consistent especially for a group that is trying to start off. We indeed have 2 IAP options to remove these forever, and as 8BitFlash pointed out you can always play in airplane mode although I obviously advice against this from a business standpoint We plan to make some true premium games in the near future, but it is very hard to break into the app gaming world without a name standing behind you, and we are just on our beginning growth phase. We are excited to see there are already people on our leaderboard breaking into the 3rd play through and we just launched this leaderboard days ago. If you are looking for a new leaderboard to top, give Tap Transcend a tap!
Nice Billy! My one friend's goal is to always be on top of the leaderboard, he is about to be on prestige 6! We just submitted V 1.0.2 to Apple. There is no real content update this time, we just added a crash reporting system, Crashlytics, to help us finally get to the bottom of some of these crashes people are reporting back to us. We have some small additions we are adding next in V 1.0.3. Any developers out here use Crashlytics and/or have anything else or better out there? Thanks
I mentioned Tap Transcend on the Pocket Tactics forums, just to help get the word out. Currently on my 4th playthrough. When does the ship starting posing a challenge?
Thanks Duranki! That is very nice of you.. we should probably focus more time on marketing while we are stuck with this iOS 9 bug until V 1.0.2 is out and we get our crash reports. Instead we are working on a new game we might submit this weekend (developers ADD). Unfortunately we did not get to test V 1.0.1 for weeks, we pushed it right away, so we are honestly not sure when the enemy will start to become a challenge in real gameplay. We will reveal our equation to you though: The mothership takes 0.9^(prestige - 1) damage. It is exponential in nature so we know eventually it will become 'impossible' but we obviously couldn't sit there for weeks testing that value. We will adjust these numbers as our players report back to us. You can do the simple math if you really want to know when it will become hard We are kind of at a waiting point till V 1.0.2 with crash reporting is out, and then we are going to spend a week or so fixing this crash and optimizing the code to fix the remaining bugs we know about. We have found out quickly software is an iterative process. We will then eventually work on Tap Transcend V2 if the market demands it (which it is hinting at already). Thanks again, we look forward to releasing some new cool games very soon and getting Tap Transcend to an optimal point!
Was able to get rid of my crashes this weekend. Was out of the country, and did not have roaming on or have Wi-Fi access. The game worked fine! Reproduced my crash when I got home. It crashes on wifi and 4g/3G. Works without any problems if I enable flight mode.
sandemann - Thank you so much for realizing this and taking the time to relay the information back to us. That fact narrowed down the issue to us so much that we solved the crash fix within half an hour. We just resubmitted V 1.0.2 with this crash fix.. The app will no longer crash at startup. We also optimized the graphics a bit to run smoother on older devices. We will let you guys know as soon as V 1.0.2 goes live, hopefully soon, we requested an expedite again since it was a very critical bug fix.
This clicker has more depth than I realized at first. I originally downloaded t thinking I just clicked with no real upgrade but I was wrong. Pretty good clicker. I added it to my good clickers game thread
TA, Apple was nice to expedite this bug fix! V 1.0.2 is live on the Appstore now. If you were one of the people affected by the iOS 9 startup crash that wouldn't let you proceed from the title screen, this bug has been fixed. sandemann - Checking online/offline will always be one of the first things we check now in future bugs/crashes in all our projects. Jayg2015 - Thanks! It feels good having people realize the potential of the game we built, we hope one day it can become a known title such as some of those bigger names you have listed. We will continue to update to reach that status!
can't remove it? I was done with the ap, it was ok. I wasn't a very big fan of the "just buy the banner removal to stop it from crashing" but it worked. Now I'm really done with the ap and I can't delete it. It does not show up in iTunes when my phone is connected and when I try to delete it from the phone my whole phone locks up and eventually reboots. Do I have to pay again? Is this some kind of hostage situation? Anyone else have this issue?
Is there a limit to how many times you can restart the game? I just beat the mothership on playthrough #5, and just now when I restarted it still says 5 in the flame. I shut down and restarted the app, and no change. I know I'm not remembering wrong, either, because I took a screenshot while I was fighting the mothership, and it says 5 there.
Great game, one question. Enjoying the game however, how do you get the generation counter to increase? I'm about halfway through my second play through now but the blue flame still says 1st generation.
Hey guys, haven't checked this thread in a couple days just getting back to you now.. larrytapowski - I am confused what you mean? Is it a Game Center issue maybe you have kept the connection? I have deleted the app many times during development to switch between production and development and I have never had any issues. Also you never have to pay again for anything, our only IAPs are non-consumable thus they are retrievable when you press the lowest button in the store about resetting IAP. Duranki - you might have found a bug then since the next post by 'Fell' under you says the same thing. I will look into the code for any possible reasons why the database might have not switched this value, but I don't know yet how this could happen. My main tester is about to be on prestige 10 and when I asked him he said he has never seen that happen. I will let you know as soon as we figure out what could have happened, but nothing is sticking out to me yet. Thanks everyone for playing Tap Transcend.. Here is some new screenshot art we have been working on for App Store optimization and our new app icon which will be on the App Store this week:
Inner Hero - sorry if I sounded super angry on my last post. Even when the game wasn't running, I couldn't delete it. I noticed later that my phone also crashed and would not delete other apps. Before I could investigate much further there was an iOS update and that seemed to fix everything-ish. I did enjoy your game while I played it but I don't have enough time in the work-day to play the timed portion.
