One more question about the game. Are the gesture controls complicated? I mean are there may different ones that might make the controls confusing ? or is it pretty simple with just a few to remember ?
The main gestures are very simple: drag to move, tap for quick attacks, swipe up for jumps. As you move forward through the game you learn new gestures for new attacks, but they're all fairly simple (and you get to practice them before using them against enemies). The one that gives me a bit of trouble is the last one -- a full circle to launch a fireball. Works most of the time for me, but not always.
Knight and Neptune Studios, as much as you folks must be disappointed with the amount of sales, and I can't believe that high percentage of piracy you mentioned before, I truly hope that this unintended sale helps boost your game to where it deserves to be. In the hands of many people who enjoy casual brawlers like this. I'm sure that once people get the opportunity to play it, way more will like it than anything else. I think the fact you had to put the game on sale even when you didn't want to speaks more about the app store market, than your game. Keep your heads up, and keep making quality products! I guess all there is left to say is anyone who was debating on the purchase no longer has any reason to debate....
Chapter 2 will be free. We are planning to make Chapter 2 much longer than Chapter 1, with many more enemies and new backgrounds. As for Chapters 3 and onwards, we haven't decided yet. I really don't want to say anything about those until we see how well the game does. Hope you understand but feel free to contact me about what you think you would like.
A longer Chapter 2 for free + possible future updates as inapp purchases sounds fair to me. Its just that I was thinking about getting this one because of the roumours that it would be pretty short. Can you assume when the next chapter will probably be released?
Totally agree. Though the story content was short the survival and 100 level modes can take hours at a time. I picked the game up at release and am not sorry to support the "little guy." And as far as the price drop whiners go, I bet if you weren't on this site you wouldn't even know the price dropped - but because you ARE on this site you are privy to a lot of information including promo codes and the like. And sure if you follow the rules and leave reviews for promo codes you have to do a few minutes of work, but you got the game for free! I would expect that the average TA member (or lurker for that matter) got their share of promo codes to make up for price drops you might read about. A dev got to do what a dev got to do in this day and age. I wish you much luck Knight as I do believe its a great app. I was quite pleased to see it featured on the games front page. I do look forward to the updates and hope that sales skyrocket so that Chapter three is possible. As always though, I purchased the game at face value for now and any added content is bonus to me. Stupid question - how do high scores get pirated????
It's not the high scores that get pirated, but we have a way of tracking whether an online score submission is from a pirated copy or not. So far the ratio has been 86.6% of unique devices that submitted a score are using a pirated copy of the game. We tested it thoroughly to make sure it works correctly so we are confident in it.
I thought I would be mad when this went on sale, but I'm surprised I'm not. I just hope you guys get enough money to keep updating this and make profits at the same time.
Damn those pirates. Not the ones in your future update btw, I'm actually looking forward to those ones.
Just downloaded it. I hate when devs make a good game and this happens. I used to jailbreak and pirate stuff, but I knew if I was gonna be a dev, people would do the same to me as I did to others, so I despise jailbreaking now. Hoped this helped in some way.
Knight, I thought you can do a sale on selected countries only? Because I remember Konami (or was it Capcom?) did that too. If that's the case, then maybe it's worth checking out in which countries your game is featured and do a sale accordingly? I mean, if Tap Fu is not featured in Australia or Italy now and the sale is over by the time it's featured in those countries, then you're not really capitalizing on that. I know it can be cumbersome to track one by one and do it manually, but at least you can try it for the top 5 stores?
Played a bit more and I really like it. It has kind of an old school feel while being fresh and fun and taking advantage or the capabilities of the touch screen. A good break from match 3 games and line drawing games ....etc Great job guys Worth 3.99 and a steal at 1.99 ! ..It sucks and is sad that people pirate games and steal people's hard work.
I don't think its possible to change price for specific country. But perhaps those companies had different version of their application for each country store? In that case, they can do that.
I had been on the fence on this one, but I decided to roll the dice with the price drop to $1.99 today. I am very glad that I did. I am really enjoying this. Definitely old school. With the planned updates extending the play value, I think anyone even remotely interested in a good old fashioned "beat em up" should get this. Well worth it at its current price.
