I hope you guys at least make back your costs and then some. It's tough to predict what will have mass appeal in the AppStore. On the plus note, between the ample coverage at TA and getting featured, at least you know that visibility isn't the problem. Hopefully the price reduction will help. Putting together a casual beat 'em up was a bold gamble - I doubt that the super-cute graphics are doing much to attract hard core gamers, and despite the attractive packaging, the fighting theme puts you in uncharted territory with casual gamers. Hindsight is 20/20, but I think you might have done better if you'd stayed closer to your primary inspiration, Karateka. If you like, I'd be happy to share sales data with you for Karate Fighter (PM me).
@Knight - One buyer doesn't prove your case, but when I saw the sale, I picked it up, so I hope others do.
I definitely agree. It is a lot of fun to play this game using gestures. I do far better with gestures than with the virtual pad and buttons.
Wow, My original plan was to wait a week before purchasing this game to make sure there was no price drop (Bad memories from scenarios such as the 'Dragon Portals' price drop from 4.99 to 0.99 within hours of being released) Looks like I didn't even have to wait that long!
Glad to pay "full price" (such as it is) for such a great game. But hey, thanks for making things harder for independent developers -- I'm sure they appreciate it!
It all depends on your level of interest. There are some games that I'm just curious about, and I may be prodded to buy them by a sale. But if it's something that directly appeals to you (and that seems to be getting a good reception), why not spend a couple of extra bucks to support the developer? Of course, those of you spending allowance money may have different perspective...
no it's just funny the dev said the price was going to stay $3.99 for a long time and now a couple days later WHAM! 50% off sale
i do admit that it is a bit rough to drop the price already given a lot of people were under the impression that there wouldn't be one for a while since that's what the dev said. but business is business and you have to do what you have to do.
Tried some of this game out, its alright but the controls and the response time just dont feel right.
I think they had all the intention of leaving the price at 3.99 but the sales were just too slow as everyone is waiting for price drops now. Eventually the quality will deteriorate if all games are pushed to .99 , and we (the gamers) will lose out because it just won't be worth it for some developers to make games anymore. my .02
