Guys, we never posted any price, and certainly never implied 99 cents. We spent quite a bit of time and money on this game, so there is no way we will be doing any price drops for a long time. In fact, we are working on Chapter 2 at the moment which features Pirates, so the game will only be worth more. But don't buy it just for the promise of an update, you can always get it later as well.
I am right with ya! I have been searching that thread to prove my sanity and I can't find a shred of evidence ----- oh my heaaaadddddddd
You my friend just got yourself another sale from apparently the one who hallucinates on this site!!!!!
Story mode has 7 levels, and there are 2 arenas for Survival and 100 Rounds modes. Another level for Training as well.
Wishful thinking is contagious people. The devs, iirc, never stated anything about a launch sale price. BTW...Albie was friggin' lightspeed quick with that review. Jeez. Gotta get through some of my backcatalog (that Samurai game, for instance) but once I do I'll probably get this. I'm a sucker for beat 'em ups. Oh...and it is a beat 'em up. Not a fighting game. Unless you're British. For some odd reason the Brits seem to label beat 'em ups as fighters. Or is it the other way around (they label fighters as beat 'em ups)? Ah, who the hell knows.... Regardless, it seems good, especially from that vid, and the gesture controls is what is actually selling me on the game. If it were virtual pad and buttons only, I'd say "meh...I can do better on PSP or DS". But gesture controls are very fitting for this platform and should add a nice learning curve to the game. Ol' Spiffy likes a good learning curve. Keeps the mind and reflexes sharp.
ok, i guess i'll buy it right now! But if this game drops to 2.99 tomorrow... I probably won't do anything about it!!! lmao thanks for spending so much time on Tap Fu, this game does look beautiful.
whew, see now i feel a little more sane by this slightly chopped up quote. all kidding aside, i'm sure the quality is there and that the app is a lot of fun. the video definitely showcases some polished gameplay. plus 7 cities was the first TD purchase i made, and it's easily one of the best. more impressions wouldn't hurt though
Screw it. I'll take the plunge later tonight... if I have any money left in my iTunes. Gotta check up on that.
I've said it in the upcoming thread, and I'll say it one more time here. This game is fantastic, and a labour of love. If you enjoy fighters, building up your combos etc, you will absolutely love this game. The artwork is fantastic, the controls are excellent, and there is a great achievement list which will keep you coming back again and again, let alone the online leaderboards. For those that played 7 Cities, you'll know that Knight and Neptune Studios deliver quality products they stand behind.
Sorry, I hadn't fired it up before my rant. I've played the training and the first level. First impressions are quite good. Good looking, nice controls (both kinds), funny, and generally well put together. The big complaint will be the length. It's a legitimate complaint. It's short, and like the dev themselves say, don't buy it for the promises of updates (Minigore). It's worth it now, and will hopefully only get better.
+1 of course, my version was about 700 words longer Buy a game because you like what is there now...don't buy based on what you think will come in updates, and you'll be much happier. This loosely applies to many other things in life, but you get the picture.
heheh, pretty much. You give the full "books-worth" review, and I give the "point form" review...point form in the form of sentences but you know what I mean. Maybe that can be my thing in the future....
Worth is such a subjective thing, but I still play this. Note that I've had this for 3 weeks now, and I play this and Blades of Fury all the time.
I bought it and checked it out... After playing for about 15 minutes, I love it. The game is the perfect medium between serious fighting games and goofy fun. There are a few different modes, Survival, 100 Rounds, and Story. In Story, the plot so far is fun, and the action is great. The graphics are nice and cartoony, and give off a very nice feel. As you move through the game you learn new moves, such as the duck and roll and the spin kick. It starts out very easy but gets progressively harder, so it's a nice challenge. You can choose between two control options, swiping or virtual control sticks. The swiping is very interesting and well-implemented into the game (swipe up to jump, tap to punch/kick, swipe down to roll, etc). The joysticks are similar to many other games, giving you a stick on the left side of the screen and a punch and kick button on the right. You collect candy to bring to the Tap-Fu Master, knocking and beating up ninjas to get it. Overall the game feels like something you would play online. It has a nice complete feel and you can tell that Neptune spent a lot of time and put hard work into it. The only complaint I would have about this game is that (so far) it doesn't take much skill, it's mostly just tapping and swiping randomly to kill ninjas. It might get harder and take more skill as I get farther into the game, but for now it just seems like button mashing. I haven't tried out Survival Mode or 100 Rounds yet, but the story mode alone is worth the $4 price, in my opinion. It's a great game, so go get it.
