Jaxon58, I'm beyond stoked that y'all released this on the ipad, got a buncha friends who like games like this, but we all hate the long setup time lol. Picked up the base game and the expansion up as soon as it came out. Two questions: I'm unfamiliar with the base game, and most of the specific changes the expansion rules add, so I don't know how the physical game handles multiple expansions. 1. Can the game be played with more than one expansion active at a time? Ie: reaper + blood moon + dungeon + frostmarch? I noticed that as soon as I enable the reaper expansion, the base game icon goes red (which I understand why, coding wise). I'd love to pick up all the upcoming expansions, but may not do so if they can't be played together at once (for instance, don't care about the sacred pool adventure, but the dread and chivalric knights have interesting mechanics). I might pick and choose if that's the case (which would be unfortunate since they all add chars and adventure cards). If they can't be played together, is it cause of the actual game rules, which would clash or be contradictory, or is it a coding issue? I'm hoping this long question'll have a short answer in the affirmative, but just in case. 2. If the expansions are mutually exclusive, any plans to release chars separately as IAP without the expansion content? Great work y'all, looking forward to play with some friends, despite the fact that the AI is very competently coded, and generally fun to play against. Best of luck to y'all, hope it's a successful venture, so you can keep putting out mobile expansions. I'm a PC player primarily, but it's hard to cram 4 nerds around one screen and have tnem get along lol.
Yes! I have both versions ... the PC version had a weak AI in the beginning but they made it better and better in every update and now it is on a good level. Nevertheless I wish, i had different AI Level ... for a pure beginner it could be frustrating to play against a well playing AI.
Hi, 1. You can play all of the expansions together and switch on/off whichever ones you want. The icon you saw go red is the 'Classic Rules' button. If this is on (green), all players will be random characters and will return as a random character if they're killed. If you switch it off (red), all players can choose which character they would like and they will return as that character when killed. This isn't possible with the board game simply because there is only 1 character card for each character, but we thought it was a nice option for the digital version. Plus, it stops the 'Troll is overpowered' argument if everyone can play as the Troll! Also, when Classic Rules is off, you can add Runestone cards to the characters, which you cannot use in Classic Rule mode. If you have Classic Rules ON and then you choose a character, this will automatically switch Classic Rules OFF which might be what happened to you. 2. No plans for that. Some of the expansion characters require the content from the expansions they are included in. Hope this helps and thanks for the kind words. Carl
Carl, You're quite welcome, thanks for the good news. Thanks for clearing up the classic rules thing, I was under the assumption that something else was going on, which is what prompted my first question. The second one is irrelevant since the expansions aren't mutually exclusive though, so y'all keep putting them out and I'll keep buying them lol. I also did not know that the expansion chars need expansion content, that' seven more awesome, game mechanics-wise. This is going to be completely shameless and unsolicited sugestioneering lol, but I'm particularly looking for award to the werewolf expansion, I wanna say the blood moon one. Either way, fantastic work, and best of luck! Calin PS: I suppose I have an ancillary question, what are the goals and the xp system all about? I don't think they were in the PC version, is it just a multiplayer type of achievement system?
We will be adding Blood Moon eventually, so then there'll be a Grim Reaper and a Werewolf roaming the board! As you play the game, you earn XP for achieving various goals such as taking revenge on a player who beat you or having the highest Strength at the end. Each time you complete one of these goals, you fill up an XP bar and when it's full you get a big XP bonus. This system was included in the PC version. Carl
So just a clarification regarding the house rules. It appears that selecting them from the main options menu does nothing, and you have to select them when setting up a specific game. Am I correct? I found that out the hard way after I thought I was playing with the race to the crown house rule, and the AI Troll made it there and the game didn't end. And if that is the case, why are they even there in the main options menu? I think they should be removed from there to prevent confusion.
Carl, I found a fairly substantial bug, not sure if just mine or prevalent: I purchased the courtesan but unlocked the genie. Every other purchased char unlocked properly, but those two are switched. Is there any way to fix this on my account without a refund? I'm having trouble posting attachments, pm me an e-mail or something, and I'll send y'all the pics of my situation. Thanks, Calin
This is a bug, so we'll fix it soon. What happened was you used to be able to select your house rules from the main options and it would remember them when you went into a game. This caused a problem whereby if you were invited into a game, it would remember both players' house rules and get confused. We fixed that a couple of weeks ago by resetting all house rules when you're on the game creation screen, but this has caused the problem you've experienced. We shall fix it soon!
Awesome! One more thing. Is there any way you can make the AI a little more aggresive in trying to win? I don't think there is any good reason for an AI player to still be circling the inner region when they have a 13 strength and I am in there too with a 12 strength and starting to go for it. At least at that point, I really think they should drop whatever else they are doing and try to get to the crown, assuming they have a Talisman, of course.
We're always working on the AI and improving it. Some improvements were made after we submitted this version to Apple, so there will be an update soon with better AI.
So, about the auto zoom, when is it supposed to work, cause either it's broken or I'm not doing something right. I have it set to "on", and the game doesn't zoom in when the turns change, and if it zooms out, it stays like that.
So guys awesome game never played it before, either card or pc but absolutley love, that is till i want to play multiplayer, why oh why would they use gamecentre so unless you have friends with the game and organise to meet at a certian time to play multiplayer doesnt work, i would assume this game is a singleplayer game and playing against ai s ina game like this can get boring, and for those of you who insist on playing multiplayer, enjoy the finding matches screen, coz thats all youll be seeing
Downloaded. Played a four player game with bots ans managed to kill off one of the players. I think I played for more than an hour but the game showed no sign of ending even though two of the players had Talismans. This game needs a variety of AI to spice things up. Right now, it seems like the AI players are just randomly hoping around the board with no real strategy. Add in other types of AI personalities to make it more fun, like a grudge AI that will go after the last player who harmed it, or an attack weakest player AI... The good thing is that this really reminds me of playing the boardgame with friends who did not know what they were doing. The bad thing is that this really reminds me of playing the boardgame with friends who did not know what they were doing and the game drags so we multitask and play videogames by the side until eventually we give up on the game...
