Same here. Probably still needs a few more hours to fully populate in all of the servers. Can others purchase the Illusionist yet? I'm seeing it as available but hitting purchase doesn't seem to do anything (no typical asking of password or purchase confirmation).
I can purchase Illusionist but not City expansion yet. It's all a little odd. You're probably right with your hunch, the only other option is they're going to expediate another update asap as they've forgotten to add something.
Anyone playing this solo, is it a good single player game? Also, anyone playing this on the Mini, if so, how is the font size?
I'm also not able to download the new expansion, and every time one comes out it resets the purchase options, I have everything but it still gives me the option to hit purchase. I assume it'll be smoothed out soon, I have the option to use 6 chars after I updated. Gonna reinstall the game, see if it makes a diff. Either way, thanks for continuing to develop the game guys. Didn't help, but the restore purchases button did restore everything, while the city's still greyed out. No worries for me though, just stoked to play it, I'm sure y'all will fix it soon.
I normally play it solo, and to be honest, I purchased every expansion and new char that got released, so the actual cost wasn't 50 bucks up front lol, but I love it. The AI could be a bit better, and whatever complaints you hear about it are quasi legit, but I really enjoy playing it in single player. You usually won't lose to the AI unless you have seriously bad luck, and some chars are better than others, but generally, I have a bunch of fun, even if I know winning's only a matter of time lol.
I think I play it mainly solo since, as a friend and I determined a expansion or 2 back playing on Steam, with the 2 of us and 2 AI players taking our turns as quick as possible and no breaks (as MP has timers you can't disable even in friendly games), it took us over 4 hours to finish a game! So while, sadly, the AI doesn't put up a great fight (although to the devs' credit, it gets incrementally smarter with each expansion), playing solo is probably your best bet. The game auto-saves with each turn so it is very easy to play an hour or two, play another 15 minutes the next day, and then finish off a week later.
I play it exclusively solo, and it's definitely one of my favorite games for iOS. You have to get into the spirit of it -- play it as a RPG instead of a board game, play as an adventurer in a fantasy world instead of as a simple race to the finish. I play it on iPhone almost exclusively, Yeah, I'd prefer it to be bigger, but mostly to take in the art. I've had no difficulty in playing it, at all, due to size. It's just a wondeful game. AND it's on sale at the moment!
I can also confirm that as of Monday morning, 11/2, I bought it without an update, and can start the game with city chars and the new board, no problems. Jester and goblin shaman still not purchaseable, which on the scale of world problems in general, is pretty low lol.
Those 2 aren't even available on Steam. The dev said something to the effect of wanting to give a little breathing room between the release of City and those 2 new characters.
I didn't know that, good lookin', most of the iOS releases for this game usually trailed the steam ones by a bit. I don't blame them for wanting some rest, I'm sure they work their asses off to put out one of these every two months or so.
I can restore purchases but they won't "stick" (I exit the game and come back and have to restore purchases again). City expansion is available but when I hit "purchase" nothing happens. Running iOS 8.4.1. EDIT: Rebooted my iPad and everything worked fine!
Did you force quit the game and restart? I know it needs a restart at the very least, but I think I always end the process before starting it back up.
At the end of the day I would really like it if they had them just included in the app so we don't have to worry about downloading them. Maybe the devs could look into the new App Thinning to keep the app size small while still including the HD graphics.
To get the higher detail graphics, go to the advanced settings and choose 'Check for updates', then close the game and run it again. It will ask if you want to download the extra data, so say Yes to that. When it's finished, close the game and run it again.
This doesn't works for me and after the last iOS update which brought me the Game Center bug I cannot even download any new updates. As Tango said I would prefer all the resolutions included on the initial app.
I'm not having problems with the low res gfx, the check for updates method works as intended. I don't remember if the map tiles are always supposed to be high res though, or just when light a specific tile, which is the case right now. I play the game in spurts, usually when a new expansion comes out, so I can never remember all the details that get changed lol, I can say that I almost always have to do a clean install because of either a high res gfx pack issue, or because the new expansion does t get properly recognized by the main app. No complaints here though lol, just user feedback. iPad 3, latest OS as of the post date.
