I mean, is it more of a traditional flight sim or is it an almost arcadey experience that anyone can pick up and play it? It's frickin' gorgeous!!! Mike.Jujubee Well-Known Member Feb 23, 2012 337 4 18 #3 Mike.Jujubee, Jun 9, 2016 We tried to bring both worlds together so you can control the flaps, ailerons, rudders, engines and stuff like that and you can also very easily program the autopilot (you just tap on the specific parameter, for example altitude, and you can set it with a slider). There are several control schemes to choose from. Nevertheless the game is very easy to play so even people who never had the chance to play flight simulation games shouldn't have any problem when they pick this one up. As for the experience I would say some missions can be a bit arcadey (for example air races, similar to Red Bull Air Races), but it all depends on the mission. After you progress you also unlock the world map where you can run your own airline, send your planes to popular destinations, etc. and you can enter any of these planes when they get close to the airport to land manually or to take off. So it's a bit like 2 games in 1 . As for IAP's - the game is a Premium title so there's no need to bother unless you want to get more Air Miles (which are useful in the manager mode) or want to unlock planes faster, but mainly we plan to release a few DLCs in the future with new missions and planes. Cheers! metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #4 metalcasket, Jun 9, 2016 I feel terrible for asking you to go through the trouble of typing all of that up, when it was so easy for you to just go "Here, watch our dev diaries". Major, major respect. This is a crazy ambitious project and I suspect it will do very well. Just before buying, you know that space is always an issue, so I just wanted to make sure...the app clocks in at just over a gig installed, right? Again, thanks for the above explanation. It clarified a ton of stuff and I'm sure along with the dev diaries, any and everyone in this thread will be all set. Oh and paid DLC that's not consumable? *thumbs up* Mike.Jujubee Well-Known Member Feb 23, 2012 337 4 18 #5 Mike.Jujubee, Jun 9, 2016 No problem at all - it's our pleasure to share some info about the game and answer questions . Yup, the game takes just above one gig - 1,1 GB to be exact . And yes, the DLCs won't be consumable and imo will be pretty exciting but it's too early to share what these will include exactly . Good idea with dev diaries - will add them to the first post . Cheers! metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,065 1,342 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #6 metalcasket, Jun 9, 2016 Fantastic. You've got yourself a sale, kind sir. Bought and downloading! Sorry folks, if you're waiting for impressions, sadly this bad boy's gonna take 4 hours to finish. Stronsay Well-Known Member Aug 6, 2015 987 230 43 #8 Stronsay, Jun 9, 2016 Pleasantly surprised this works on iPad 4, as nothing much else with graphics does. A remarkable achievement to get all the detail and handling working at a respectable frame rate. Landed on runway at second attempt. Regarding camera views. For realism I prefer virtual cockpit, and the other views are great. It does take a while to cycle back though. It would be helpful to have a button that switches straight back to the cockpit view. (if there is one I haven't found it). Mike.Jujubee Well-Known Member Feb 23, 2012 337 4 18 #9 Mike.Jujubee, Jun 9, 2016 Last edited: Jun 9, 2016 Thanks for sharing your opinion . Actually there is a magic button to get back directly to the cockpit . Just tap on the camera button and hold it for ~2 seconds. Hope this helps . Oh, and if you want to center the view just double tap the center of the screen. Cheers! This one is go for me and can't wait to play it. My two fav flight Sims on mobile so far are infinite flight and space simulator latter being my all time fav and it's so freaking awesome while also being super technical. This one is diff than those two but I think it's gonna be fun! Stronsay Well-Known Member Aug 6, 2015 987 230 43 #11 Stronsay, Jun 9, 2016 Thanks, that's excellent. Clearly a lot of thought has gone into the design. Sorry to report that light aircraft mission 5, Car Search, keeps causing the app to crash to desktop shortly after leaving runway. Have tried 5 or 6 times with same result (flying 172 on iPad 4 ios 9.3.2.) All other missions I've tried so far have worked fine, that's up to Mission 6, Gone with the Wind; a real blast that one. Certainly teaches use of the rudder in a strong crosswind Mike.Jujubee Well-Known Member Feb 23, 2012 337 4 18 #12 Mike.Jujubee, Jun 9, 2016 Thanks for reporting this. I just completed successfully this mission on my device so I guess it is a memory issue. I'm sending this over to our team, so we will try to solve it asap. Meanwhile you can try to close all apps at the background and restart your device to free up some memory - maybe this will temporarily solve your issue. Anyway glad you're enjoying the game . The one with the wind is indeed a bit tricky and challenging - one of my personal favorites . Stronsay Well-Known Member Aug 6, 2015 987 230 43 #13 Stronsay, Jun 9, 2016 Thanks again for your prompt and helpful reply. Yes, it was a memory issue. After freeing up an extra 3 GB and resetting, mission 5 now running well. touchy85 Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2015 1,616 1 38 #14 touchy85, Jun 9, 2016 Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel I'm definitely having fun. Flying is easy to pick, kind of similar to the flying in GTA San Andreas, but with a bit more depth with managing your flaps, tail and landing gear. The career mode is awesome and the missions are well done. People how are not a big fan of consumable IAPS might want to know, there's a possibility to buy extra cash to spend on plains. These IAPS go up to $29,99. If they're really necessary, I don't know I'm way too early in the game. The big planes are expensive, but the later mission rewards will be high as well probably. Mike.Jujubee Well-Known Member Feb 23, 2012 337 4 18 #17 Mike.Jujubee, Jun 11, 2016 The game features several control schemes - did you try them all? One of them might suit you. Anyway make sure to try other control schemes - hopefully you will find one of them more intuitive . darrelldiaz Member Jul 2, 2010 6 0 0 #18 darrelldiaz, Jun 12, 2016 How do you calibrate the accelerometer? C172 seems overly sensitive to pitch inputs at all throttle settings. Lovely graphics and presentation. Also own, X-Plane, Infinite Flight, Aerosoft 2 & Flight Unlimited 2K16 and am currently working on my private pilot license. Also, sorely missing a vertical speed indicator. Great effort so far! Looking forward to updates! Also please consider porting to Windows 10. Would love to play on my Lumia 950 via Continuum while traveling. Mike.Jujubee Well-Known Member Feb 23, 2012 337 4 18 #19 Mike.Jujubee, Jun 12, 2016 Hi! Great you enjoy the game . You can change the sensitivity of the accelerometer in your game settings. Currently the accelerometer recalibrates when you start the game so I would suggest to close the game and launch it again while holding your phone in your preferable position, but nevertheless we will look into it and try to improve it in the next update . As for Windows - sadly right now there are no such plans - but never say never . Cheers! Stronsay Well-Known Member Aug 6, 2015 987 230 43 #20 Stronsay, Jun 12, 2016 Still enjoying this app, though I struggle with the virtual joystick, especially the fact that it self-centres so quickly, meaning a finger has to be held on screen permanently during turns. If I need to adjust throttle and rudder then I run out of hands. In some real aircraft the stick will remain pretty much where it is if let go. So, please consider an option to slow down or deactivate self-centring. I think this may make using the virtual stick easier. Though I've never much liked using the accelerometer, I have to say I find this control method best, enabling co-ordinated turns with the rudder, whilst simultaneously increasing throttle to maintain altitude. This aspect of aircraft handling has been well implemented. I have just unlocked the world map, so I'll go and see what that has to offer. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
