Well I play on iPad and find the camera speed too fast. Ha well I can manage it and there's no bug, but it's unpleasant. EDIT: Perhaps it's less pleasant on iPad1 than iPad2, I'm using iPad1. EDIT2: But yes this should be just an option, the best would be a slider to adjust camera speed. But if not possible, just a check option to enable slower camera control would be good anyway.
@qordobo: I reached the end of the campaign last night- i didn't have too much trouble with ammo conservation, but there were one or two times i had to resort to punching zombies in desperation. Overall, i think the difficulty was pitched as 'easy-normal'. Perhaps in a future update, we'll see harder modes with extremely tight rationing of ammo, so having to make every shot count...
Thanks, not that objectively it say me much about my own play but it's good to know that it doesn't feel overall very difficult. So even if I haven't made a good start I'll probably be able keep on and won't lack of ammo if I put some care.
By looking closer the camera it's quite possible the disagreement for me is coming not from the speed but from the slippery effect. Ie when I stop move the camera it continues move a bit.
questions hey,how long is the campaign and is there any replay value? i just like to know that i'm getting a good deal for 5 bucks. i usually only spend a dollar or 2 on games and dont buy games that dont have a lite version.
And version 1.0.1 was just released 5 seconds ago. As detailed earlier this one fixes 2 small annoying issues. - support for iOS 3.2+ - suspend now works as you want it to. Going back to the game starts right where you left it. Also fixes the black screen on continue issue And now onto creating new content and the next update! Thanks for your continued support. Please help us by giving the game a review here and on iTunes. Thanks! /Thomas
According to the dev, it's about 7 hours. Not sure about the replay value to you, but as you can see above, there's more content being developed. The game is definitely worth the money, as far as I am concerned.
Yeah - the campaign is around 7-8 hours depending on how many times you die and how fast you move ahead. Fastest I have managed it is just above 6 hours knowing exactly the optimal way through the game without dying once. Replay value - hard to say. Depends on what kind of consumer/gamer you are. Do you watch your favorite movie 2-3-4 times even if you know whats going to happen? Are you the explorer type who opens every door there is? Do you like to replay a game with different weapons combos to experiment? If so, then you will maybe play 3-4-5 times through the game. Thats a lot of entertainment hours for $5. We very specifically decided in the early design phases to do a story driven campaign. Many games skip the story and throw you into endless grind for no obvious reasons. This game is supported by the classic cheesy zombie story with hand drawn comic panels etc. We really tried to put value in it for the buck. Only place I think we cut a corner was to not do voice overs for the panels. Not sure the game really suffered on that or not. So yeah - I think its worth $5. But I'm veeeeeery biased :-D /Thomas
I, however, am OBSESSED with randomness and replayability! You guys scored high with me in this regard with Monsterball that had a LOT of randomized aspects and, as a strategy boardgame, no real story. I'd love to see you guys take the engine you've made here and make some sort of tactical endless/survival game! Perhaps you could have a few of the game's maps (especially ones with entry/exit points) selectable in a Gauntlet Mode where the team will receive a score based on how long they can hold out against waves of randomly spawned baddies. These baddies could even drop supplies so as to allow the player to keep the party going. I personally love the idea of limited supplies so as to possibly force the player away from just using their favorite shotgun and having to knife baddies for a bit until they find more shotgun ammo.
A MONSTER BALL CUSTOMER!!! /me tips the hat But yes - we have been given some thoughts on what kind of game modes (and other games) we could make with this tech we got. I cant say too much - as that will sound like promises to some. But we do have ideas to what could be done in a more random setting. If it will make it into this game or one of the next - way too early to say. But your feedback is noted and thanks for support us across games! I always loved MB myself. Never really figured out why people didnt buy it more than they did. But that might be an idea for a different thread. But feel free to shoot me an email with what you liked/didnt like on MB. /Thomas
I also really liked Monster Ball. I didn't buy it, I think I got it when it was free or maybe got a promo code, but I think the problem was lack of a video and/or publicity. I know I looked at it but never could decide to actually buy it. But, since I now know that you guys were the ones behind that little piece of genius, I will for sure be buying this game as well. Can't wait to start blasting zombies turn based style
This is good news! Ive just been struggling against a very silly SPOILER who did SPOILER and after a death where I almost got the SPOILER down, ive run into the black screen. D'OH! I came on TA to check and here you are with an update already. Hope it works! What the devil am i going to play in the meantime!? I do really like this game. I really regret paying the £4.99 to unlock the full version of hunters, because this game was right around the corner and so much more enoyable! EDIT: And in the short time since writing that post, the update is out! But hasnt fixed the black screen on continue I've got stuck with
The update probably doesn't fix a black screen that "already happened" so to speak. (it shouldn't happen again though, hopefully. eehm ) Just open the campaign menu, select "campaign 1" and load a checkpoint before the issue happened.
Just some questions... Overall, the feedback from gamers here in this thread have been very positive. I'll be eyeing this until I finally end up buying it. I always thought there was a lack of tactical grid based games for the iOS. My personal favorites from before have been FF Tactics and Front Mission 3. In line with that, I just have few questions. Does this game have special skills based on the characters or weapons used? It doesn't seem to be noted in the App Description. Is there also a skill or special move where two or more characters would fire simultaneously? Simply put, aside from basically firing your gun and throwing grenades, what else can you do?
Few points: Beside the main weapon used, each soldier can use grenades, but their supply is limited and you need find more as you explore. Also each soldier can use a health pack, but their supply is limited and you need find more as you explore. You can cover an area for firing during next enemy turn. You can open a container or a door I think it costs 1 action point. A special type of container are your teamates, you also open them to exchange equipements, not sure how much action points it uses. The equipment is 2 wearing items providing various bonus like boot adding one action point and so on, the health packs, the door key equipped, the grenades, and possibly the weapon used, but for this last point not sure it's useful to exchange weapons during a fight but at least you can out of a combat. Firing with your gun isn't that basic because most weapons have a spread angle plus a range. And this spread range worth for enemies so you could hit multiple enemies. And the game implements friendly fire so a teamate can be hurt if he is in spread area of a weapon attack. Only some weapon are just a simple target aiming, I remember pistol, sniping gun, a rifle, and close range weapons. Even the shotgun have a spread angle and can involves friendly fire. With all weapons you can take a position and cover an area during next enemy turn. The game shows clearly the chance to hit and it depends of the distance, the weapon used and the soldier skill, so you need manage this point. You have the classical action points and you can mix moving and attacking, and you can mix actions of each soldiers, ie start with one then do some action with another and come back do more actions with first one. That isn't so basic because you need manage friendly fire and chance to hit. Most weapons use ammo and reload costs one action point, but the game allows reload only when ammo is at zero. One attack uses a number of action points that depends of the weapon used. I think I summarize almost all possibilities of actions but you can add to that: There's 8 skills for each soldier and as you gain more experience you gain more skill points to use. When you change level you can spend those skill points, and it's your choice to choose on which soldiers and what skills, but for a soldier you can increase a skill only of one point during a change level, to increase it more you need wait next level change. The eight skills are for each point spend in the skill, increase health level, one more action point, increased chance for critical, increased chance for dodging, and increasing chance to hit for light weapons, for heavy weapons, for grenades, for close range weapons. Each soldier has two special wearing slots allowing equip different items you find during exploration, they bring various bonus like better fire precision in a category of weapon, one more action point, more health, and so on. So you have to choose the best use for each soldier. I doubt I have seen all type of weapons so it's the only point I don't detail, it's also because I'm not sure to remember their names.
@Qordobo Wow, thanks man. That was a very comprehensive take on the gameplay involved. I now have a better idea of what to expect.
Alright, bought it and having fun with it. Only on 2nd level where I'm supposed to protect a room. 1st question, do I just keep defending until i get run over? 2nd, I am lost on how I spend my skill points. I have 3, and I have double clicked skill I want - nothing. So I clicked it and hit continue - nothing. What am I doing wrong? Its funny how much I enjoy these games yet tend to be lost 95% of the time.
So far every level I have played, there has been an end to the spawning zombies, ie no endless spawns you have to work your way through and try and escape (yet.) You can only spend your skill points between levels, not during.
