Hello Everyone, I'll confess I've been lurking around these boards on and off for some time now, but I've never really seen anyone ask this (not that I've scoured every post or anything). I'm a private game designer specializing in table top, fantasy themed games. To date I've designed two collectible card games, a one on one strategy game using unique game elements, and an RPG. My latest project has been another table-top game that is a completely unique combination of a typical trading card game, a role playing game and some elements of more traditional board games. The TCG end of it keeps the customizability of most TCGs but strives to eliminate the heavy costs associated with the collectibility aspects of such games. The game is well under way in development as a tabletop game, however, lately I've been thinking that with the way the markets are trending and the massive popularity of the iPhone as a gaming platform, perhaps this game would be ideally suited to the iPhone. The problem is, I have limited programming experience and don't really have the financial resources to go out and hire a team of developers to get the game built. That's where this post comes in. I'm basically looking for advice. How would I go about finding developers willing to work for a significant piece of any profits the game makes or get the game concept in front of a development studio willing to work with me to develop what I believe is a truly unique opportunity to create something fresh, and new, and never before seen in fantasy gaming? From discussions I've had with the few people I have discussed and and worked on the game with, the overwhelming majority believe this game concept could be revolutionary, creating a new category of game, much like Magic: The Gathering did when it introduced the world to the concept of a collectible or trading card game. I'm genuinely looking for advice here, so if you have anything helpful to offer, I'd really appreciate the input. Thanks! Sincerely, Q
