Ha! What does that say about us? Yea, mostly niche, indie games, some super-hard puzzle games, so not really mainstream. Bad Piggies is an exception, since it really does depart from the Angry Birds in the creativity direction so much, so even if it is mainstream (like it's a bad thing? no, just saying ) it's cool! Yea, you should check out Mikey Shorts. If you're into the super-hard genre, then also Super Hexagon, at least take a look at the video. Punch Quest would be the third one of the non-super-niche.
Man, that was harder than I thought! Basically narrowed it down to 10, cutting out some fantastic games that I absolutely love in favor of some newer releases that have consumed every free second I've had over the last week. Been a long time since an iOS game has done that, so yeah...they've earned a place on my list. Of course I'll be editing this as the weeks go by, but for now: Devil's Attorney Dream of Pixels Ghost Trick Incoboto/Incoboto Mini Mikey Shorts Polara Rage of the Gladiator Rayman Jungle Run Revenge of the Rob-O-Bot Walking Dead: The Game
More so I don't forget than anything. Autumn Dynasty Bastion Revenge of the Rob-O-Bot Have a few others but will have a think.
In love with some of your list: Ghost Trick (not an iOS original, but still one of the best gaming experiences in my life) Incoboto / Incoboto Mini (unique indie game masterpiece) Polara (incredibly simple, but incredibly good) Revenge of the Rob-O-Bot (hands down, best iOS pinball table) But boy, so sad to see that my big big big fav for game of the year doesn't get that much attention, at least so far: Waking Mars is IMHO this year's Sword and Sworcery, a totally unique experience with an amazing production. I can't praise this gem enough. An outstanding piece of work. Adding a very personal gem: 10000000 (although finished long ago, it won't leave my device, ever) Game I played the most this year: Pinball Arcade (the guys at Farsight are doing an amazing job by preserving a beloved part of culture) And give Jeff Minter an extra award for awesomeness! All his games are masterpieces as well. He is the king of gameplay!
Haha, thanks. Yeah, it's really, really hard to narrow these lists to just 10 games and surprisingly I completely forgot Ghost Trick wasn't an iOS exclusive. I had initially gotten rid of SoulCalibur from my list for that reason, but yeah...I guess Ghost Trick is just TOO good to deny a spot on anyone's list. The only reason Waking Mars isn't on my list is because I initially just had to delete it for space, and I wanted to keep this exclusive to things I currently have on my device. That said, it isn't just top 10 material...it's top 3, IMO. 1000000 is one of those games just that earns a permanent spot on your device, but unfortunately for me I just haven't given it the attention it deserves. It's not going anywhere though. Oh, and of course...I've got every single Minter game on my phone. Honestly, the biggest surprise for me on my own list is Rage of the Gladiator. It's just simple, quirky, fun and challenging. Full of everything I (this is my opinion mind you) found to be missing in the Infinity Blades and Dark Meadow, etc. etc. etc.
No one should be told to check it out. The game's the second coming of Tetris and if it isn't already a permanent part of your iOS collection, you should be burned and died.
Damn... this is hard. Right now, I've cut it down to 22 games (it was originally 34) - oh to be rating favorites... always a challenge. =oP
Thanks, guys! See, I don't need to tell people to check out Dream of Pixels, when I can just wait and let you do it for us. And we thank you for it and I hope you've all seen our thank you post, that goes out to all of you, in our main thread. Cheers!
Haha, you're more than welcome, and of course I've seen the thank you post. Couldn't take my eyes off all that fuzziness! You know what? I'm gonna do something crazy. Swordigo feels like it came out eons ago and while I do consider it an iOS must-have, I haven't touched it in months (since I initially played it non-stop over a couple of days). On the other hand, I've not put down Dream of Pixels since getting it and I don't see that stopping anytime soon, much like with Revenge of the Rob-O-Bot (and to almost the same extent; Rage of the Gladiator). What am I getting at? Off you go Swordigo...Dream of Pixels is taking your place. Updated list above.
Ok, this just made me take our thanking to the next level, hope we can reach it. But, campaigning in the wrong thread aside I also am updating our list now to narrow our picks to 10.
Right! Thanks! I only got it a few months ago, that's why maybe.. I did cross off some of those 2011 games already for not being released in 2012! Late to the party, I guess, with some. On the other hand, hoping (for our games) that that happens a lot.
Gosh, this is getting harder with some new additions, keeping track of my favorites now that will obviously have to be narrowed down even more (already a bunch that I'd also liked to have included): Incoboto Mini Punch Quest Asphalt 7 Gene Effect Blood Roofs (may be the most polarizing game on my list, but I think it's awesome) Polara Raymond Jungle Run Swordigo Orc: Vengeance Kingdom Rush Fantasy Chronicle Project 83113 Autumn Dynasty Nihilumbra Mini Dash (even though at the rate I'm going I'll never finish this game...damn, it's hard...but I love it) Mutant Mudds Dream of Pixels Haven't played it enough to judge just yet, but Eufloria is also looking like a contender.
Here's my list so far, subject to change though, but as it is, it's like 16 games I think. Punch Quest Polara Kingdom Rush Nihilumbra Swordigo Apocalypse Max Mikey Shorts 10000000 Blood Roofs Super Crate Box League of Evil 2 N.Y.Zombies 2 Meganoid 2 Little Acorns Fancy Pants Adventures Max Payne Mobile
K... right now... here's my list; Fantasy Chronicle Dark Gate Hunters 2 Mutant Storm Waking Mars Incoboto Eufloria Gene Effect Bug Princess 2 BL Mikey Shorts Dariusburst Plague Inc. Bastion Twang The Fox Autumn Dynasty ... and I'm thinking there'll be a couple more that I'll want to add to this list as the releases in December look pretty damn great, especially Raiden Legacy. Such a great year for iOS gaming.
