A reminder: devs cannot vote in the poll, not under their regular accounts or any alternate accounts.
Don't worry about it, you can't be blamed after the fact if the rules about devs asking for votes within the TA community weren't clarified beforehand. I myself am just trying to follow in the spirit of what ImNoSuperman and Triggywiggy did before.

I'll let the votes stand for this week. Whatever we decide as far as this issue will go towards the next poll. :)

Wow, first time hits more than 100 votes. Thanks to twitter and small fight.

I think what the dev do with the twitter is absolutely fine since smaller games doesn't have the Appstore marketing effect and it also mean that they care for this small poll, as long as they don't vote for their own game. Something that against the rule is new accounts that come only to vote. It maybe looks odd since the poll changes within hours rapidly but in my opinion it's legit.

Last week the votes for Crazy Escape changes drastically when there's a promotion for buy Crazy Escape get another game for free. Few weeks back, the votes for The Train Episode 2 changes rapidly because the dev asks kindly in its forum thread to vote if the member likes it. I think that's a good gesture and are actually helping the poll to grow to a bigger member's amount. Isn't it better if the votes are bigger?

With the previous fight on MC3 vs Zombieville 2, I think this poll is actually makes a significant progress because it means that people cares for this small poll. And actually the fight is increasing votes. It's true that Gameloft might not gonna advertise to vote on this poll, but hey, with over 1000 replies on its thread, why can't someone asks their friends (or enemies) on the thread to vote. This is a fun poll and more people voting is actually more appreciated. Well, now I will advertise each nominated games on its forum thread to make it fairer. Let's see the impact. :)

Alright I bit on Zombieville 2 and despite my inability to play MC3 to compare, I still gotta vote for Z2. Having a blast.

As for the Ninja Pong ordeal, I don't necessarily think it's cool to advertise outside of TA to get people to vote here. But things are getting taken a bit too seriously. Yes, it's a poll on TA. But even with 100+ votes, there's been 9,046 active users on the forums in the past 30 days, do we really think this is a highly accurate poll of TA members? Probably just the very most active ones who are voting. Not that that's a bad thing, but seriously, it's just a fun little poll.

If we really do want to get more participation, I don't know how TA would feel about putting the poll on the front page so more members would vote. I have a feeling the vast majority of people on TA don't even know it exists.

Probably the best idea so far! Arta should go and make a post on each of the nominated game's threads when the poll opens and then one last one before it closes to make fans aware that the poll exists or that the game is in the running for nomination.

At least if Arta handles it then that will make it even across the board and eliminate - well that developer announced it but that one didn't - controversies...etc.

As for passion? It is great to be passionate but not when it comes to name calling and disrespect. That is when it becomes too much work for several moderators to have to come in and edit and delete posts to maintain a nice peaceful environment.

Yup, this is supposed to be a fun poll, and the more people get involved the better. All we want is to allow the TA members who care enough about voting in a poll to do so, and not have anyone else ruin the fun. We all hate the spammers that ruin the regular forums, and so we'd hate to for them to donthe same for this.

At the same time, this isn't some statistically accurate representation of the community. It can never be, there aren't enough voters and the voters are a subset of those who browse and engage in General Discussion that are willing to vote every week - there are posters in the upcoming and released forums that will never even glance here. On top of that, with the exception of the mods who try and keep things in order, none of this is that official to begin with. I'm just a regular poster like everyone else. And finally nobody buys ALL the games and plays them in a week's time to judge them fairly anyway.

So when we decide on who's allowed to vote, we should think about the spirit of the poll. The reason we ask devs not to vote when their game is in the running is because they are biased from the getgo - they are going to vote for themselves, plus we really want feedback from the people who actually buy the game. We ask that people outside of TA don't vote because it's supposed to be a TA poll. We don't accept multiple votes from dummy accounts because that skewed the votes towards a single person's opinion. We don't entertain spammers and viral marketers who sign up that day to vote because they suck. Make sense?

A dev getting his fanbase out to vote? I can't see how that goes against the spirit of the community. This forum has some of the strongest creator-user relations I've ever seen on the Internet. It seems odd to have developers come here of their own free time, gain a loyal enthusiastic following due to positive game feedback and open dialogue, and then ask that developer not to call upon his fans to vote in a community poll. The enthusiasm that drives those relations is the same that makes people take the time to even vote in this. Does anyone here have a good reason why they should be punished for that? Cause I don't. Yes it's going to result in more votes from more enthusiast fans than others, but that was going to happen anyway. Early Bird has over 4 million downloads, and I'm sure quite a few people here bought it, but that isn't reflected in the thread size compared to others. And those are the people who vote.

So we'll try and let everyone know about the poll in the respective threads (I'd appreciate all the help I can get from everyone in that front cause that's a lot of work to do in my spare time). That said, I don't see anything wrong with devs getting their fans to vote in a TA popularity contest, cause they all have an equal opportunity to do so.

All we want is for the TA poll to reflect those TA members who voted in it, no more no less.

Doing that now starting with Race of Champions. Gonna be a lot of work, so hopefully it will catch on and TA members will alert the thread of the poll as well.
