I voted for Zombieville 2 but feel bad for Peak Gold. That actually looks like a pretty cool game and I have it wishlisted, but I think ZS2 is a clear winner this week.
IMO, I dont find Zombieville 2 nearly as fun as MC3... Its a good game and all, but I find myself playing MC3 way more than Zombieville 2.
Please see the following which could impact the outcome of this week's poll: A post by the developer in the Ninja Pong thread. I thought there was supposed to be no solicitation. Lots of people after that post said they will come vote. So I call foul and Ninja Pong should be disqualified.
Yeah, and also, @Doomfan (sorry man) but he told people on Twitter that they should vote for Ninja Pong on this thread...
The way I see it with they ask people FROM THIS SITE to vote for something on this site if they like it, I'm fine with it. Otherwise then yeah, I could see this becoming a problem... Edit: Looked through the voters and noticed only 2 were non-posties (already banned, it seemed?) but other than that it seems they are ALL legit posts...(and Zombieville 2 also has 1 non-postie...)
And not to mention someone who voted for Ninja Pong was affiliated with the dev, had 2 old posts way back in Feb of 2010, the account dug up surely for the sole purpose of voting.
They are also doing it on Twitter as well... @alienwormgames: "If you have Touch Arcade account and like our game please vote on Ninja Pong. Maybe we can become Game of the Week http://t.co/Pnhe7sJo"
Alright since a few of those accounts are banned already, a few are low posters that might have only come back to vote cuz of twitter, my input would be that Ninja Pong disqualified itself by getting involved in the voting process. This has happened before - can't remember the game - but a dev twittered and asked people on their own forums to come here and vote and ended up disqualifying themselves. Probably should keep this clean and do the same now too. It's supposed to be a FUN POLL. And yet, so many problems have arisen.
I remember that, except they pretty much hauled in like 10+ voters if I'm right. These people only hauled in 3 maybe (I'm pretty sure that the other 1-2 you found would be probly from the Twitter that saw the post and thought 'oh, I'll help them'. that 's just my guess though, feel free to prove it wrong cause it might be). What you could do, though, is halve their votes, causing it to have to be 2 votes for every 1 that counts....
Techinically, what Alien Worm Games isn't breaking the rules. The rule states that they can't bring outsiders to JOIN and then vote. They got people who were already apart of TA...
-Just wondering, but which one was that? I didn't find an account that was banned besides two (my best guess is that one came from someone's twitter thing to vote, the other who knows). - And neither of them seemed to have any visible connection to the developer i found (I'll admit I am giving them the benefit of the doubt though). I hope I'm right here, though. I'll admit these votes should be discounted (as should any zero-poster here) but I think it's too drastic to ban them from the poll. -And to our complete knowledge they tweeted "if you have a touch arcade account..." meaning that some people that had worked with them in the past and followed them on twitter and thought "oh, sure, I'll go vote for them." (things look funky since they were three separate ish thoughts)...
One more till 100 votes. This is true. TA outsiders don't get to vote because they skew the results from what is supposed to reflect what the TA community likes. The dev hasn't technically broken any rules since he's only asked existing TA posters to vote. I also don't see anything malicious in their intent, I'm sure the more enthusiastic devs on this forum would ask thread followers to join in the poll. However, the murky area now is that we get a poll that's skewed towards devs with more "grassroots" activity simply because they can get their fanbase out in droves, over other games that the forum likes but the devs either aren't present or have active forum participation. Devs like Imangi Studios, Bolt Creative and AngryMobGames have much more dialogue with forum posters than say, Gameloft or Epic Games. So known vote spammers (like those New England Gamer have identified) shouldn't be allowed, and people who sign up in the last few minutes to vote (clearly not part of the community) shouldn't be allowed, no question. But for future polls, we should get a consensus as to whether developers motivating their TA community fanbase to vote in a TA community poll skews the poll unfairly.
Sorry guys if we did something we shouldn't have done. We didn't want to cheat or force somebody to vote for us. We thought it would be alright if we spread the news about this contest and encourage people who like our game to vote for it. Again, sorry if we broke any rules. We didn't want to do it. If the situation is not fair for anyone, please don't take us into consideration in this voting. We really like Toucharcade and we want to be part of this community. We do appreciate good relations with other developers and players and don't want anybody of you to feel bad.
We want to appologize all forum members, who found our behaviour unfair. As we said before we want to be a part of the TouchArcade community and don't want to break forum rules.
