Not sure whether to place this here or in the dev forum, but I figured it would get more views here. Move if needed. Now we all know of the ads scattered across TA. And we also know of many devs that paid for these ads and were saddened because of low clickage (Yes, I just made up a word ) I, for one, hate the App Store on the computer, and always buy games on my iTouch, thus I don't click the adds. Now here's my question. If the ad is designed well and appealing, which of the above (Poll) do you do? I was just curious how those ads REALLY do.
i take a good look at the game then decide...usually the indie devs advertise so sometimes i do buy but othertimes i dont
The only time I got a game because the ads is the tap Fu front page background one. I couldn't help but not buy it.
I try and support the more deserving devs around here, and I think by now you all know I play a decent amount of games... but I use Adblock Plus, and I'm not making exceptions for tA It's not too much to ask for, having a totally clean-looking website.
Something to consider is that Apple hasn't really made it a secret that they look at the game/app sites to look at what is cool or popular when featuring things. We've posted about some super obscure stuff that was featured shortly thereafter, so looking at the value of advertisements purely as a cost per click thing may not be entirely accurate.
Even if the ads were visible to me, I wouldn't click them just for looking nice. All they would do is prompt me to look up the game's topic here on TA, and I see most of them anyway so how much difference it makes is still kinda open to questioning.
I've never clicked on an ad..Either I've already heard of the game and have it or know about it and don't want it.
I only really took notice of two ads... Tap-Fu and i-Fishing. Tap-Fu i bought, and was a little dissapointed in, i was expecting something more.the ad for i-Fishing actually turned me off of buying the game, because of the hick-looking guy in the flannel shirt. I bought Flick Fishing instead
I always look at the ads, and if one seems interesting I will look it up on the app store, or check the forums. I don't usually click on the ads, though...but if TA gets money per click, I'd be happy to start clicking instead! If it directly benefits TA, I think there would be a lot more people clicking, since most of us would like to support the site.
HEY, there is nothing wrong with bouncing kitties! I've never clicked on a TA ad to be honest. Which is unfortunate, because I missed some really cool games like Tap-Fu when they first came out. It was only much later that I tried Tap-Fu only to realize it has among the best control schemes for the iPhone (no clunky onscreen buttons).
