I have never played a Swords & Poker game before and I can definitely see the appeal of it. The concept of the game is great. I wish this was a pure premium game and I hope Konami will consider a separate version or increasing what the infinite energy IAP does to further reduce the freemium trappings. In any case, I will play this for a while until it gets too annoying. Typically I delete freemium games in the first 10 minutes. I just hate all the social crap and the multiple currencies. I will gladly pay money for good quality games.
I plan on playing the game for a while and evaluating that option. Based on some of the opinions others have already expressed here, I am not so sure whether the $4.99 unlock goes far enough for me.
I would have totally paid money for this, but the aggressive free to play model they have chosen completely turns me off.
Okay that's really strange.. I wonder why I don't have them, I did buy both games way back. Just checked again and neither are there.
I still have the other two versions. From a presentation value I love this game and prefer the new style.
You're arguing with people who probably haven't and likely won't even try the game even though it's free. Save yourself the time and trouble. These threads are always a wasteland.
Yes Eli, I agree but I did notice that some of the "stars" to achieve per level are just begging for you to go back hours later and redo. I mean once you do the first level and 3 star it. It seems that the next 3 stages are only a star maybe obtainable. Idk it seems like a drag but I'll keep plugging away because that's what addicts do
Once you 3 star the first stage, the others are pretty much a grind. They require abilities you don't even have access to till later. Check out my progress on stages 2 & 3 compared to 1. You get about 100 gold per stage run, and the first weapon besides the gem one costs 470, and I can only imagine that cost will double or triple on the next piece. So you can guess how many runs you would need to be competitive with the star achievements. That's not to say that the gameplay isn't fun, it is if you can completely ignore mastering each stage and just plug along. Also the charm from the original S&W series isn't here, it's in a grave somewhere. The table graphics are nice to look at, although they could've added a few more touches such as showing equipped weapons/shields on your avatar in battles, or refining enemy avatars which are boring to look at compared to the goofy looking ones in the original series. The menus and UI look great, and information on how certain weapons will change your attack are easy to read, so I'll give it a plus on that. I thought I knew how to play poker, but maybe I am missing something. Check out my second screenshot - to me it looks like I have a straight, but the game doesn't think so. Either I am right and there are some wonky hands in this game , or I am missing something here. I also can't believe I am pointing this out as I completely hate Facebook integration in iOS games, but in response to what someone here mentioned earlier about the 5th card on your table being inaccessible - I completely disagree. That 5th card is a small bonus and doesn't detract from the core gameplay of the game, nor does it leave you at a disadvantage to enemies who only get 4 cards regardless. I personally don't have a Facebook, but I thought for those that do that was a nice addition.
Yes you can earn gems. I have cleared 5 of the 52 areas, I earn about 5 gems per area and have a total of 30 gems. The first weapon you can buy is 110 gems. To get one of the 3 stars in the 2nd level, you need to use the Rob skill which costs 10 gems to buy. There are other stars that will not be earnable without the right equipment or magic purchased with gems no matter how much you grind. Do I like this game? Yes. But currently I can only play it in short spurts (due to energy bar) and with the knowledge that I will be unable to enjoy the full game (some equipment and magic) or 3 star everything even if I pay the $5 premium price.
You earn 5 gems once, there are no repeats on the stage clear gem bonus. And lets be honest premium currency is put in place to create IAP sales nothing more, in the same way that gems work in Rival Knights. Can you enjoy the game by ignoring the premium currency in this game? From what I read in the help book purchasing a gem magic skill like Rob will unlock it for one use, and after that may need to be purchased again. Is this true? If I purchase Rob, will I get access to that magic spell any time I want or is it a consumable thing? I thought I could continue in the game and unlock magic spells in the same way that I earned the Berserk spell, but I cleared the second stage and was awarded nothing.
A straight in that situation would be A-2-3-4-5 or A-K-Q-J-10. The Ace can't play both high and low at the same time or wrap around.
