Weird. Graphics are very nice, if a bit generic (they lack some of the charm of the older games). And there's energy. M*****ing energy. Sigh. Anyway, y'all might like to give it a go. I'll actually skip the good points and talk about the bad. Basically they ruined about 70% of the game. Luckily the game only needs internet when first starting up to make an account HOWEVER, it appears to always check the internet as you play. It'll still let you play offline but it always says connecting on some popups (probably some popup asking to bug your friends). The items are ruined as they've went heavy freemium. Half the items are locked with gems so you know what, you're gonna have to spend money if you want to collect. And the timers are there as you'd expect. So far, the first shield is a gem only purchase. I hope the rest aren't like that because I've already seen some of the weapons are gems only. Also it's poorly optimized. No fancy graphics but it slows down at times and drains a lot of ram everytime I open the app. The old one was a super quick game which made it even better. It ran amazingly smooth. You know when I first opened the app I said "I can spend $5 to get rid of these timers. It should look premium then." But nope, there's diamonds and all that crap and that won't make it premium. Also making it into half a social game by all these popups , INBOXES (WTF is an inbox doing in sword and poker?), etc they've pooped on the original. The base of the game, without all that crap, is actually a really good game. So I'm contemplating keeping it. However I don't have a single timer game or online only game on my device so this is really tempting to delete.. I can't say how much longer I'll keep it as it seems to turn to love to disappointment very fast. Ahhh screw it. Not worth all the headache: Deleted. Btw, I'm one of the biggest fans of the originals. Probably the best iOS card game ever. Whoever redid this ruined it. And the mechanics are good, because it's borrowed mechanics. That's about it sadly. Still pretty pissed how I've waited how many years and we get this steaming pile. It's a slap in the face. Forgot to mention. You only have 1 magic slot and the 2nd costs coins and the 3rd costs gems. I assume they're one time use slots as freemium titles usually have them. And you get 4 cards per turn and can "ask a friend" to give you a 5th card. So you always see a blank card on your screen. How annoying. This isn't really related but you're better off paying $15+tax for Monster Hunter where you get a gigantic game with no timers or IAP. This game won't leave you fulfilled no matter how much money you spend. indalico Well-Known Member Aug 25, 2011 660 0 16 ohio #18 indalico, Jul 17, 2014 It sure is a nice looking game. At heart it is the re-make that all long-time fans of the original have hoped for. However... My enthusiasm is thoroughly hampered by the abrasive IAP. I would be willing to consider the 4.99 timer removal as the price of the game, but then we still have the paid currency for upgrades. They should have followed the originals as they had a very good internal upgrade progression unaffected by outside currency. It would be nice if Konami followed the fans on this one and release a premium version because the game itself is a real winner. Unfortunately that probably won't happen. At the very least you can still buy the originals. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
