I can understand both sides of the difficulty factor near the end of this game, i'm really enjoying it but now i've reached close to the end i'm getting frustrated as anything. Granted games in the 80's and 90's used to be very difficult, specially in the 80's as you couldnt save your progress in most games. But when games are free, 69p or so with iOS you tend to go from one game to the other quite quickly if you're frustrated with the one you're playing at the moment. In the old days when a game cost a lot of money (and you didnt earn much) you tended to perservere much more, but when theres so many free games or 69p games to move on and play I personally dont want some tricky frustrating end to a game or i'll simply just move on and play something else. The first 80% of this game i totally love, near perfect but now the difficulty setting is just getting frustrating time and time again, as others have said it seems i need a bit of luck in beating some of these end of section baddies.
Swordigo is absolutely perfect as is. Please do not make it easier. I have been waiting for a game of this quality for a long time and I hope this sets a new standard for what the possibilities are for an iOS game. This is one of the extremely few games that I have not deleted after a few minutes. (One of the others being Soosiz) During the harder parts of the game, I found memories of the glory days of NES/SNES flooding back. I didn't think the game was difficult just for difficult's sake, but it was challenging and then extremely rewarding when finally defeating the last few bosses. p.s. For those having trouble with the final bosses, I found that the trinket that heals you was invaluable.
This is really crazy, I have managed to get the treasure above the wheel where you have to rock the platform and jump far left, so I guess I know how to long double jump, but for the life in me I honestly don't get it why would you make a game so frustrating? ( I have all the treasures thus far) I am talking about this jump, it is relatively early in the game, I haven't even gotten to the hard bossess which are obviously nearly impossible to beat. And how on earth do you jump to the skeleton with the sword in the graveyard?? One more thing: the minute I saw the crazy bat thing on fire spewing fireballs, I knew that the devs were making a game for them, not for us. Why, oh why would you make such a great game and then ruin it with difficulty? I have noticed that the complainers are not only casual platform gamers like me, but experienced one. Mad & sad... Does anybody have some suggestion to those two, for me, impossible jumps? ( sorry for the anger, but I really loved the game and obviously I am sad that I can't continue) If you have the problem with the above screenshot you have to jump at the beginning of the bridges, a then do the second jump. I thought that I was missing some spell or somthing and it got really frustrating. I still cannot jump to the skeleton with the sword in the graveyard. ( hope that the spoiler tags are not necessary in this thread, 'cause of the title)
Arya, you have to jump, let yourself drop just below the hanging rock and then jump again. It also help to get a bit of a running start. You double-tap the direction arrow to run.
I really don't understand all the complaints about the game being too hard. People always complain about games being too easy, and now here's a game that presents a challenge and they complain about that too. Sure the last few bosses are hard. But its the end of the game it should be hard. Sure the bats are a pain in the butt at first, it just makes you figure out a strategy to beat them. Just wait for the super fast creates in the snow world, now those guys are annoying, but I still managed to get past them. If your really getting your butt kicked. Go back and find some treasures and level up in the process. Save up for new armor/weapons, and carry a potion at all times. Also, you can use any portal to warp back to town and visit the healer. I think the difficulty level in this game ramped up in a nice fashion. People will just complain about anything no matter what.
I haven't once said that the game is too hard... I have, however, said that the bosses are mindless, and require no skill, and pose no real challenge what-so-ever. When you have an equal shot at defeating the bosses with or without your eyes closed, and just mashing away on the screen, that's not fun. It's not challenging, and it feels cheap. Yes, it's just a $2 iOS game... but it's very clear that Touch Foo set their expectations of themselves very high with this release, and with 95% of the game being basically pure iOS gold, it seems like they just got sick of working so hard on this project, and ended up rushing through the development of the boss battles. To test this out, I've actually gone back and replayed the last boss battle with my eyes closed. Took me 5 tries to beat it. Sorry, but when you can do that... where's the skill? It's not a matter of difficulty - it's the lack of skill throughout the bosses that gets me. Again, I've never said I thought it was too hard. I actually said that I didn't want the developers to change the difficulty, but that with a couple tweaks, they could make it so that boss battles actually required skill, instead of mindless button mashing and luck. I don't know where you get "OH THIS IS TOO HARD" from that... but whatever... it's obvious that this is going to go nowhere...
Well it's too hard for me. I'm at 98% completion but now I give up, the last boss is impossible to beat.
syntheticvoid, I wasn't talking about you with my rant. Just the general crop of people complaining that the game is too hard. I remember the first night the game came out, people commenting that the game is too easy. But whatev, the internet was made so people could complain about anything they want to and have people listen to it. So there we have it. The fact that you beat the last boss with your eyes closed and someone else has stopped playing the game because the last boss is too hard for them really makes me wonder. I mean its the last boss, you shouldn't be able to beat it first try. I remember a certain game that starts with Z that I hardly ever died in.
I honestly think that the game is a bit too frustrating. but I have to admit that I love it - maybe they could have made the game so that we can choose the easy and the hard difficulty... Now I am at the place with the crushing rocks and the long jump ( someone posted this screenshot here already)and after 10 tries I think that it requires luck, not skill. I have all the treasures ( without the guide)and of course I go to the healer when I have one heart. And I carry a potion... Can anybody tell me how to jump to the skeleton with the sword in the graveyard. I am now in the caves of Florennum and still haven't been able to beat the graveyard. Thank you Billygreen for your answer! I can see in the achievements that the Shadow trinket is acquired in the Graveyard ( it says the undead, so I suppose I suspect right), can somebody tell me what does it do, because if it is important I guess I cannot continue... Ok now I am a bit ashamed when thinking about the graveyard, because it was easy to jump when I used my head- as I already said I am not experienced platformer, so I don't know the tricks. I still think the game is a bit too difficult for a casual gamer.
My problem with the difficulty level of the last two bosses comes down to a balance thing. The rest of the game had a completely different feel to me than those last two encounters. Up until then there were challenges but I never felt a level of frustration based on the game design. If anything it was more my lack of platforming ability. With those last two bosses I didn't feel incompetent so much as helpless. Pretty randomly flailing with a huge amount of luck seemingly involved. Took what was a wonderful gaming experience and made ending the game somewhat of a chore that I did not look forward to taking on. I don't want to sound too harsh as I did really enjoy almost all of the game more than any other I have played on the platform. Merely stating how I felt about the end which of course is the impression you are left with.
Can anyone tell me where Edogani the Deadly is? I'm at the last boss but my achievements don't reflect that I've killed him.
Stuck I am stuck in the Duengon. After the trap door room, after the fireball part, there is a room with three walls that go up and down, and a key overhead. Not sure how to solve this one. Can someone give some advice?
Spoiler In the room with the stone house in the center, to your bottom left is a wall that can be bombed, I'm pretty sure that's what you're looking for
Does anyone know is it really needed to pass through the crushing walls and the long jump bit? I Had to look to the walkthrough and I think that the OP who wrote the guide says:"you will find a gauntlet that might just make you cry, but at the end of which you will be well-rewarded with treasure 18b". What is the treasure? What kind of gauntlet? I am now at the Outskirts Florennum and I've beaten the boss in the Overseeres's Lair. Based on my map I don't have to finish the crushing rocks bit...that would be the only treasure I don't have. Honestly, I cannot make the long jump that was already mentioned on this thread. Any help would be appreciated. Very addictive game! Didn't know that platformers could be fun, somewhat frustrating, but fun!
You have to guide the fireball to the far right so it hits the blue "blob". Try hitting the first blob and you'll notice that it lowers the wall...
The gauntlet is the same one you're trying to complete. After you complete it, you get a Fire Trinket. To get through that jump, you have to start running as the wall is moving up. If you time is so you jump just as the wall goes past, you should have enough time to hold the first jump and double-jump to *just* make it before you get crushed.
help with throwing bomb in 21b Going off the numbers at the start of this thread, can someone help me figure out how to throw a bomb through that small opening, my bombs never get high enough. It seems like you would have to double jump, which you can't while holding a bomb. Is there any good place to stand, is it a running jump? Thanks.
Hmmmm..I already have the fire trinket. I've bought it and added to the sword...guess I'll stop trying. Thank you very much!
Does anyone know how to get passed the loop room in the great caves? I'm pretty sure I have to go down there to get the third spell or something like that 'cuz I know i need that spell for the parts after the icy cave
