I bought this game and have a few things to say: - It's really fun...like old-school Prince of Persia meets Zelda. - Thank you, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for building in syncing of save games to iCloud. Seriously, that's a great feature that more games need to implement. I love playing on my iPad, then switching right over to my iPhone as I leave the house. - When Apple ever opens the Apple TV to apps, I really hope this is one of the first to appear...especially with the savegame syncing!! - Is there any way bluetooth controller support can be added? Basic iCade support should be fine, but anything else would be wonderful. Right now, I'm using Blutrol to allow my Gametel controller to control the game instead of touch controls. It works perfect, but I have many friends that would love this game, but don't want to jailbreak their device. The touch controls are fine, but playing it with a controller is really awesome.
So what's so great about this? Is it nostalgic? How big is the world? Is it an open world or is it broken into sections?
I think this will define the game very well: it's a damn must-buy. Seriously, if you're looking for an awesome platformer game, just buy this. Now, answering your questions: It isn't nostalgic, at least for me. It's just unique in its genre: action platformer with RPG elements. Maybe like The Legend Of Zelda 2 (NES), but way better. It's very huge. Into sections.
Any tips for beating the Overseer? Game is great fun, it's an action platformer. It's got Metroid-vania type progression (find a locked door, you will eventually come back with the key to open that new area.)
It's the mage boss, right? The battle is fractured in I think 3 parts. In the first part, the Mage teleports between the left side and the right side of the screen. Go to the central platform and stand there. The Overseer attacks this way: when appearing, it throws a lot of energy balls around him, and after a while, it will prepare its main attack again. Just stand in the middle platform, and avoid every energy ball. If you leveled up your physics attacks, do this: wait for its attack. Avoid it, and quickly jump to the platform where it is, and attack it 3 times. Then, return to the middle platform and avoid its attacks again. Repeat. If you leveled up your magic, stand in the middle platform and only use your bombs, but without waiting for its main attack: throw them from your platform. In the next part just use the standard magic attack, because it is at the very left of the screen. Trying to attack it with the sword is almost a suicide. In the last part it will teleport between the top-left side, the top-right side, and the middle of the screen. If it is in the top-left, go to the left, under its platform. If it is in the top-right, go to the right, under its platform too. Do this very quickly. Then, it will reappear in the middle, very slowly. Attack it with the swords several times, then escape. Repeat. Hope this helps a bit.
Actually this is the best platform game on AppStore, music is very good and level design too! I'm waiting for the sequel, I just finish the game at 100%!
Thanks! I was on the third section and by that time have hardly any health left over. I was trying to fight the boss on each platform, not just the middle! I have something to do on my train ride home tonight woot woot!
I need help! im at Worlds ends keep and theres a corrupter that if i try to kill it sends me back to my home screen on my iphone and theres this jump thats way to far! and my Dimension rift isnt seeing anything and i cant grapple on to anything! Help? its before the map with a bunch of falling plateforms and bats
I found that you can go to a platform that is a little higher and the bugs can't jump. I just drop bombs or do the dragon claw to get the bugs.
I'm enjoying the game so far but there are a few mechanics that aren't quite polished that have been bothering me a bit. (I'm about 50% in) 1. If you get hit you blink but aren't invincible. This makes it so you can get ping ponged between two enemies until all your health is gone. This can also occur if you fall off a platform and the game decides to re-spawn you on an enemy. 2. The sword swinging has a few issues. If there are a bunch of smaller enemies clumped together you can only hit one of them at a time with your sword clipping through the others. Its a little frustrating when your fighting on a small platform. Speaking of small platforms the sword swinging makes you step forward. This can lead to a lot of unintended deaths. This combined with you not being able to hit grouped enemies can cause you to walk into an enemy and lose health (or bounce off the platform only to be spawned on top of said enemies). Lastly, since the arc of the swing changes (sometimes over your head, sometimes not) it makes fighting flying objects (like bats) rather annoying. Its definitely a nice little game but some are talking it up to the levels of Metroid or Zelda which is a bit miss-leading. I would maybe call it an indie take on a Metroidvania. It has a lot of potential but could have used a bit more time in the oven.
I agree with this. I was actually thinking about this during a tough encounter. I also think that the boss battles are extremely frustrating. I'm at the guy who's being shielded by the machines, and you have to go into the shadow realm or whatever to destroy them, and it's extremely frustrating. All of the boss fights' attacks are extremely hard to avoid without a dodge or block button, and I find myself getting stuck between smaller enemies who eat away my health. This fight is particularly bad because I'll run out of mana and have to wait for it to recharge, and the super fast little creatures that the guy spits out are impossible not to get hurt by.
Can't escape Florennum Hey guys, I'm in Florennum and have all the chests there and almost all the chests in areas I've encountered, but the gate out of the city is locked as well as the two westernmost buildings in the city. Anyone else encounter this problem?
If you're looking for help with the game, please go here to post questions that might contain spoilers in the answers: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=126890&highlight=Swordigo There's a pretty complete walkthrough on the game, and long list of questions asked and answered on generel gameplay.
