I tried going the other direction, creating a new game on the iPad and then seeing if it ended up on the iPhone, and it didn't show up either. And still I'm not seeing the iPhone ever say that it is loading games from the cloud, so it sure looks like it's just not functioning at all any more on the iPhone, for reasons unknown, and that's why it's not syncing between them.
Not asking to lower the difficulty... But to make it more skill instead of luck based... I've beat the game, and I know if I went back, I'd only beat it again because of luck... Because there's no strategy involved... Just mindless button mashing and luck... I don't consider that 'challenging' - I consider that frustrating, and cheap. When you have the same chances of beating a boss by closing your eyes and tapping away... It's not fun.
while ive yet to reach that part of Swordigo... if you've ever played Demon's Souls or Dark Souls... you'd understand what I'm trying to say... in MANY occasions, Both Demons and Dark Souls seem VERY unfair, like a lot of cheapness if going on and that the game is just impossible... but it's not cheap or impossible.... maybe you are just not meant to get into every situation and win them all... or even think they're fair... they're just there to make you want to break the controller... maybe the challenge is in maneuvering around that "impossible" situation... yeah maybe you are right and the scenerio Gabrien explained really is cheap... but even cheap has a workaround

Well then... By your judgement, I don't need to play Demons or Dark Souls to say that they're cheap, mindless, and not challenging in any way... I guess it would also give me the right to say that you don't like a real challenge, and that mindless games that require no skill at all, mindless games that you seem to like so much, are why people don't take ios gaming seriously and just laugh it off... Or I could be reasonable, and actually play something before I misinterpret what someone says, and bash their opinions... Then again, what fun would that be, right?
which is the reason why im playing Swordigo, find it too easy and am looking forward to the difficulty spike you guys are talking about... and in what part of everything that I've said, mindless is what im looking for? i though that when i said "im tired of playing easy games on iOS" it mean that i want something difficult... if that wasn't what i meant, then tell me... what does that really mean?
No spoilers in this thread please. You can use the following thread if you need help with a certain part of the game or want to discuss the ending of the game! http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=126890
I think we all have to keep our expectations and requirements in check with this. It's. $2 game. For a $2 game to NOT take some lower roads is unexpected. Right at the start you can tell its an excellent game, but one that has had to cut some corners. Castle Crashers is to me the same sort of thing. It's cheap and it can be cheated, there are balance issues in it even after all this time. And the amount of money that went into the production and design of that game versus this? The budget for Swordigo probably was less than the food budget on CC Anyways, I'm not saying that we should give a pass to any game, but I'm not going to expect Zelda here, and I think what we do have is a much more strong game than any platformer in the app store to date. But damn I wish this had icade support. Sigh.
I haven't played the game yet, but I often think people too closely associate patterned boss fights with tests of skill and then dismiss something that requires good reaction times to random attacks as completely unrelated to skill. Personally, I'd just call the two things memorization and reflex, respectively.
Agree with syntheticvoid mostly - there definitely could be more strategy in this game, rather than all hack and slash. However, I felt that there was more than meets the eye with regards to bosses in terms of skill, because with some practice, you could basically predict what their next attack would be based on their animation, and then dodge/counter the attack. But yeah, although I noticed some areas where true skill may have been needed, I felt it could have been expanded on so much more. On another note, I have to say I really enjoyed finding all the treasures throughout the game. Some of them were quite brilliantly placed, and others were just a fun challenge to get.
I'm only at 36% through the game as I haven't had quite the time to sit down and fully enjoy it (and tend to do the more level based games when I have a short period of time). But I did have one question that sort of relates to the whole debate of skill/strategy. Can you not "level up" your characters in earlier parts of the game? I'm at a point where I get close to defeating a boss and/or multiple enemies that are more difficult than those in earlier portions of the game. I wasted some of my in-game money on health potions that didn't help much (and, stupidly touched the button for the potion when I already had full health ). So I was going through some earlier areas and while there's still enemies there, when I kill them it doesn't seem to add to my experience to level up. And the in-game currency is harder to come by to beef up my character's weapons, armor, etc. Don't by any means think the game is necessarily too challenging. Just made some dumb decisions (which may be in part to having long time periods between gameplay sessions).
I love this game, but I am finding too many jumps to be really difficult and frustrating. When there are several nasty ones in a row without a save point in between it takes too many tedious retries to progress. I am currently trying to get through the wastelands, but I am putting this down for a while or perhaps forever.
You mean very long jumps? Don't forget that you can run faster by double tap and hold the move buttons. Makes you jump farther too. I totally missed that for a while too. Then there are those jumps where there is something in the way above you in the middle. You need to jump a little short, then double jump to go back up. Like an "M".
Yep, I know about the long jump. The jump that usually takes me quite a few minutes to get by is from one of those swinging platforms in the Wasteland. I have painfully gotten through that one about 6 or 7 times now, but then there is a subsequent Spoiler barrier where I think you need to jump up and toss a bomb at precisely the right time to blow up some rocks on the other side that I keep failing at. This is the Demon's Souls of IOS platformers for me.
Just finished the game with 100% This definitely goes down as one of my favorite iOS games of all time. This, Superbrothers, and Space Miners were really the only three iOS to keep me captivated from start to finish. The only games that made me not play any of my other games until I beat them. I think the difficulty ramps up nicely with some good challenges and only a few frustrating moments.
Oh, and it sure is the bummer that the TA hasn't reviewed this one yet. I hope give it the attention it deserves soon.
Try running around jumping and changing directions mid-air and experimenting with holding down different lengths. Don't forget that you jump further when you run too. Gosh, you guys weren't very good at Super Mario Anything were ya? I haven't found a boss I couldn't "cheat" on so far (40-something percent), which is OK because I suck at the bosses anyhow. I am as lame at using a sword and also dodging as some others are at jumping.
Finally got a little further and, prior to now, I didn't have any issues with the jumping mechanic. In fact, I thought it's very responsive. But now, I can see where people may be having issues. Don't think this is really a "spoiler" as it's just a gap that I'm having problems with. But I'm in the Dungeon of Florennum and there's a swinging platform, which is easily jumped to via a double jump. But from there you need to jump to a ledge that's much, much higher. And no matter how I try to time it as far as running and jumping off the platform as it gets closer to the ledge, there's just no way I'm even coming close to it. And it is aggrevating the crap out of me. (BTW, I didn't post this issue in the strategy thread specifically because I don't want to accidentally see any spoilers.)
