There's another thread for discussing the solutions / spoilers / strategies for Swordigo: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=126890 Just moved over a hundred strategy posts over there....
I'm pretty sure the only place is the leaderboard. Edit: The treasures guide is now finished! Woo? Also, go there for discussing strategies and asking advice on boss fights/locations please.
I can't see why... I think the game looks great with the graphics they've chosen. We've got a host of 8 and 16 bit graphics on the AppStore, it seems it's a trend, but I find this game looks great as it is. In the beginning of the game, I found the graphics a bit simple, but further in the game it seems the Devs found ways to make the game look gorgeous. The 3D Bosses looks great, the effects looks cool, everything fits, IMO. I just hope the game sells by the bucketloads, so the Devs can get to work on a sequel..
As a huge fan of both Zelda and Mario I have to say this game is so, so good! Some of the best platforming controls I've seen on iOS (and I've played most of them) combined with adventuring, fighting and developing your character in a way very reminiscent of Zelda. Very slick, professional menus and gameplay. The more I'm playing the more impressed I am with the whole game. Fantastic...
Right now we are in the "fix the bugs" mode, but at some point we really want to add something more to play - especially for those who have already completed the game.
Personally, while I will grab any additions to the game in a heartbeat, I would prefer you used your resources on a sequel.. I would love a part Deux to the game eventually.
It's a good idea. We tried to get an iControlPad for testing a few months back but never got a response about the dev kit, so it was kind of forgotten. I guess we could just buy one. I have one question though about games that support iCade/iControlPad. Do they usually have controller support for all the menus etc? Or do you still have to use the touch screen for some parts of the game?
It is possible to provide support to use the joystick to move between menus and select via buttons, but with many iCade compatible games, you have to use the touchscreen to select menu options etc. That's not a big deal at all - In my opinion, being able to play the game via physical joystick and buttons is the most important. Great idea with iCade support, but I must say that you've done an outstanding job with the virtual buttons as the game is now!
Because you are sitting right in front of the icade with the iPad in reach, there is no need to control all the menus and stuff with the icade IMO. A lot of games use mixed controls: menu stuff and all that are to be controlled by touch screen inputs, but the core in game mechanics are to be controlled by the icade. Works very well and by using this method I suppose that it is pretty straight forward to include icade support without having to come up with a new menu structure and all that. I believe most of us would be very happy if you'd include icade support for basic character controls only. There is no need to change everything to icade controls. Your touch screen controls are top notch but still it is great to be able to play games with physical buttons - especially on the iPad as the device tends to get kind of heavy after some time
Wondered the same thing, but bought the game in the end because of all the love its been getting in this thread. After finally playing it for an hour just now, I totally understand. The controls and gameplay are butter smooth. Never ever did I play a platformer this smooth and engaging on iOS. Seriously... stop pondering, smash that buy button and come find out what me and everyone else has been raving about so far.
How are the sales of the game so far relative to the expectations you had? Are they meeting or exceeding your expectations? Seems to be a slow but steady rise up the charts. Currently sits at #31 all paid apps, and just about to crack top 100 grossing apps.
Really enjoying this game so far. Great art style, very clean and plays well. One small thing that has been tedious, however-- not every boss has a portal just before the battle. An example of this is when you go into the castle and fight the Protector boss...when I lose to him, I have to run through the castle again, losing half of my health in the process, only to get to the boss and die again. Because I die so quickly, I have almost no time to really figure out the boss' tactics or attack pattern, so I feel like I'm just endlessly throwing myself at him. I put down the game after 15-20 deaths in the same way. :\
Just finished this game 100% completion with every achievement. It is without a doubt the best game I've played on the iOS system. I couldnt put it down all last night. Just amazed, and can't wait for more by touch foo.
