That's definitely a good thing, but what we were saying is a game default (prior to launch) so that players who start up and don't have much experience can see their health; many do not seem to know there's an auto-hide function. Better to always show health and leave the player enable auto-hide at a later time. THat's all we're saying
Oh, I know, I'm just speaking for future generations here. Auto-hiding does makes things neat and reduce clutter, to be sure, but I could see as a new user, "Whao...where did my HP bar go and how the heck do I bring it back up!?" For even further controversy, you guys might want to allow an option for the previous barless display. Not as pretty but doesn't cover as much real estate and more clearly displays the current gold.
Ooh I like that suggestion I have to note that I'm impressed with the dev presence in this thread/forum. What's with you roguelike developers, you are so personable (Commander Data I'm looking at you too!)
Clearly they're clueless idiots that need EA or Take 2 show them how customer service should be done! Customers are there to buy your product but can't possibly offer any useful feedback and are best completely ignored!
I think I agree with the auto-hiding default being backwards... this is easy to change. The HUD style certainly could be optionally adapted for a more "hardcore" layout like the old one as well. If this is the sort of thing that people want in order to enjoy the game to the fullest, well it's really no problem for me. Not hard to implement or anything...
So far I love the game. My only complaint is that your health bar keeps dissapearing and I would love to be able to see my current health at all times.
lol, i saw that under setting myself. But i figured that if the developers thought it best to have it auto-hide then i was better off. The confusion started after i started the game and was thinking of looking at my health and couldnt really figure out how without fighting someone. And also, i didnt know hit points where health, it wasnt clear to me until said monsters attacked. Maybe instead of hit points it could be health? but i dont know if thats messing with a default setting for these type of games, so I leave it to you guys and other forum members to discuss.
ah thanks!! I was amazed when I realized I could zoom in and out of the map and also that enemies spawn!!!
Game Impressions just let me say that so far one of the best moments has been when this dwarf came out of nowhere and apparently stole something and ran away, then i found him and beat him up... i just couldnt tell if he stole something or if i picked up something. But that was pretty neat.
I love to hunt down Rogues And I just loved to meet a magician for the first time. Right now, I'm playing very slowly and carefully, being on experience level 19 while wandering around in level 15...I want that ****** sword
I'm taking my sweet time with this too, exploring every nook and cranny I can find; every hole in the wall, every staircase, just to make sure I'm not missing something. Right now I'm at 23rd level with a +25 sword wandering around level 15, though I'm mostly done with that floor I think (barring any stairways down below that lead up to an unexplored area of 15) so I'll be moving on. I'm just making damn sure I've got the muscle before I move on to each successive level. I just met a mage for the first time. Bastard summons a bunch of skeletons which, while I beat 'em with one swing, are still annoying. Wraiths are the worst though. They scare the fight outta my character and I have to let them swing first before I can kill them -- and they multiply like rabbits and can scare me through walls. There ought to be a potion or spell you can cast to gird yourself against fear or something so you're not constantly belayed by their shrieks when you just wanna get somewhere. I've got bigger things to slay than those toothless bedsheets. It seems like the deeper I go the more things happen that mostly just delay and inconvenience me rather than pose a genuine threat: Darkness, blindness, fear, poison, sickness (not sure what being sick does though), teleportitis, levitation, getting stoned -- er, I mean confused, etc. Nonetheless I'm still hopelessly hooked.
I tell you and Madgarden what: an app is a really good app when your wifey starts making divorce jokes at the end of a day with a sweet, innocent smile... Btw, you got 6 5-Star-Ratings in germany so far! And... where can I sign in for the Anonymus Fargoholics?
remember, everyone write itunes reviews for this developer, get him some money so he can update or make even more awesome games
I agree, people need to show their support with good reviews in the App Store. The good ones that I received really helped keep me motivated when making all those updates to Rogue Touch earlier this year! I'm definitely interested to see what Fargoal and Madgarden have in store for the updates, and I will probably toss them a few ideas of my own too I'll be writing my Sword of Fargoal iTunes review this evening once I can get back to the quiet of my hotel room and compose properly!
Thanks for the support guys! Really looking forward to evolving this game into something truly unique and adventurous
