I really want to get this, but I have almost every other rogue-like on the iPhone, so I really cannot justify $5 on another one... Maybe if it goes on sale for $2.99 to celebrate the the 1.1 update I will get it regardless, as I does look REALLY good!
I think I'm doing something wrong. It was a cakewalk on levels 1-3, but on level 4 every single thing I try to fight kicks my ass. This is on easy difficulty too. Are you supposed to do a fair amount of grinding in games like this? My dude is level 3 right now. This looks like it will be fun once I figure it out.
Is waiting what could be months for one of the best games on the iPhone really worth it to you for two dollars?
Yes, yes you can. You can justify it because it's awesome, because you'll love it and become hopelessly addicted to it, and because if you don't I'm going to tell everyone that you wear Dora The Explorer underwear and your bedroom is lined with Justin Bieber posters.
This update makes it worth more than $5. I was lucky and bought it when it was on sale right after I got my touch
Grinding is a huge part of roguelikes. The main reason being that you only one life... Do you really want to risk another level without knowing you are as tough as possible?
Thanks, now I am going to HAVE to get it Just a couple of questions: -are there multiple weapons? -what kind of spell system does this use, Magic points or just finding scrolls? -how does this compare to POWDER? (my favorite roguelike on PC) -what makes it so addicting?
If you like POWDER, then you'll love this. It's not as deep with items, but it's still got that simply monster-killing/dungeon-crawling feel. There are plenty of traps, and the odds are pretty much always against you. The spells are just scrolls, unlike POWDER, scrolls and wands are already identified. Simply select your scroll and use from inventory. I put so many hours into POWDER on DS.
You can play your own music! TIP: To play your own music in the Sword of Fargoal 1.1 update just crank up your iPod tunes and then launch the game! All the rest is automatic! Jeff
UGH, I thought I had enough to buy this but only have $5.18, I forgot about stupid taxes... EDIT: just watched a video and I am glad you guys used swipe to move, makes me want the game even more now.
Not sure if this has been asked before but I've just noticed an option on the settings screen "Max Performance". Now, to be honest I'm not sure if that was there before - I was too keen on slaying as many evil-doers as possible and didn't even consider settings. So, can anyone shed light on this option?
1. Awesome, thanks for that! 2. The update is fantastic... the corpse-in-a-box is classic. The vaults, new traps, increased difficulty, shields, new dungeons, WANDS, amulets!!!... everything is stellar. Even the little things like the tutorial, auto sword enchanting, even the secret doors are all well done. Thanks guys for all the hard work... you could have easily made this update a sequel. 3. If you guys really do T-Shirts, I wanna pre-order 4. I dunno if this is some feature or a bug... but figured I'd report it. My first playthrough I attempted to to descend from level three to four... and ended up beneath the 3rd level Temple! Now it said that I hit my head on stone, and I assumed it must be part of the new fun. I returned under the floor to the stairs, found my way back topside and found another way down to 4. That's when I realized my mini map had been turned off (had to re-select it under settings) and when it reappeared, it still displayed the level 3 map for about a minute before switching to level 4... and then I got my arse delivered to me while I wasn't paying enough attention to the pain being delivered on my guy by a troll. Okay, death part wasn't bug related, but the rest was just weird enough I figured I'd share. Enough for now, my Heroine is back on 4, and just found what I can only describe as a Scale-lined map....
Same issue here. On a different note, one thing I that slightly disappoints me about this update is that there are still no in-game details of what the different spells do, or maybe even some detail about the different weapon types. I was initially excited to see a tutorial, but then found myself bummed the tutorial was so short and lacking detail. Other than that, the new update is indeed sweet! But, it'd be good to have some more detail about things in-game.
Just downloaded the update and played some rounda in legend mode. Wow So far, everything is great and I feel the inner excitement of having a totally new game and it's more awesome than before. But also I am having the issue with te flashing screen before a stair animation, and the sound is missing in my game. Just the music is running (which is now more complex - LOVE it). So far, will now reboot my device and report again. And then I think, I will spend way too many ours searching for a little sword. Damn, how to explain my girlfriend!?
Played the update a bit more now so I can provide more feedback. When using stairs with sound on the screen flickers like mad every time which wasn't there before the update. I've been attacked by a weak rat a couple of times that was invisible which seems rather cheap. Is it meant to be like that? Is it just me or have the number of stairs been reduced? Can't work out what the grills in the floor are supposed to be other than decoration.
Ha, everyone is silent from either playing or sleeping. Well, tis a fun & tricksy update (nice tweak of the secret doors > < ). Version 1.0 made me complacent; the beasties are much feistier now. Back to learning the hard way! The variety in everything seems awesome so far.. need to dying to suss out the rest. Enjoy a break from the code Team Fargoal! m(_ _)m
