I cannot think of a single person who has bought an app "on the basis that an update would be free.". Does this mean that without the promise of free and substantial updates you would never have bought the app in the first place? That is some kid of weird thinking, man. And you are entitled to nothing more than the hundreds of hours of fun you've already enjoyed playing this delicious game. So, please put hit "principle" in your back pocket and chill.
Amen, Doffie. Yes quite seriously... if you don't feel your paltry purchase has been (and will continue to be) worthwhile, then just go get a refund and be done with it. And thus, I can be done with you. But really... let's just all be friends! \o/
Hard to believe anyone is complaining about paying for a new Fargoal. I certainly don't expect anyone to work for free and will be buying Fargoal 2 as soon as it comes out. Already bought both versions of the original, and to expect the next one to be free is ludicrous. Kinda like thinking because you bought the first Call of Duty, that now your entitled to all the sequels for free. If devs don't make any money, what's the point in making games. Sure they enjoy doing it but that doesn't pay the bills...
Actually, I did buy Legends based on the idea that SoF would become SoF 2 and I wanted to keep a "classic" version of the game. I don't have an iPad and have no plans to get one anytime in the future. I'm not angry at Madgarden or anything though and I will definitely be getting SoF 2 when it comes out. I guess it doesn't surprise me that some people are upset, since there are always people getting upset here for minor things and they might see it as an issue of dishonesty. I don't see it that way; I realize that things change and I seriously doubt Madgarden was trying to con me out of a few dollars or whatever. If SoF 2 had been a free update I probably would've spent lots of money on IAPs (I tend to be a completist when it comes to those things) but now I am 50/50 on whether or not I will buy any IAPs. I guess I will wait to see what they are and how they work, as well as what price the app debuts at. Anyway, it goes without saying that I am seriously looking forward to Fargoal 2 and hopefully people can go without roasting each other in this thread because it was one of the more friendly and fun to read game threads on this site until recently.
Grin. Absolutely, all friends. Think I just got miffed at seeing someone beating up on my fave indie dev. Although god know he is perfectly capable of defending himself with zaps, with humor, and with the partnership of a way-cool wife.
Debate less, publish more. I have no major problem paying a reasonable fee (even for a game I've already bought twice - mainly on the premise I wanted to keep a classic version around - and that was promised as a free update) but it would be nice to be able to play it rather than read about it. ) Work man! Work! Seriously, any eta?
No, but check this out (working on streamlining of in-game UI): On the left side, it lists your ranged attacks if you have selected a target. That will likely be grouped further if you have multiple options for a type of attack (shoot, hurl, zap). On the right side are your current local actions. This way there won't be any confusion and mix-up with accidentally throwing a knife when you meant to pick something up, open something, etc. but still have a target selected. Below there, on the lower left is the minimap. If you click that, it will open a larger version. Working on making it so if you click a location in the larger map view, the character will run to that spot. Lower right is the "sack" icon which currently brings up the item view. From the item view (and map view) is that common tabbed view I posted earlier, so you can switch to any of the other stats etc. tabs from there. And... here's the really nice thing about this. Check it out, with no actions to do, the screen is clean as a whistle. Compare that to 1.x where there was always a "MENU" button and a "SNEAK" button present: Howzat lookin'?
looks great man! can't wait. the thing you gotta remember is that no matter what u do, somebody is gonna complain. keep up the good work and you'll never need to worry about others opinions, they'll buy your game, because it is awesome.
1. If you make 10 dollars an hour at your job you probably just wasted more $ worth of time bitching than the cost of the app. 2. Kickstarter is for Americans. edit: 3. You'd rather he ask for other people to pay for his work than you, so you're not exactly a customer any more. So my dog poops on your opening statement. My big dog, even. The little one has poop that you'd hardly notice.
Howzat looking? Like a really beautiful and, more than that, thoughtful design. Can't wait! Well, I _will_ wait, obviously, but I'm eager as hell to play this game.
If Fargoal 2 gets released as a separate app, I'll buy it. I bought Fargoal first, and then Fargoal Legends a few months ago to be ready for the former to become Fargoal 2, but a few bucks isn't a big deal. I'm not an iPad owner, so I'd just delete Legends and write it off as a dev tip of sorts.
I love you too, doll! This is the first time I have seen the clean screen for F2. I've heard talk of its existence, but to see it now...wow. Lovely. Nice choice husband.
