super sad I apologize in advance, but somebody has to say something: This whole story seems to turn out to be the worst joke of the last 12 month. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like that the last significant update of Fargoal is now 1.5 YEARS ago (25th of March 2010) and since then we have seen only empty announcements. Seriously, if I would look into the mirror and had to say 'Margarden, now its the third time that your 'pretty sure, that I will make it until then'-announcements did not work out at all. It looks like, either I cannot stop to add thing from inside my head into the code and should ask me some serious questions why, or its in general to much to program and I should hire another programmer, or its just a giant hoax.', I would think about, if not even the happiest fan base of an app can get pissed off some day because of feeling being fooled. Plastic Student: A: Sword of Fargoal is an excellent game as is. Its already finished and fine, so I'm not sure what you're expecting here. B: The update that is being created is going to be free (the iphone version, with some IAP) for those who already have the game, so really, bitching about how its not here yet just makes u sound like a turd. C: The poor guy is doing this shit in the basement, by himself. Its a work of love, his own personal labor to make the game he wants. In other words, Sword of Fargoal is already the best rogue-like on the app store, anything else is just an awesome bonus. And Yes, i am certainly waiting for the update, and as long as it takes is as long as it takes. It's not like you can't find some other distractions on the app-store to tide you over till its finished. What's the rush? Madgarden: Keep it up, I got this game for free a long long time ago, and im looking forward to the update to toss some money your way.
What else are you going to do? Its not released, so you wait until it is, period. If at that time you dont want to play anymore, that is your choice. Fargoal is undergoing a major overhaul, not just an update. The game itself took a while to be made, and now essentially they are changing every aspect of the game. Not only is it just for the iPhone/iPod, but they also need to make it in the native resolution for the iPad too. They have a small team trying to make sure whats released is a good as it possibly can be. Its not like they havent been vocal about progress through out the whole ordeal. You just need to sit back and chill, when its released, its released.
It's not like they're just adding Gamecenter support and an iOS tweak. Good things come to those who wait. They've got huge expectations to meet with Fargoal 2, an uphill battle with any sequel. Can't afford to be sloppy.
I think the game is already fantastic and I'm happy to wait for the update since i have no idea how hard it must be to write lines of code and program a game, I imagine it's not easy though and even if the update never came it's still totally worth buying anyway. I haven't been waiting that long anyway as I only just bought this a couple of months ago.
@ first replier: thx 4 trolling @ all: yes, fargoal is fine, but as every fine game, it catches dust at some point. The mindful reader would have realized that my entry was not about, that I want to cry like a little baby, about that I do not have Fargoal 2.0 in my hand right now, but it was about a zero information policy about the progress and the resulting zero forum activity and zero fargoal aliveness. And you missed the other point, too: the old controversy between regular small versus big but once in a lifetime updates. It is just my opinion, but if you'd ask me, if I'd like to get the new fargoal with mine craft-like crafting but have to wait until the year 2525, I would say 'nope'.
Are you serious? I mean really? Obviously, english aint your strong point, but I'll make this really clear. Madgarden is one of the more active developers on the forum. If you ask him for a status update, he will give u one. He has provided screen shots, one from earlier this month, showing new changes and new things he is adding to the game. What do you mean zero information policy? Either you are daft, trolling, or just retarded. There is a reason most people thought you were whining like a little baby, because everything u said was full of crap to anyone who had been paying attention for more than five minutes. And this controversy between big and small updates. Umm, wtf? There is no controversy, this game doesnt need any small updates, and the developer had made it crystal clear that he was pretty much redoing the game and adding classes, new graphics, and a whole ton of stuff. So whatever controversy you are talking about only exists within that vacuum between your ears. And I wont bother apologizing for my tone, yer daft and unrepentant and dont deserve the shit stain on my shoes.

I know I have said it before but it deserves repeating: BEST FANS EVER. Thanks guys. Madgarden is working his arse off over here. It's nice to see that most of you appreciate it. Madgarden posts more on twitter these days about his daily happenings in the game because it's easier/quicker than going into the forums. You can follow him there @madgarden if you like. Now, I take issue with the "zero info policy". I monitor all the SoF threads, emails, ect. personally. Rarely has 24hrs gone by that a thread or email isn't answered by myself or Madgarden personally. We've always been upfront with info. so, if you want to know what's going on just ask and ye shall receive! Admittedly our best guesses at possible release dates has been very ambitious, but really, would you rather us keeping shrugging and saying "we dunno" when asked about a release date? Or would you like us to give a guess? We are not a Corp. here that abides by a strict ship date, broken product be damned! We will not release broken, buggy half arsed crap. You're going to get the game that WE want to play and that WE are proud of, when it's finished and not a moment before. So, fans, I have to ask one thing. Can we please not do any name calling to those who come into the threads and toss around their unfounded opinions? They have a right to those opinions and if they don't want to wait for the update release, that's their prerogative (and their loss, if I do say so). I take great pride in the intelligent, humorous, and thoughtful fans we have and how awesome this thread is because of that. So lets try to keep it that way, and thanks for having our backs!
