This sale caught me at the right time. Just finished Rimelands (enjoyed it), tried to get into Chaos Rings again (can't), so I had to go for this. Bought!

so fuc**ng damn good game.. i'm lovin it..

    BEST ROGUE LIKE GAME EVER!!

    only few things..

1- if possible add an ''on-tap appear floating d-pad, could be nice

2- it's possible to see the skill's and item proprieties/instruction? How much def a shield give me, what a specific wand do?!?

3- how i can see the monster level? if possible.. or enemy description, something like this could be a funny add-on

4- what ''skill'' level do? when i create a char, i have to roll dice, healt ok, but skill? is the strenght?

5- the only use of the gold is for exp or I can buy something?

6- coul be funny also an extra-xp for complete discover an entire floor.. like in inal Fantasy 4 doungeon.. it's an incentive to explore. and i love exploring in this game.. :D

Just picked this one up at the sale price. Now that's a bargain!
I've already got the iPad version and have been loving it for ages but I've wanted to get this version for a little bit now to get ready for the new version. Maybe with the new equipment I'll finally be able to get that sword.

We may be adding some of this stuff (where it fits), if not in 2.0 then in the following updates.

The monsters show their skill in the description already, to some degree. Weak, Powerful, Terrifying etc.

"Skill" is your battle skill... increase it to do better in combat.

Gold is currently only for sacrifice, yes.

Fargoal 2.0 will have GC support so there will be different achievements if you're into that sort of thing. :)

First of all, I just wanted to introduce myself.

I've been skulking your thread for the past few days which I found after I started playing SOF & I've damn near read every post aside from some of Mindfield's insane character journals. ;) Anyway, the game is incredible and am absolutely frothing at the mouth for 2.0, though I've come nowhere near lvl 20.

The main reason of my post was just to confirm something about discovering secret walls, so here goes. (keep in mind that our wonderfully sadistic friend and DM Madgarden already mentioned this so it's more of a confirmation/further clarification) Basically as far as I can tell, there is a subtle color difference in the secret doors which your natural character glow gives away if you get close up to one of them and here's why: because it's light doesn't cast a shadow on it, which is untrue for normal walls. I discovered that the best way to see this in effect is to zoom almost all the way out. TRY IT! also, I would live for Mr. Or The lovely Mrs. Garden to confirm or deny my added findings. Keep up the ****ig amazing work Paul, Jeff, & Rachel!

    Hey again guys,

While I'm at it I guess it wouldn't hurt to throw in my 2cents idea wise:

    1. Cursed items or equipment. You and I both know that other roguelikes have cursed items that weld themselves to your hero but I bet you could think of a far better way to do it. (affect stats or your combat effectiveness or mobility. Maybe since you are adding enchanted equipment, you could have cursed enchanted eq that had pros and cons? Let me know what you think!

Hey DisconnectD, glad you're enjoying it! And yes, you have your finger on the secret of the secret door... it's the lighting.

As for cursed items, yeah I think the whole "welding" thing is silly, and cheap. Maybe for armour it might make sense, but as you say there are better ways to do things like that. The One Ring from the LOTR trilogy is a perfect example of a great cursed item. As for cursed items in 2.0, we'll see how it goes.

Nevermind. Madgarden beat me too it again. :p

ETA: I just have to say one thing. I don't deserve any props on the awesomeness of said game. Paul, Jeff, and Elias are who you want to thank.

Which further confirms that Elias has to come into these threads more because I don't think people even believe he exists! :)

Are enchants completely random, or are you more likely to find them in secret doors further down you go? I ask this because at about lvl 11 floor 10 I had a grand total of 3 of them which seems low. I figure I must have just gotten a bad roll. I noticed you hinted at them being found mostly in special places so I assumed you meant secret doors & I'd seriously been averaging like 2-4 secret rooms per lvl and sometimes more.

(Small note for all the fellow treasure hunters: I saw one of you guys post on here saying that most of the time you'll find 1 maybe 2 per lvl but I challenge you to look harder because more than you would think, you can find 2 on the same map! A lot of the time close to each other too. Oh and to add to the tips about locating these elusive treats: something that seems to work for me is to try and memorize the dimensions of the dungeon map you are in and if it looks too short or too narrow though you've mapped it all out, check the corners or top and bottom, because there is bound to be a secret to fill said map out to the correct dimensions.

Something tells me that'll go right out the window for 2.0 though ;P (and let me tell you, I couldn't be more ecstatic about that.) So anyway, enjoy while you can! Let me know guys, if you have any extra success.

Glad to hear that you're considering cursed items. It would be just another way for you to instill fear into hero and your loyal followers, hah. Armor makes sense within the context of the game. Weapons too, actually. You could do some fun stuff with that.

Ie: hero equips a scimitar and is delighted to find that it eviscerates anything and everything but recoils in horror as he realizes everytime he swings it, it sucks away at his life-force! Etc. :D

Hey Madgarden, while we're on the subject, any chance of you wanting to spill some more juicy beans or bacon on what new items or e.q to expect in 2.0 (enchanted or otherwise ;p) Or perhaps more insight about enemy a.i, orrrrr what about a tidbit about those placeholders like braziers or tables, barrels or cisterns, etc. The crystals must have some nefarious purpose planned. Anti magic crystals perhaps, haha, so evil!

P.S: Just like a woman to not take a compliment ;) No, really, you shouldn't downplay your involvement. Judging by your posts, you've offered huge moral support, not to mention all the play testing and your critiques, so yeah! Take the compliment or else! :p

If by that you mean "is this game as bad-ass as it looks" then YES! Most undoubtably, sir. Get it right now, as the legion of fans that have had nothing but the utmost positive things to say about it can't all be wrong, am I rite guyz?

I love/hate your guts Madgarden... I can't for the life of me get past floor 9, haha, I keep running into somehow out of depth monsters and humanoids, like for some reason a swordsman just murdered me on floor 7 but he hit me way harder than a humanoid on that lvl, so he had to have snuck up from below. He was t even skilled either :/ tough call when to fight and when to run sometimes.

I think the biggest problem is how OCD I am about mapping and finding those secret passageways, lol, it's a bit sad really. One day I'll have a game where it all works out Perfectly and I hoard all the artifacts and make it to that damn sword... now on the return trip... well, I guess we'll see :D
