bluewomble88, did you fall into a pit and then climb back up (EDIT: beaten by DaveS)? That would be your deepest descent. Also... the humans aren't as stupid as the monsters when it comes to pits.
Yeah but he was standing over a huge hole in the floor which doesn't look right. If he had come round the hole it would make a bit more sense. I know it's a small thing but I thought I'd let you know.
Argh, got down to floor 18 after investigating absolutely everything, then entered one large room and got completely pwned! hit by three fire drakes fire blast and a mage simultaneously pretty much. Died on the spot! With most games this would have made me put it away for a bit, but i'm straight back in down to level 12! I noticed that similar to the miscounting of healing potions bug I saw earlier once (but never since!) I was opening chests in one of the green crypt floors, when i ran out of lockpicks, but the message i got was 'lockpick breaks!' then 'you have 27 lockpicks left'.... which unfortunately wasn't true. Just thought i'd surface to report that, now, back to the dungeon!
Yeah, there's a counting bug with the lockpicks, too. It doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason. It'll tell me I have 5 left after one breaks (when I have more than that), then zero, or an accurate number, or higher if it happens again. Kind of odd, but no big deal. The update is going to be very interesting -- particularly starting a new game. It's going to be interesting to see how everyone fares on 1.1 -- including me.
The counting bug has been fixed up, as well as some other minor issues such as broken sprites (if anyone noticed). It'll definitely be a good idea to start over with the update, so that your dungeon is properly constructed with the new areas and items.
I'm awesome Just beat Fargoal for the first time. Coming back up was easy, just took all the ropes from my falls down, got up in about 60 seconds Playing game after game of Rogue Touch must've helped
Hello Vovin, et al, Fargoholics Anonymous is finally here! We have our "Sword of Fargoal" forum pages set up now if you would care to join us: http://forums.fargoal.com/ Included so far are the threads: Player's Tips and Comments Feature Requests & Suggestions Fargoholics Anonymous Please Click to Join In that third thread, we suggest that you start out by saying, "Hello, my name is [name or alias], and I am a Fargoholic" This TouchArcade thread is fantastic, and we (Paul and I) will continue to be very active on it, so please don't feel as though there needs to be a complete exodus away from it. However, if you feel so-inclind, we invite you to come and also join us over at the "Sword of Fargoal" forums on our own website for more Fargoal-specific discussions! Thanks again, Jeff McCord
Yes, I've already fixed this loophole for the next update. The original was never so easy! The updates won't be unreasonably hard, just more fun and adventure.
Download PC Version I'm hoping this is legit - in case you were interested in downloading the older PC remake, I found it here: http://aslimeappears.blogspot.com/2007/08/download-of-week-sword-of-fargoal-pc.html
missalexis, that's totally legit. That's the original remake that Elias and I made back in 2003. Download away, and have fun! It's not nearly as polished as the iPhone remake, but it's still Fargoal.
Awesome. Thank you for posting this. I'm downloading right now What are the odds something like a "retro" tile set, or any alternate tile sets for that matter, could be added into the game? Not that I don't love how it looks now, because I absolutely do, but I think new skins are always fun
Really enjoying this thread I have to say. Any idea when the new update is due? I don't really want to continue with my current save if I'll need to start over to enjoy new stuff.
Featured in What's Hot starting today! Congrats to Fargoal and Madgarden.... Sword of Fargoal is now being featured by Apple in the "What's Hot!" section in iTunes and "Hot New Games" on the iPhone itself! Hope that helps you get the recognition (and sales) you deserve
Well of course it's featured. I'd lose all faith in Apple if it wasn't. Congrats you two though, I hope this gives you a significant boon. The game surely deserves it, and that would just be more incentive to keep making it more awesome. As for the update, I don't think it's been submitted yet, so count on at least another week for you to enjoy your current game. And remember that you can keep playing it after the update (and maintain it as a saved game), you just won't get the new stuff with the old saved games.
For the iPhone version? Yes, we plan to add some retro/alternate themes to be available as DLC. The 2003 remake has some alternate themes already that you can switch between. Still working on it! I will try to have it ready to submit by the end of the week. There are a few bugs taken care of mad, and now I'm cramming in as much new stuff and refinements to gameplay as I can. It's featured? Cool! It's not featured in the Canadian store, so I didn't know. Thanks! EDIT: I don't see it in the US store either. Where did you see it? Right... you won't get the new generated dungeon features, but anything that isn't part of the dungeon itself that is new will show up, like monsters and updated behaviours.
It's definitely there in the USA. iTunes 9 -> App Store -> Games -> What's Hot section... On the iPhone, go App Store -> Featured -> What's Hot -> Hot New Games banner...
Found it! Thanks Kevin, Sometimes hard to navigate to the specific menus within "Games" on the iTunes store, but sure enough it is there. Found it in the US and in Canada so far. Cheers! Jeff McCord
Surprised there aren't more reviews on the app store for this. Still really enjoying this game, taking my sweet time, I want that sword! Any idea when you can release a list of what is being implemented for the update? I know I know, I am very impatient
