I think I have done that about 3 times already in this thread, heh. But basically... total dungeon overhaul, new characters as DLC, more items and artifacts and secrets. And more monsters, of course.
Game Impressions Finally I got the sword and escaped the dungeon on Hero mode great great game. Hard but do-able if you work it right and have alittle luck. Thank you Wazz
Suggestion for 2.0 Ok so I am still feeling pretty full of myself after winning for the first time and I got to thinking ... When someone wins in hero mode, how about some fireworks at the end or something. And a win in legend mode should have the music from the 1812 overeture??
Not that I have had any problems with anything you have implemented in this game. But if you implement an IAP resurrection spell I would hope that this is a one time purchase not a purchase every time you want to 'rez' a character. If the later were the case I would almost prefer that the option not be given at all. I suppose though I always have the option of not buying it
I wouldn't mind if it was a one time use purchase (but that could be because I'll never use it) What I wouldn't want to see is dying and getting a pop up with "Would you like to resurrect for $.99?". Glu added that to World Series of Poker and I am still angry about it. I'd rather it be an item you buy BEFORE you enter the dungeon. Even in a land of goblins and trolls, you can't buy things after you're dead. Buying a scroll beforehand is just coming prepared which makes more sense to me
I agree with the points made about a resurrection spell. It should be something you purchase in advance of needing it. If you don't have it when you take a critical hit, it is too late to get it.
Well there is the end video... did you see that? And sure, I am alway happy to add more sound effects and particles. We'll see what can be done for 2.0... It will likely be an IAP that you can use to resurrect an already-dead character. It won't nag you. Think of it like priests resurrecting a lost hero through magic or sacrifice. This character wouldn't be eligible for leaderboards anymore, but since some people get attached to their doods it's nice to have the option. We're still figuring it out, mostly.
Congrat, wazz! Hero mode ain't exactly a piece of cake, as so many things can go wrong and it's not hard to lose concentration and screw it up (as I know from experience). Good luck with the killer mode.
Well I did lose the sword 3 times after getting it from level 20 and I was sure I was toast on the last loss. In fact I left the game a few times just to savor the fact I had the sword but was sure I would lose in the end. And as I was moving up from 7 to 6 and then to 5 ... had the attention of my family and I kept announcing when I reach another level up and when I finally made it out I had everyone's attention. Lol. It was great fun. Now I have tried legend again and I can't make it off lvl 1 lol lol lol. But I am not deterred.
I did the same thing the times I got the sword. Made excited announcements. My hubby was certain I was losing my mind. And who's to say he was wrong?
Absolutely, Jack. Fargoal-induced psychosis, not listed in the latest DSM yet but it could be if the madgardenman gets even more out of control. As he promises to do. Hoodamnray!

I really like this. One thing I've discovered in Legend is that I was super careful in the first few levels because I'd occasionally run into Experienced Assassins (and promptly run like hell). As I ventured further down, the difficulty of the monsters seemed to level off. I can see why that happens, as beasties start getting distance attacks - getting one-shotted from the fog would seem horribly unfair and bad. However, there's something fun about some levels having a baddie that you just have to work around, because you know you can't beat them, and even if you ran away, they're still out there and you never know when you might run smack right into them because they're constantly wandering around. (A Warlord using a Shield spell. *Shudder*.) So, glad you're doing that. Legend should keep you on your toes the whole way through. -- Story time - one of the most fun situations I got into was getting trapped by a monster that was totally out of my league. I was in Level 4 on Legend. I was in a looooong hallway (full height of the map + 1/3 of the width) to a very small dead end room. I looted stuff and went to leave, but discovered three monsters had wandered in to the hallway, and I had no Teleports. I was trapped. The first one or two (IIRC an Inferior Barbarian and a Gargoyle) went down quickly enough, but the third, a full-bore Strong Wyvern, didn't. Three hits from it and I was in single digit health. I ran. I had few scrolls or potions; it was a lean game so far. I begin hit-and-run tactics. First, cast my only two Regens on myself, and waited until I was back at full health. Then, I ran right up next to it and cast my only Light scroll (stunning it), drank my Agility and Strength potions, and attacked. I was out of all magic. This was it. It would still kick the carp out of me quickly, but I'd get some hits, retreat, heal up, and come back for more. I always timed it so it never hit me with a breath weapon. I lost count of the skirmishes after eight or so. It was looking bad - if it backed me into the room, It would have been able to hit me with 1 or 2 breath weapons before I'd be able to get around it. No way I'd make that. I thought I was surely dead. I killed it in the last 4 squares of hallway before the tiny room. Less than ten seconds later, the potions gave out. I think that battle was more rewarding than winning the sword on Hero.
Update is out!!! (downloading right now and update my review!!!) Sword of Fargoal 1.7 - iPhone 4 (retina) display support - High-res game graphics for newer hardware (iPod gen3, iPhone 3GS) - Fixed a problem with background music - Fixed a problem with video flicker - Fixed an upside-down keyboard - Added some sound effects
Cool. In plenty of time for iPhone 4's arrival here on the 30th. I wonder how many more games will go retina in the meantime; there still really aren't that many. Well at least that means I'll make a point of playing this more and do better than before .
This is why I love this game so much. With most games, "war stories" are about the big final boss fight, and everyone's story is pretty much the same, with small details changed. With Fargoal, no one has the same story. The gods of Chaos keep everything so stirred up that one person is talking about getting trapped to death, one is executing Guerrilla warfare against a pair of dwarves, and one is desperately trapped by a Wyvern... I LOVE IT!
