akasnowmaaan, by 'cutting out' do you mean the music stops, and never comes back? And this is the game background music, not your own iPod music? As for the missing tunnel rubble, yeah known issue that happens sometimes. It shouldn't happen once I have the dungeon overhaul update done. VeganTnT, if you weren't such a spaz perhaps the iPod wouldn't flip around uncontrollably, hmm? Just a consideration. Spaz.
I take Offense! Perhaps it's some secret code to punish those that attempt to do anything other than play fargoal... Now come on... That sounds FAR more likely
Yes, the music stops and never comes back. Yes, it's game music, not iPod music. I'll do a restore to the phone and see if that fixes it. I have a few apps that are wonky (haha) that I'm not seeing chatter about, so it may just be my phone. If it persists, I'll file a real bug report on your site. Thanks!
Vroom! Have been reading a lot lately and not playing games. All at once, I got hit by Fargoal withdrawal symptoms. The cure was obvious. Also painless. I began a new game, this time on "baby" level, with the goal of just playing as fast as I can, careening around corners and through tunnels, making lightning fast decisions, tripping over nasty paving stones, who cares, and falling down holes. It's a whole lotta fun, makes me feel free and crazy. I like it. Do you think I'm weird? <---- Rhetorical.
There is a facebook update with a link to an article talking about a new update being available now and it's dated today. However, nothing shows up in itunes. Is there or isn't there? What's in it?
Yep, this. It's a bit unknowingly misleading in that article, sorry, we didn't write it. But I think what they are saying is now both updates are out, iPhone version has been out for a bit now as you know, but iPad version got held up due to issues outside our control. And now iPad was just released, hence the "both iPhone and iPad updates are now available" Sorry for any confusion. Paul is working on the big update but it will be a long while before its ready.
Madgarden, et al: Well I have played several games - never got the sword out, but I am not deterred!! But I have been thinking about ways in which this game could be improved from my humble perspective. I am a quantitative person. I like to know the stats. One of the things that I think would improve the basic game play for me is too know just how much of a dungeon level I have explored. For example: at times when I think I have explored all the separate dungeons of one level and I go down to another level, while I am exploring that next lower level I try to pop my head up all the up-stairs I see. Sometimes I find an upper dungeon above that I totally missed. I often wonder if I have missed other stuff as well, but I have no way of knowing. It would be nice to know that if I have completed 100 % of dungeon level 9 or is only 75% explored and I need to search further before going down. Don't know if that would be possible code wise or not. Another thought: not everyone is an anal as I am. They just want to jump in an explore and don't care about the numbers. Could there be a options choice in the home menu that allows you to turn on or off that calculation tracking. Sort of like turning on or off the background music or adjusting the volume. Something that would allow you to play the game your way. And I found that as I dived deeper into the dumgeons beyond level 20 - the bad guys didn't seem to get much tougher. They weren't that hard to beat. Yes, I am very much stronger than I was at the higher level dungeons, but it seems like once you get below level 20 - there should be more risk to you for going deeper. This game as it stands now (without any updates) is excellent. And I totally admire your desire to continue to improve it. I do thinking LeaderBoards are a great idea (although I don't think I will ever see Wazz on one LOL) and I am excited about the thought of new dungeon levels and maybe new bad guys - and anything else you throw in) but even without those improvements, this game is heads above most on the itunes store. I would even be interested in - ingame purchases - but since it is easy to get killed in this game, it would be nice if the in game purchases could be picked up by new characters when you are forced to start again. Thanks for all your hard work and for being an active participant on this thread. Wazz Level 25 Hero visiting Level 27 Dungeon - and anticipating a run for the sword in the next few days! Good Luck to me!!
Hi Wazz... we've had requests for stats a few times, so we will probably put some into the pause screen, so you can flip through a few different pages of stats and info. Giving the % completion of the dungeon is possible but, we'll have to discuss within the team whether or not we want to give the player this information as it is a bit of a cheat/spoiler. When 2.0 comes along, much of the current stuff will be overhauled, and balancing will be improved further. Expect to find a wider range between weak and tough monsters. Some monsters you simply will not want to go toe-to-toe with. The In-App Purchases are going to be new characters/classes, so of course you will be able to re-use those between games. And also, since some people grow so attached to their character, we will have an IAP for a resurrection spell. Down the road, we will also be adding alternate themes/skins as IAP as well. Good luck!
It all sounds great. And I understand if the percent complete for dungeon levels is not part of an update. I personally like to know that I have completed everything leaving no stone unturned before moving on but it is not critical to my enjoyment of the game. Probably it is a growth opportunity for me in letting go of control (lol, lol, lol), but I can't help always looking back to see if I "did it all". I look forward to the next update.
Maybe there is a chance for an artifact that puts a symbol next to the map if you complete it 100% That way you know you're done but it doesn't give a percentage which you could use to figure out if there are secret rooms left.
Yeah, I'm fine with doing it if it can be woven into the story in a reasonable fashion. But also, with the way the new dungeons will be in 2.0, generation is going to vary wildly, and there will be lots of secrets to find. We've been planning to expand the temple behaviour, perhaps it can give you some extra insight.
I like it too. It gives more info but keeps some unknowns. I am sure this questioned can't be answered yet but I'll ask anyway ... Any Idea when 2.0 will be released?
Well, I am just wrapping up the 1.7 update which is mainly some fixes and iPhone 4 support. Then I will be working on 2.0 steadily. It will probably take me a couple of months.
