It's the equivalent of the old AD&D spell Featherfall. Cast it and you'll take no damage from your fall (or any others you might have in the next little bit of time). It isn't really full levitation, it just gently applies brakes to your fall.
Well, that was my second choice, but I was hoping it wasn't that. Problem is I can't find the assassin that stole it from me. I had presumed that if you changed floors (usually unintentionally through a pit trap) whomever stole the sword from you would be there waiting, but that doesn't appear to be the case. But then again I fell down to floor 23, so maybe he doesn't go past 20. Bah. I've already started a new character anyway and have managed to get a nice start going, so we'll see how that works out. I'm going to be a little smarter about my escape plan this time. The good thing about taking your time and exploring every nook and cranny is that you spend more time on levels, and therefore with enemies at the same level before moving on, so you get more experience, more levels, and if you're paying attention for all the secret areas, probably more spells -- particularly enchant spells. That makes it easier to move on to the next floor, and also less likely to die. That's been my strategy anyway, and it's been working quite well.
That's what i ended up doing as well...i spent the 100 minutes between floor 20 and 27 and must have knocked out half the worlds mage population...Think i thoroughly searched 20 so pretty sure he did go down...but no luck finding him....Didn't encounter such problems on my 2nd attempt and got out with the sword quite easily... Good luck on your next run....
Loving this game but I do agree some new additions would be welcome. A list of what all items do would be helpful and the introduction of some new spells and items in general. Maybe some chests could be locked and you need a key to open them ..... Just a thought.
@Madgarden and Fargoal, How about a shortcut righthand quickie link to healing in the midst of combat (in addition to the Teleport or Shield)? No need for Restoration there as to use it any point before death would be a waste. I mean if the baddies I'm fighting can take a "potion break" at any point in combat, why can't I?
You can, you just need to open your pack and select the healing potion. I do think that maybe when in a battle, the smart button could expand to several buttons along the top for the most common and useful things within that context: Shield, healing, and teleport. There's no need for a restoration button as you use those automatically if you hit 0 hit points anyway, as long as you have one in your pack. In fact, the expansion of the smart button into two or three buttons when necessary could solve one other (though relatively rare) situation: If there's an active trap sitting next to a sprung pit trap, you can't disarm it because the smart button always chooses "cross pit" whenever you're next to one; no "disarm trap" option. Similarly, if there are stairs next to a trap, you can't choose "sneak" when on top of the stairs in order to cross the trap safely. Again, this is not a common situation, but it does happen.
Yeah, I know you can heal in battle, but it would be nice to have it right there on hand and not have to search for it. If we want to even get advanced here, it might be nice to put a micro number in the corner letting us know how many of that option are still in my pack. If I knew this was my last Teleport or Drift spell I'd probably be a lot more hesitant to pull the trigger.
Mindfield, you can find the assassin again. He does exist in the map... the Sword thief never disappears. There are ways to make an assassin more visible. etc. And if the sword run time runs out... it is very cool! So don't just give up your game. The sword timer is not in seconds, it is in steps... so it actually averages out to longer than 33 minutes, as each step (at normal movement speed) is approximately 1/3 of a second. All of the game's times uses step time, unlike the original game. Man... I can't *wait* for the next mini-update. You guys thought there was cool stuff to explore now! The variety is going to multiply over the next few updates, starting with the one I'll have ready this week.
The guys behind this game are scary fanatics, not just releasing a game they hope to make a few bucks from but making the ultimate little dungeon crawler they themselves would want to play even if it means countless updates before they can really call it done (not that it isn't complete now, but things can always be added and tweaked). I think the toughest part they're having now is trying to make a game that is both accessible to newbies to the genre while still keeping us masochistic fanatics happy as well. I can't wait to see how this all unfolds!
I love how i can just open this up, make a lil progess and quit and it auto-saves. PERFECT for on-the-go gaming. Very decent startup times. Has there been any mention about maybe having a black fog? just wondering...
To the devs: can't wait to see what the updates have in store, actually very excited about an iphone game - what is wrong with me!? However, is there ANY chance you can publish a full list of items/spells with their effects online somewhere?? Pretty please?? I just found a magic sack and no clue what to do with it!
Thanks Jorlen... I try. onewithchaos, we will discuss the possibility of black fog. It's easy to do, but it has to mesh well with the style of the levels, etc. Is there a problem with the grey fog on your device? bluewomble88, we will likely be adding such content to our website as we make progress, and we are also planning to start up forums, which would be the perfect place to get into that sort of stuff.
Hearing about all those teases for the update, makes me want it even more! This is really one of the best games on the iTunes store! And it seems, it´s only getting better!
bluewomble88 - i can recommend checking out the original for hints: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sword_of_Fargoal - i think lots have been carried over. The beacon/teleport combo for instance can be very useful!
Great Game Having lots of fun with this game! Especially when you step on a mushroom and you find yourself teleporting all over the map on around floor 18, running around crazy until you run right into a shadow dragon!
Might have found a couple of bugs on the game worth looking at... 1/ On the pause screen it says "Deepest descent, 8" which isn't the case as I've only kept to the first 3 levels. 2/ I lured one of the evil ones over a hole in the floor but he did not fall through. Seems silly. Hope this helps.
Are you sure you didn't fall through a pit trap down to level 8 and then climb back up the rope? I have noticed that dropping through a pit will affect your "deepest descent" number.
