27. The sword is on 20, but if you're up for a bit of sport you can keep diving for a bit for the extra experience. I'm told there's a strip club down on the lowest level full of sexy, scantily clad elves. But as was said, from level 2 on, you'll often find holes in walls that lead to entirely new sections of dungeon on the same floor, often an additional 2-3 dungeons per level -- if you can find them, so if you take those into account there are as many as 100+ dungeons to explore.
That's if you go in the back way. Ogres from 6-9, dark warriors/werecats after (you know, for the furry crowd).
You're both wrong. No strippers, male or female. Elvis is down there, saw him with my own lyin' eyes.
Can someone explain to me how to use wands? I can't figure it out for the life of me. I switch to the wand and double tap but it only zooms out my map.
Darkness Descending My new hero, Fool Hardy4 (we won't discuss Fool Hardy 1, 2 and 3, right?) is still alive and well at Level 7 in Legend mode. I've never survived beyond Level 3 playing hardcore before now. It seems that the dark fog of the dungeons is _much_ greater in Legend mode. This is a true fact, right? And not an illusion or a fear reaction on my part
Double-tap zooms out the map, and double-tap-HOLD (i.e. keep your finger pressed down) will give you the wand aiming line. You can also touch and hold on the hero 'til it DINGs, then drag away from him. The dungeon is darker, yes, and the baddies are not visible around corners or behind walls either.
double tap and hold on the monster or thing that you want to zap. Or you can tap once and hold on your adventurer until you hear the sound and then drag your finger to the baddie to fire. You might want to go into the tutorial mode to try out which method works best for you, it has instructions in there. Hope that helps! eta: curses Madgarden. He answered you first!
I'm trying legend today. Wish me luck. And by luck I mean wish me a fairly painless death when it does occure. Preferably not by a gargoyle or a rat, the game just feels like its mocking me when that happens.
The legendary Fool Hardy4 got up to Level 10 last night before I went to sleep. When I want to relax a little bit, I return to Rachel1 who seems to be going strong now. Rachel Therapy, I call it.
Thank you both, that was a big help. Unfortunately my hero She-Ra had made it to Level 20 and the sword was within sight, when she was killed by a Minotaur
That minotaur ... he's a little cranky. Best way to deal with him is shield spell plus a few strength potions and a well-enchanted sword. Maybe cast light in his presence to startle him. That should turn that minotaur's frown upside-down ... as it flies through the air.
So I've finally put some time into this game. I'm only on level two and already I've found 3-4 staircases, "dangerous" holes in the ground and hidden passages. These dungeons are HUGE. Definately a fun game thus far. I do admit I'm pretty clueless on what I'm doing aside from just walking up and fighting enemies, which is pretty easy at this point. I do have a few questions. 1.) Apparently I maxed out with gold as its not letting me grab some gold I found. What do you do with gold? 2.) I did a tutorial a bit ago but it seems like I still don't know what I'm doing. Any tips on how to handle spells, shields etc..? I figure if I don't get my act together I'm going to get slaughtered on lower floors.
I finished the game a couple of days ago in normal difficulty. As suggested by some players, I thoroughly did every floor before descending to the next one. I fought every baddy that crossed my path... so my level was usually 2-3 numbers higher than the floor (e.g. level 15 at floor 12). At went down to floor 21 and reached level 21... With that strategy the game was no big challenge, because of the high character level and loads of weapon enchant spells. The minotaur was extremely easy... BUT still, I had a lot of fun... so i think, I have to try Legendary now
1.) Try to find a temple on the level you're on, and take the gold there to sacrifice it for experience points. 2.) Well, it's the sort of thing that's best learned as you go, really. Just try stuff out and enjoy the journey!
As Madgarden said, sacrifice it at a temple. Every so often doing so will give you a blessing, which restores your health and restores your shield to new (if you have one). Sometimes it might even enchant your sword. Find magic sacks to increase the amount of gold you carry. Spells you just cast by picking them from the menu (top left). Shields you find either by killing creatures (they don't always drop one) or littering the ground. The basic shield is a barrel lit, which may be on the ground already, but you can pry one off a barrel to use. They're weak, only good for the first few dungeon levels. Beyond that the shields are mostly self-explanatory in terms of toughness; as Madgarden is so fond of saying, Wood < Leather < Metal. There are some specialty shields you can find too, which are tougher than normal shields (often a LOT tougher), and many have special properties. It also bears repeating the use of wands: Tap and hold on your character until he cries, "Ping!" or double-tap and hold. Then, draw a line from you to where you want the spell to be cast and let go. Note that, as you might expect, area of effect wands (like fireball) will effect you if you're within the blast radius. Wands of Opening are useful for opening trapped chests without taking damage or being effected by other chest traps. They can also open locked metal chests, just in case you have no lockpicks left. Note that you cannot escape from fights you didn't initiate. If an enemy picks on you, it's a fight to the death, so if you're going to fight and you're not confident in the outcome, make sure you make the first move so you can run away if you need to. Regular stairs go down one floor. Dangerous stars often go down further. Pit traps can take you down 2 or more levels; casting drift can prevent you from taking damage at the bottom, and improves your chances of climbing back up the rope (if there is one) to get back up without it snapping on you. Light spells can stun nearby enemies with its brilliant flash. Use that to your advantage, because you're not the only one in the dungeon that knows this. Restoration spells will be automatically quaffed if you drop below 0 hit points -- but only if you're not knocked too far below 0. Therefore don't rely on this feature to save your hide. Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for it makes them soggy and hard to light. Speaking of wizards, they don't have unlimited power. Pay attention to their staff. One orb is good. Two orbs is more good. Four legs good. Two legs baaaad. That should get you started.
So many of the same questions come up over and over in this thread. Doesn't it make you want to reconsider the in game help or tutorial? (To Madgarden, obviously.)
It certainly does, Calisto! We will spend some more quality time on the tutorial for the next big update.
Limit? Does either the game itself or just logic limit the number of strength potions one can drink at one time? (Also do they make you burp bigtime?) I drank 3 to fight the Minotaur. Seemed plenty. I fought the law and the law didn't win.
