I agree with this general strategy. If you just get hit by one or two darts, or by the bad breath of a Wyvern, the poison only lasts a short time and doesn't take away too many HP. In this particular instance, I must have been hit by a dozen or more darts in the span of a few seconds, so the effects lasted longer and were much more draining on my HP.
I guess a few other tips for the trapped vaults.. have a shield.. even a barrel lid. it will block some of the darts. Not all the tiles are trapped.. you can find a path through them that will not require you getting shot every step of the way. may not help on the way in but on the way out, if you were darted by one tile, step on the one next to it instead and you should get hit much less. Since the dartless tiles are still traps.. I, don't think detect traps will help you. I know you cannot sneak over them
Thanks for the added tips. I was shieldless at the time. I try to be patient when I come to areas I have never seen before (like the big vault area), but my guy was so excited that he just wanted to get there as quickly as possible and almost died as a result.
Every time I see a Poison Dart Trap area, I simply pop a Shield spell, run in, search the rubble (WHAT!!!! EMPTY AGAIN??? GAHHHH!!!) and run right back out.
Madgarden, any further news on the status of the latest update? Not that I am trying to rush you. I can't wait to buy the Ipad version of this when my Ipad comes in from the Apple store next week. It will be the first application I buy for my new Ipad, as a show of support for the developers, even if some people might think the Ipad version isn't a necessary purchase.
Hey cprloe, we're doing some final testing and tweaking, and hoping to submit tonight. If not tonight, then tomorrow for certain. So with any luck we'll see the update go live this week. As for the iPad version, we're updating that too and it has some nicer slick graphics anyway. For the next big update we'll add more iPad specific stuff, like an iPad-specific HUD layout etc.
This is one of those games that makes you delete all your oter ones because they suck compared to it. I only have this, pocket tanks, and popcap games left on my iPod. Fargoal hold #1 slot.
I thought it was a necessary purchase and I bought it the moment my iPad and iTunes finished shaking hands. WE know how to define "necessity" huh? Yeah.
You were INVESTING IN THE FUTURE as this title WILL have a slick and snazzy iPad optimized UI in the near future.
Yeah, but in those spiral poison traps it could get really annoying hearing that a couple dozen times...
I've started using the DT spells so I can see the traps and just avoid them. Though there usually is ONE that you can't avoid. Find that it works great.
Right, investing in the future. If I try that on with my hubby, do you think he'll buy it? Rhetorical question, of course.
Compare & Contrast Oops, sorry re that header, ut once a teacher... Playing Fargoal on both iPhone and iPad, I have noted: Movement feels way way faster on the iPhone. The map is a hundred times easier to see on the larger screen. Maybe a hundred and fifty times.
Hey Madgarden, I'm on level 19 playing Hero mode and I found the stairs to the sword level. Aren't the sword level stairs supposed to be on 20? IIRC, any other game that I've played, I found the stairs to the sword level on level 20.
Doffie, why I oughta! Yeah, the movement is scaled for iPad, so you have to swipe farther. I will fiddle with that a bit for you. chrisb3, nope... stairs on 19, sword map on 20.
Thanksa lot, Paul. Again. I certainly enjoy the he'll out of the game on the iPad as well, but I'd not be unhappy getting somewhat less Wii exercise playing. (I don't Wii, I confess.)
