The light spell is used to increase the area you reveal when walking around the dungeon When the spell is first cast the sudden burst of light will blind nearby enemies. This causes the stun effect which makes them move erratically and potenially causes them to walk into walls and damage themselves While light is active the entrance to secret areas will light up when you are close Plenty of uses
Please tell! I still can't find them without a light spell. I know I am missing a lot of goodies and that is frustrating!
I like that nothing in this game lasts. Shields eventually break, a black orb will eventually not absorb light blasts anymore.. pretty much the only thing you can always count on being there for you, is your sword. I know that the Enchant Weapon spells supposedly make your sword stronger, but I don't see much of a difference after I upgrade it once. Maybe it's a slow process that requires you to get many enchantments before it really helps?
from what i know, the enchant weapon spell don'l lasts forever...i remeber to have obtained one of thos spells, but checked after a while the enchanted word value in the pause menu,it says 0...maybe i'm wrong..
Mmmh, that's possible. I somehow thought that enchant spells stacked upon one another, allowing you to upgrade your sword over time, but your interpretation seems more likely.
The hardest part is that once you have gone through a secret door and revealed the fog behind it, it is harder to compare. My theory which doesnt seem hold up is that your natural torchy glow seems to illuminate the wall more. And by more, I mean deeper, as in that it goes futher back into the wall tile graphic. It is so subtle I think I am wrong. This has been killing me. Teach us Doffie!!!!
Often --- not sure if this is always true --- there's a tiny white square in the corner of a moving brick. Also, when you're looking at map view, having mapped out a lot of the dungeon floor, there is often a big blank space with no obvious paths to get there. So I have guessed that there's a secret door that leads to a _long_ path to the goodies (or baddies). In any case, I am finding LOTS more secret doors than I used to.
Enchant spells are permanent. Which is a good thing, as you need it as you delve further down in the dungeon and monsters get much stronger.
Yup, enchant weapon is permanent. Effects like stun, fear, etc. also reduce battle skill. So if you stun a guy before attacking, like say dwarven vault guards, you'll have a much better chance of victory. The monsters walking into walls while stunned is a new feature for the coming update... VeganTnT is spilling some beans.
Yes, casualty, it is really subtle. (You know how tricky that devil Madgarden can be.) That's why I feel proud whenever I find a secret door without using the light spell. You know, I've often heard reviewers describe games as "deep," and am never sure exactly what that means. But the reason I'm so addicted to Fargoal is that, having played it for endless hours, I feel like I keep learning new things. Noticing more, using somewhat better strategies in difficult situations, etc. So, in that sense, I find this game deep.
I just hope you guys are also going outside into the sunlight and getting some exercise, heh (it's not as if I am...) Wouldn't want any WOW-like zombies on my conscience! That said, the update should be yet more addictive.
What does this mean? Looking forward to the new update, I've decided not to start another save until it's released. It might be too late now but I have a request..... in the options you can switch off the fanfare sound (which I have done) but can you calibrate it so it still plays the initial fanfare when you start a new game only? I know it's a tiny thing but I like that initial sound but not the continuous fanfare during the game.
Hmm, I've got the fanfare off during gameplay but it still plays on load. I'd actually rather it didn't, so as not to wake up the wife when I sneek in a quick midnight game
Ahh... that's actually not considered fanfare that's playing on load, it's music. So if you disable music, that bit won't play.
yep. I like it that way. I've been hearing this fanfare for months and months now. It seems almost silly to turn it off, its already burned into my brain so why turn it off now!
Fanfare on! Makes each battle more of an "event"! Now, I also play with "Max Frame Rate" on, but can discern no visual/performance difference with it off. I think Paul said turning it off would help preserve battery life by reducing screen refresh/FPS. Can anyone tell a difference with it on/off in terms of gameplay or visuals?
It's the difference between 60FPS and 30FPS, so it might not be noticable for some on the lil' iPhone screen.
