The thing that scared everyone at first about this was that they didn't know if the virus was going to strengthen or weaken when it transfered from birds to pigs to humans. Luckily, it weakened. Now, however, they're realizing it's attacking people with stronger immune systems because their bodies over react and hurt themselves.
I can completely understand why people were flipping out, as nobody was sure what was going to happen, but as the hype goes down, the alert levels continue to go up.. odd

The government just uses it to get people to panic so that they can take away more of our rights. It worked perfectly with 9/11. Look at how they exploited those tragic events to get the Patriot Act thrown through.

Now, the state of Massachusetts' senate has passed a martial law bill that gives the governor the power to declare martial law at any time.

That is one big LOL, thanks for negating a century of knowledge about immunology and human immune response. No, people most affected by any pandemic are always children and elderly, as their immune systems are weaker.

You people are incredible - two weeks ago all of you were shitting your pants over unknown mutation of flu (no, it's not a regular mutation of flu virus, that wouldn't be the problem; besides, flu season already passed), now that we know it's way less lethal than predicted you act high and fearless rotfl

Get some basics about disease control - you don't gamble with it, you don't rate probability of an outbreak on a scale from 0% to 100% and act accordingly. There are protocols put in place that kick in no matter what, exactly in the event that the virus will turn out to be deadly.

So stop bitching, most of you didn't get effected in the slightest. Oh, while I'm at it - please wear face masks if you are sick, was disgusted to sit on a plane 2 days ago and had all the people sneezing left and right. Ofc this is largely unknown in the West, saw multitude of reports from Mexico, and it was obvious most of those people never wore masks before and thus wore them incorrectly e.g. exposing the nose. If we had this in our culture = if you're sick wear face mask, future pandemic will be much easier to handle.

Where do you live? I have never even considered wearing a face mask in public.

The more you are exposed to germs, the more you are able to fight them. I saw a report years ago that said homeless people actually got colds and the flu less than most people who use hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap.

I would be weary of oversimplifications. There are an enormous number of noteworthy variables that statement overlooks. For starters; antibacterial soap will kill symbiotic bacteria that is beneficial to the immune system. But people living below the low income line have horrible dietary habits (because it is all they can afford) and are malnourished as a result. Do homeless people generally look healthy to you? I don't see the point of your argument. Frankly, it sounds misinformed.

It's not a matter of where I live, it's a matter of basic hygene and being considerate to others.

@super6ft7 - you are right, let's disregard the danger and go along as normal so that people would be just a little bit more comfortable.

I didn't mean that to be insulting or anything, I'm really curious where you live. That just isn't something that we consider basic hygiene over here. Actually, where I live, the flu is almost considered rare. Wearing a face mask here would mean you're a little off.

Hey not to add fuel to the fire, but we ALL have swine flu on our body right now. You know why you haven't gotten sick of swine flu yet??Cause your immune system is strong enough to fight it, thus making you not getting sick..

    End Story and argument.

Its a zombie flu of Mexico Agua Y Moctezuma proportions!

Some ridiculous sht they're saying in the news...

They say it might mutate with the HIV/AIDS virus and return even more deadly than eva!
ANyone with rudimentary biology skills would know this is absolute bs.

I mean really? AIDS flu!? Come on!

Quote from another forum: "90 people get swine flu, and people go crazy and wear masks. Millions of people have aids, yet no one wants to wear a condom."

EDIT: Lol, I just realized I spelled "swine wrong". Fix'd

That is the first intelligent post in this thread, coconut. I am going to use that one (or a variant of) to promote safe sex.

When this story first broke wind, you have to understand that I freaked the F U C K OUT!!! I am terribly OCD, and I seriously didnt leave my house for 3 days. I freaked myself out and made myself sick. I am much better now that I did a bit of research on it, and the media did rip this one a new one. I am still frightened of it, as I am scared of all diseases. Coming in any contact with anyone close to me is difficult because I am always so scared I am going to infect them with something. I have gone to therapy for it, and I doing much better, but this freaked me out again.

There are a lot of people on here that really do seem to think they are microbiologists and sh!t. This isn't as big of deal as everyone says, but it still is an issue. As long as everyone maintains proper hygine and keeps up with their health.

The 300,000 pigs that had to die was FUC KED up. That is terribly wrong. I don't care if you are religious or not. You know what else religion kills? Humans. And have been for hundreds of years. Calling on the death of 300,000 pigs out of fear is utter bullsh!t. Declaring war with a certain people because they dont believe in their particular god is comepletely retarded, and it all needs to stop. Now, I know It's never going to stop, as religion has an ever increasing insatiable hunger for chaos and ruining people's lives. Sure there are people that claim their god has "Saved" their lives, but they need to think about all the people that died before them. Really tragic.

Sorry for the religious rant. Bottom line is, this flu is not as a big deal as everyone thinks, it shouldnt be taken lightly nessisarily, but not nearly as heavy as the world is taking it now. I believe that everything is absolute. If you die from this thing, it literally was meant to be, no matter how fu cked up that sounds, or how cruel, its the fact of the matter. Obviously it was coming for you from the start. *shrugs*

    Man I know nothing anymore.

I can agree with that point too. Condoms do kind of minimize sensations. But unless you are certain yourself and your partner(s) have a clean bill of health, going in unprotected is irresponsible. What were we talking about again?
