Thanks for posting gameplay video arn that's all I needed to see to make a choice. I honestly couldn't get a feel for the game with the trailer as it was just snippets. Can definitely see how this appeals to some though.
He's the only one with green and red arms, he always looks like that. The characters say that since they are glad you saved them, and duh, a cardboard Box Man cannot speak! Also glad to hear you completed the game in 8 hours, and that's without getting a gold medal on all levels, so hopefully you don't think it was too short or too easy and that the game still has some playtime left. Like I've mentioned before, we are discussing additional levels. Cheers!
No,you misunderstood, I got NO golds yet! LOL I'm highly satisfied. I'd imagine I'll get..... at least 10 more hours, maybe more, trying to get low times and all stars Thanks again, I still find myself wanting to play. That's a very good $5 investment.
sorry I don't know what I was on that I wrote such a strong negative post about this game. I love it, and here's my 'revised' take on it. I take back what I said about the background. I'd still say it's not as beautiful as the character, but not too 'underdeveloped'. I still believe they can put in more bells and whistles, which would not only make it more interesting but can be elements for game depth too, eg: launcher, slippery area, etc. Yes, the gameplay is totally different. DK is more adventure-platformer with heaps of levels. And I think I wrote it wrong, I didn't really mean the control is 'exactly the same'. I was just referring to the fact everyone says it's innovative while I know there were already games with similar controls. Granted, they're different. Let's hope so, but we haven't heard anything from Anders except 'we're considering it' and that makes me nervous. I love how quick iDracula devs develop 2 new levels, 2 game modes and all that very quickly after such positive reception.
still not convinced on this game. i like the gameplay, love the graphics but 15 levels seems a bit short? who are the different characters and what are their different skills? does this change how each level can be played? i prefer games that are a bit more open ended gameplay. like zombieville, you just keep going and going there is no end and tetris, red sky, card games, puzzlers etc. what's the replayability like? what makes you want to go back for more or in a month will this game come off your iphone??!
I always think for adventure / platformer / any games with level (like ExZeus, HoS, ToyBoy), there must be a special game mode dedicated for replay value. eg, in ExZeus/HoS, there can be a VS mode where we can choose to fight any boss. This will be a pickup-and-play mode which people can keep playing in the long term. Anyway, I've just spend a few minutes on this game. Will spend more time with it tonight.
User rich_952000 said he completed the game in 8 (!) hours. Just flying through the levels and not trying to get gold medals, getting all stars etc. If that's short or long is up to you. It depends on what kind of player you are -- are you a person who likes to cross stuff off from lists (i.e. getting all gold medals etc), or are you a person who likes to get things finished as fast as possible (i.e. just unlocking all characters)? The different characters require different play styles. The Ninja has short arms. He is very fast, but in order to get to some parts of a level you have to "jump" a lot, while Monkee who has very long arms will probably be easier to get to some places, but he's very slow so it's unlikely you manage to get any gold medals.
We are mostly the publisher for Sway so that's why I cannot say yes or no whether there there will be more levels, but I think and hope that there will be more levels. I can only encourage ReadyFireAim to do more levels, sort of. Right now I would guess the answer is "probably" or "most def", and not "no". We will hopefully have this sorted out in a couple of days.
i think thats not quite the point. maybe i don't want to get all gold medals! a game has to offer more than 15 levels and then the sentence "go get all gold medals" is kinda ridiculous, sorry. when "edge" came out many people complained about the first 26 levels, but the dev didn't say go try get a "s+" for each level. the amount of levels was way too small, so he at least added new levels. seriously, nice gameplay, but a game that only has 15 levels, play-trough-time appr. 1 hours, isn't worth 5 bucks! i kinda regret it..
@Anders, that was including getting oriented, the first couple levels I was trying to get all the stars etc.. There is a reviewer on the App Store who states that they finished in about an hour, I'd like too see a gameplay video of THAT! I bet the developer couldn't even do it that fast I stand by my evaluation of Sway; best, most innovative action game on the market. I would encourage anyone on the fence to wait for Arn's full review. I'm sure they'll have only good things to say on the front page
I'm sorry you feel that way. Like I wrote in previous post, it took rich_952000 eight hours to complete the game. If we had 30 levels, I'm pretty sure at least someone else would think that wasn't enough either. But I hear what you're saying and will push for more levels, promise. Cheers, Anders
I'm still tweaking my review. Here's my take on the game. So, overall, great achievement. It took me well under 8 hours to get through all the levels. I don't know exactly how long but on-and-off play yesterday and I got through all the unlockables. Many of the first levels I did go back to get medals cause I was pretty bad when I first started playing. I think if you love the controls, you'll love the game. My main "problem" with the game is I felt like there could be more to the actual challenges. In that, there is no penalty for dying. So you could just keep trying over and over from the last checkpoint. This may have been by necessity since it's so easy to fall, but still, I feel like some of the "game" portion of it was reduced in favor of the obstacle course nature of it. If that makes sense. anyone else have similar thoughts? arn
i agree. but still it's an amazing game. graphics, sounds, idea. love it. i just hope they will make some updates, not necessarily new levels (that would be cool), but maybe some extra changes: for example your hands are longer when you touch a certain spot. or some other features like that.
I can easily get used to the control after the first 5 minutes of playing the game. There's no time limit, which is good. And basically you just try to aim for the Gold medal, which I still yet to get one. Guess I'll have to beat all levels before I focusing on getting one of those.
finally decided to get it Didn't know what to make of this one after getting ZB last night. What swayed me was the consensus about the originality and the good use of the touch screen. And it's Swedish! (I'm half) Although I can agree to some point with Arn, it doesn't take away from the fact that it is a very polished game as it is, and with just enough wacky oddness about it that it could have been sponsored by IKEA. Very few games make the most of the iphod's strengths and specificity (is that a word?). Congrats, I believe you should have a bottle of champagne at the office today, and I hope you take this a little bit further with the generous advice from the folks at TA.
Honestly I would be up "poop" creek and probably very frustrated with out the checkpoints as I have yet to clear any of the real levels (after the first couple) without falling and think I would not return to the game if it was that hard. As is now I get a pretty good sense of accomplishment when I get to a check point, but I'm also not super good at the game. I like to launch myself wildly at platforms so I tend to die a lot.
