Aye lots of interest! Hopefully it's testflight I can use that. What kinds of things are you working on at the minute?
@ste86uk I'm still working on the last boss, mostly to fix bugs. Sometimes an attack is disrupted by another attack so that the first one never ends, which looks ridiculous. I also have to find a balance so that it's not too fast (sometimes you get kicked around a lot) and not too slow either. @cdbaksu This game is going to be never online. The Android version will most likely have an 'unlock' IAP - which obviously requires an internet connection - but apart from that the game will never need you to be online, as there is no downloadable content and no online multiplayer.
Great news: We finished working on the levels and now officially entered the last phase of development! I took some time to wrap my head around a way to localize the game and it's already mostly in place (the mechanics, not the actual localization), while Jussi finished the second half of the world map in only five days! For the localization I'll be using the popular table method, where you put all the lines of the game in a huge excel table, with one column for every language. Makes translating really easy. I also wrote a little tool to transform the entries into a format that Game Maker understands. It's nowhere near perfect, but does the job. Jussi also finished the second half of the world map and I finished all the paths and markers today, so that you can finally play through the game without cheating. Next week I will be working on the missing challenge levels, which will take a few days, as there are only two of them in the game right now (leaving at least 10 to do). Hope you guys have a great weekend!
Awesome news! glad to hear it's getting closer to being completed. This is seriously one of the only upcoming games I'm really excited about
Soon the beta testing will start and if you want to be part of it, please sign up here (or click the image). I will send you an email when the beta test is all set up. Please only sign up if you want to help me find bugs and make the game better, not if you just want an early try. I need serious feedback. You can select if you want to test the Android or iOS version. If you choose the later, I also need the UID of the device you will be using to test the game, so I can set everything up in Testflight. The last two weeks I was busy with cleaning up the project and creating the challenge levels that appear after you complete a level. Hope you all have a great weekend.
Nice to see you are getting close to beta now, although I've never needed udid for testflight? Generally people join the group and then can't get the app unless you also add them to the permission for the game after that also. Not that I don't trust you just curious.
And in order to add people to the game profile, you need the UID. I had some trouble with Testflight, as Game Maker: Studio doesn't support the Testflight API, that's why it's probably a bit less easy to use this way. I guess Testflight usually acquires the UID automatically.
I think you don't need to send it if you already have your device registered with Testflight. Didn't think of that before.
Aye all signed up now and confirmed, from what I've understood in the past as I mentioned previously you just sent an invitation to join the group for your dev team/account then once a person accepts this invitation you have to go back again and give them permission to be able to download the game. Pretty sure you only need the email address of the person to invite them. Unsure how it works from your side if maybe once we join the group it shows you the udid and then you add it? Let us know anyway.
Generally I like the concept very much. It will make me wanna play for several days, how you gonna keep the users on your game in the long future?
Exactly! Testflight automatically records your UDID when you register a device. btw, signed up! This was one of my most anticipated games, so very glad to hear you're opening it up for beta testing
To be frank, SwapQuest won't be a game you play for decades. ^^ It has a story mode where you will play through the different levels, fight bosses, level up your character and so on. Then there will also be an arcade mode, where you play an endless level until you die and you get a score in the end. I can't guarantee it will be in the first release of the game, but if not then in the first update. It's slowly getting there. This week I'm finishing the last part of the game that affects the gameplay in a major way: the caravan. After that I can start balancing the game and begin the beta testing. Unfortunately there are some complications in my personal life, which means that I will be away from home for a week or longer, which may push the release back a little, but it can't be helped. So my best estimation is that beta testing will start at the end of september.
