Thanks for the reply! Those status effects are spiffy! ^_^ I like your artist's animations and its nice to know that you are looking for things like that character-tap-pause mechanic to improve. Status effect that you lose money or points over time, or on hit. would be the bane of high score addicts! XD
@WildBastion Thank YOU for your kind words. Btw. how do you like Wayward Souls? I bought it today but only played for a few minutes so far. Seemed very promising to me. @all Here's a little sneak peek of the first boss that you encounter in the forest. It's a giant bug that has been transformed by the Horde to aid them in their cause. It spits goo that slows you down, jumps around and throws bombs at you. But how you defeat it you'll have to find out for yourselves when the time comes.
I loooooooove Wayward Souls! I haaaaaate spiders! Hahahaha. I am really looking forward to your game.
Lol spiffy boss! I love whoever does your pixel art! As for wayward souls its awesome Especially the pixel art; mage gauntlet is one of my favorite ios games and its that and then some! about the only criticism I can think of is that the abilities for each class/hero are so similar. Id like for them to be more varied.
Me too! The art of the game is done by Jussi Simpanen, who some may know from his other games on Newgrounds. You can check out his other stuff here: Portfolio
I've implemented a progress bar today that shows you how far you've come in the level, as some folks have been wondering about that as they played. Not as exciting as a boss battle, but a neat new feature (which you can also disable in the options if you don't need it).
So, sorry if I missed this already being discussed, but will this be a scored game? Do we have a persistent character or do we start from scratch each run?
And I start to feel sorry that I keep teasing you with all the tidbits from the game when it's still months away from its release. I'm planning to do two things: 1. A story mode that lets you progress through the world, learn a bit about the places you visit (optional), level up and develop your character and have an intro and an ending. 2. An arcade mode in which you play through a level to get a good score or play an endless level until your character dies. Each try sets your character back to level 1. So far only the former exists, but the second mode will be easy to implement after the story mode is finished. The big question for me will be if I can put all this in the game before my personal deadline. If not, free updates after its release would be a good alternative. Hope that answers your question and thanks for your interest.
oh this is genius, I previously was playing around with the concept of a game where you play out an entire RPG story on a puzzle board itself, i couldn't have imagined this. Well done, i'm looking forward to playing it.
Thanks everyone for the kind words! I've been working more on the first boss, especially the balancing of the difficulty, as I kept losing. Here's a longer gif showing what it will be like to fight him (although the actual strategy is not revealed...)
Wow, it looks challenging! I love the animation of the character and the boss, they are really well-done.
I've been working on the next level, a village under attack by the horde. This means you can enter houses (which are a bit empty right now, but will get stuff like chairs and tables you can destroy) and there will be fire and explosions! Here a little teaser.
